I definitely think they're closing. I know a lady who has been cut back quite a bit... down to 6 and 8 hours a week.

Um...There comes a time of year in the telemarketing business that there is a "lull" in business. There is an inventory problem b/c the clients are revamping their marketing strategies.

I work there my hours did not get cut. Many people's hours were cut because of limited inventory and because of their performance. A compnay is in business to make money. Most people have already been called back to work.

Is TRG Insurance Solutions closing? I don't think so...that is the same rumor that has been going around since the year 2000.

Why would a person buy a company and invest so much money in it, just to close it?

I bet raptor77 works at GCS.

As with any company, when it changes hands there are new policies put into place. Right now it is trial and error, as you have seen. There will be more changes, some good, some bad. Be patient, it will all work out the way that it is supposed to.

I work there as well: as an employee not management

White Gem, you are right, I work at T.R.G. myself and am watching the changes take place as well. This person, raptor 77 is more than likely an ex employee of T.R.G. and they are just hoping that we are closing....
and the lady who is working 6-8 hrs per wk must be calling in for some reason, ya think.....

Yes some are leaving TRG but there are more staying than leaving. GCS is firing their insurance agents (and many of them helped to start the company) So many of them are coming to TRG or other places of employment. GCS is firing their higher paid employees and doing it for stupid reasons.

The only reason people are leaving is because they are scared of what is happening. We have a new owner with new policies and changes are happening. They are also leaving because we had a number crunch and hours were cut. But everyone is back to work and has been for a few weeks now. This is something that happens every year.

My understanding is that GCS has lost a couple of their campaigns because they are being client complient nor are they being very ethical in that they are not following the telemarking rules and regulations.

Those who are reading this may want to think twice about being at GCS. Not following those rules and regulations can cause them to be close and/or be hit with heavy fines.

Raggdoll, I don't believe that she is calling in but that is a possibility. If you follow the date line of this topic the lady was losing hours because of inventory. Remember when in March and part of April when there was nothing to call and people were told to call in everyday or they were being sent home for no sales? That is when this was going on.

I myself didnt lose many hours. I am guessing that if she was averaging 6-8 hours a week then she was working but was then being sent home for no sales.

It is great to see someone else on this thread that works for TRG.

See ya at work, Even though we will know who each other is.

He may be an ex employee of TRG but I also think he works at GCS as that is where the rumor of TRG originated from. Even though we have heard the rumor at TRG as well, but we heard it from friends at GCS. One of the people in higher management ( I will not use her name) is the one that started that rumor because she does not want GCS employees leaving and come to a better place to work.

TRG has better health care, better management and we are forging ahead as with GCS is following the same footsteps that happened when upper management there left Telespectrum and started GCS

My understanding also is that the two major backers of GCS is pulling out. This means that GCS will not have the funding they need. They will also have to start closing their other facilities out of state and maybe in state. This means they will be getting rid of more people.

Those insurance agents who have been suspended and/or fired are good agents and perform well. GCS has a terrible guality department, and the person that monitors the agents is not an agent nor ever been on the phone.

What does that tell everyone?

Just wanted to let you guys know that I don't have a 'dog in this race.' Just thought it was wierd that me and my buddy that works at Global were JUST talking about this the other day, and that there was a thread on here regarding it. For the sake of the working men and women at telespectrum, I hope White Gem is correct.

lol I also hope that I am correct. One really never knows about these things. I can not see a man pouring so much money into a business to shsut it down. The truth of the matter is, is that with a new owner there comes new fears or just fears that are relived. People get scared and that is understandable.

We have bills to pay and children to raise and we have to be able to put food on the table. I do feel bad for those that lost hours at TRG. I was fortunate and did not lose many. I did lose some hours therefore like everyone else I have had to make choices as to which bills were going to be paid and which ones would not. Getting caught up on those bills is hard to do. Many are single parents and have no other income. So I do understand their fear.

I could be completly wrong, but I do not think that I am. I think that TRG will be there for a long time. Even if not under the name of TRG we will still be there. There is a lot of money to be made in the telemarketing business. As long as there are products to be marketed and sold there will be telemarketing.

Baconator, just because you don't have a "dog in this race" does not mean that you do not have an opinion and cannot voice it. That is what forums are for, We all have an opinion, right or wrong but they are our opinions.

Tell your friend that yes that some are leaving but many are staying. Those of us who are staying are just facing our fears and seeing it out to the end. Just as he is at GCS. But he should also be looking at the changes that are happening at GCS, look at the people who are getting suspended or getting fired for little or no reason. He can do his homework just as I have and see the changes happening at both places. My big concern with GCS is that Greg Alcorn is trying to rid himself of the place, along with his partner. That alone would make me scared to stay there. Greg Alcorn was once Telespectrums backer. He builds the businesses up then sells them. He makes money doing that. And even though he does that he is a nice guy, and is in it for the money and will continue to make money as he does so.

I would like to see this thread continue in a nice way that is. It can be a place for people to vent or just to talk about their concerns.

You're exactly right. Honestly, for those that have worked for Telespectrum for quite some time, This is exactly what happened in 2001, under the same upper management that now leads Global. They had almost 50 cal centers, opening several a year; it got too big, too fast, and tumbled down.
Regardless of the hours scare, the same thing can happen to Global, TRG, Sitel, and any other telemarketing company. It's a volatile industry that always has ups and downs. Even if we were laid off tomorrow for a few weeks, work would come while we all got a vacation on unemployment. In the worst case scenario, someone else would take us over just like before.
As you said the industry is out there, and people remember what kind of center we used to be, and are getting back to being now. Beckley used to be the number one center in the US, and is getting better over time. They've made a lot of changes which scare a lot of people who depend on them for a paycheck, but overall it is getting better. With some of the management changes and other decisions improvement can be seen!
I've hung in there several times, drawing unemployment here and there to be there for many years. If they shut the doors? i'll walk out of them and I'm not going to global to start over. If they don't close them? I'll see you there.

I must agree. I have stuck it out at TRG/TLSP for many years. I did leave for a few month and found that it was a mistake to leave. I was lucky that TLSP let me come back. Many people do get scared with change. God knows that I do. Some of you on this thread know who I am in real life and not just by my login name know what I mean when I say that change scares the heck out of me. I do not like it and many times will fight it. But I am still there.
Like just another agent mentioned, TRG has seen many changes over the years. We have had our ups and our downs and we have seemed to weather it all. For some reason those who have been at TRG for quite a few years seems to have conveniently forgotten all the times that we were laid off for short periods of time. I have been listening to many people the past few weeks who say they have never seen it this bad. I asked a few where were they when it went on b/c we went through this together? They have just forgotten.
Some have left and went to GCS only b/c they are promised something better. Yes they will get something better for the short term, they are not thinking about the long term. GCS is in the same boat that we are right now. Only instead of laying people off or changing their schedules for what may be only a short period of time, GCS is firing their agents. They are being very unethical in their practices of how to compromise until the "bad time is over".
I am not condeming either company. They are both in the same type of business and to be in business means to make money. What I call unethical practices going on at GCS some may say they are not and the same goes with TRG we all view things very differently.
I remember what type of center we used to be. I remember being the #1. I am sure after this inventory crunch and the new management policies are in place that we will get back to that position. In the meantime though it seems that we are losing good people and that is a shame as they may not be allowed to come back under new rehire policies.
Some of the management changes have been good some have been bad. But that all comes with the business. We are employees and with that status you can expect at times things will get hard for you, but you also have to think of the times when it wasnt hard on you. Which out weighs the other?
Everything is not ever perfect in a work place. We cannot expect to have eerything the way we want it. We, however, do need to have reality checks from time to time. We cannot expect that when we get new management that things will stay the same, they do not.
It is change, we have to accept change even if we do not like it.
I, like "just another agent" will stay at TRG, if they close I will not go to GCS. I will get another job, even though it means change, and I will move forward with my life. I will complain just as the others have but I will get over it. Sometimes it is good to just vent. Good or bad.
I do feel bad for those who are losing hours or having to go to another shift for awhile. It is not easy trying to pay the bills when you are not getting your hours. The only thing I can say is stay strong, try to ride out the tidal wave. It will get better.
For those who have left or are thinking of leaving I will miss you and I wish you luck in your new ventures.
Hope to see ya at work.

Heh. Sounds like you've been through the same exactly as i. And I can verify, that global is firing a lot of thier agents, especially those that started with them when they left Telespectrum! That's one thing I can say, is that the management at TRG tries everything they can to keep up working with what we do have.
A lot of people do forget, they forget what has happened before. Global has just barely made it to the same point Telespectrum was at, before it started closing centers and claiming bankruptcy. They have done the same thing, grow too big, too fast just like we did. I hope for everyone who does work there, it doesn't work out the same. Now that, was a scary time!! I would hate to see that happen to them. I'm like you, I'm not bashing where anyone chooses to work.
Tonight I was told to call in to see if there is work tomorrow. I think something may be going on, and we're not getting what we are supposed to. The management looked stressed and seems that they had some thoughts they couldn't say. I do hope it's only temporary, if that is the case.
I guess I can use some temporary time off!

Just Another Agent, Today, there were 50 or so TRG employees laid off for a month or so. I don't know if you are one of them, I hope not. It is sad when people get laid off, if the future repeats, as we all know it does, they will all be back to work in June. This is just a bad time for many telemarketing companies as well as other businesses. With the economy the way it is, businesses will decide to market a different way or they choose not to renew contracts. But the work will always come back to telemarketing.

Word was sent to the agents at TRG from GCS that we had a job there when TRG closes in July. I am not sure where Connie Stauton gets her information but I would like to know. All she is doing is causing fear in TRG employees and many of us just laugh at her antics. I guess GCS will pay us what we are making now. I dont think so as they are firing all their top paid agents.

I have nothing against GCS. They were good to me when I worked there, just as TRG is to me today and in the past. But I do feel that it is childish of her to try to do things as she is. But business is business and it can get cutthroat at times.

TRG may be running on just a handful of people right now, but if you think back there was a time several years ago when we did the same thing. Didnt take long for everyone to come back to work.

For those that were laid off I hope you hang in there and come back to work soon. If you find employment somewhere else I wish you luck.

June looks like a promising month.

Yes, I was one of them. However I kind of look forward to the time off, lol. I'll be back in June with the rest. I do not plan on going to global, however if anyone does I'm happy for them. Just watch yourself is my only advice.
It was sad, too, though...some of the management got it too, so it wasn't just us. I feel bad for some of the decisions on who to keep as far as they go! I think they made some big mistakes in who they kept and who got laid off, in management. That will be the deciding factor I think, because who they kept aren't that good at running anything or working with the people.
Hope to see you in June!

I hope all of you are right about coming back in June. I just think its wierd that we get a final check next week with our layoff slip in it. If the company is trying to save money by changing payroll dates would they send a check out for just a couple of days hours instead of waiting for normal payroll. I wasnt expecting paid for those hrs right now that seems strange to me and noone said how we were going to be called back.......
