Even if one the dirty ones knows he did you wrong and just fears you might cause him trouble, you better watch out, he will finish you off before you tell on him. A dirty cop has no remorse and if one does you wrong or lies, he will never back down and he will go after you even if you have no plans of reporting him. watch out even if you don't do anything to report him. a dirty cop is a dangerous one.

they wouldn't have indicted if the officer was lying, dumass. They hear what the cop says, along with all the other evidence and statements before making a decision. So be sure to report the grand jury along with the officer. So retarded!
Most jurys can be swayed by a cops testimony. Many cops have been caught who lied to a grand jury. If you think that just because a grand jury indicted someone means they are guilty and no cop has ever lied, YOU are the retarded one. Do some research, many cops have been caught up in a lie to a jury, many. If you think not, you are definetely below retardation OR you are a cop that lies, one of the two. COPS ARE NOT PERFECT, there are very good cops and some dirty as hell.

^ This. A million times, this.

Anything a cop says is hearsay, but juries tend to interpret it as truth from on high. Whether it's a blatant lie or an honest mistake, juries will often accept it as the word of god.

And what makes you a courtroom expert?? Been the defendant a few times??

FYI - a cops statements are called testimony. Not hearsay.

...and which police department does your husband work for? or which cop lied to help you out of a jam? Common sense tells anyone with half a brain that a jury will be biased when it comes to a cops testimony. Not supposed to be, but that is just the way life is. People WANT to think all cops are honest and on the up and up until they get badly burned and surprised by a cop that will lie. I have been on a jury three seperate times, and all three times, the whole jury put a lot of weight and decisions were made entirely on what a cop said. Not an expert, just using common sense, people will believe a cop over an accused EVERYTIME. Just human nature. Only those who have been hurt by a bad cop will think otherwise. Don't take much of an expert to know that.

I mean really now, who is a jury goin believe, a poor guy some lawyer has torn his reputation and character to shreads, or a seemingly squeaky clean cop that you know nothing about expect that he is supposed to be moral and honest and uhold the law? ANy jusry will believe the cop whether they want to or not, just human nature. A cop who will even tell a small lie to help a friend out, hurts so many. It is expected for the accused or civilian to lie, but from a cop, it is just the worst.

If the jury believes a cop testimony over a suspects then that is the juries fault. Not the cops.
I find it hard to believe you've been on jury duty 3 times and more believable that you've been indicted 3 times.

You sound like someone who thinks everyone needs to lie just because YOU lie so much. You also sound like someone who thinks cops are all falsely accused when they are caught up. I have never been idicted, in fact never been arrested, but I do know some cops that are dirty, I know some very good cops too. Human nature makes people do things they cannot control and to trust and believe a cop over an accused is human nature. No, it is not the cops fault the jury makes a mistake, it is the cops fault when he lies and hurts a whole bunch of innocent people with his lie. A cop who lies, even a little bit, is scum and they DO exist and they do lie to the jury, the sheriff and whoever they have to for their own purpose. If you say they are no bad, worthless cops who lie, then you are an idiot, yes, there are a lot more good cops than bad. The bad are the worst scum on earth and if you think no cop has ever lied, then you are too stupid to even debate with. If you talk to 99 percent of people on a jury, they will tell you they put a lot more stock into what a cop says than what an accused says. No one is so dumb they can't figure that out. If you ever had a cop lie on you, you might realize how bad things can get before you figure it all out. It can ruin you for life, because aftr one loses respect and trust in those who are paid to serve and PROTECT the innocent, what do you have left?

one of best criminal lawyers I know of, once told me on a personal level, that if he has a dirty cop willing to lie for his client, he don't have to lift a finger at trial time, the case is already won. So anyone who finds out the other side has a cop who is willing to lie, just bow out gracefully, because you do not have a chance in hell, no matter how innocent you are. Just wave the white flag, the case is already decided once that piece of shi* lies for the bad guys. Not only will he help win the case, he will do things to make you look like a total fool to anyone he can to cover for his lie.

true, most of them will stick together, but lots do not set out to be bad. Very few cops will not lie to help out a fellow cop. They are like a huge fraternity or brotherhood. Unfortunate but true. However, I must admit, one state trooper was kind enough to inform a friend when he knew a certain deputy had lied to help out a guilty party. I have a lot of respect for that trooper because it had went on for so long and had become a huge mystery as to why the prosecutor's office and other officials were handling the case. Kudos to at least one honest decent state trooper, he knows who he is.

"To Protect and Serve" is the biggest load of BS in this country. "Justice" is dispensed based on your ability to hire the best lawyers...PERIOD.
I am no bleeding heart liberal but the unrelenting militarization of police forces in the US and heightened attitudes of adversarial contempt by officers toward citizens on ALL levels in conjunction with our public schools NOT teaching the Constitution and continual "dumbing down" of the population and parents NOT teaching respect for the law are all leading to a National Police state.
Get a copy of the Constitution, read it, teach it to your children, know your rights, and stock up on ammo.
And before anyone spouts off...I am a former USMC vet AND a former COP!
