I took the class about 6 years ago. When i took the entry test it consisted of short tests to grade reading comprehension, math, science, etc. Wasn't hard its just you have to rank amongst the top 30 or so to be accepted in the program so the more that take it, the less likely you are to get enrolled. You are also required to take a 2 or 3 week math program before the class start date if you have not had entry level college math. The actual LPN course is tough - not gonna lie. It's essentially a 2 year program crammed into 1 year. The class starts easy, gets stupid tough with tests daily, then easier when you get in to clinicals. You have to buy your books and a few essential items such as a stethoscope, blood pressure cuff, etc. Be prepared to study alot. Hope you don't have a evening job or kids because that will be tougher. Good luck! Reply with anymore questions should you have them!

I took the LPN in Wyoming county vo tech center back in the late 80s before i left the state for a while and later changed careers. It was rough. Not too much social life or TV if you want to pass the course. You got to put your all into that program. Just like the poster above said, it's basically 2 year program crammed into a 1 year cycle

Good luck!

Just recently grad from there. It is hard and takes a lot of your time. I wouldn't recommend the program bc of the instructors. They are rude, worthless and not good teachers. The only one itch credibility is mrs hodge. I do know they we're having toile with the pass fail ratio. Too many students were failing out. Good luck !

It is a great program. If you study and pay attention in class you'll be fine. For the entrance exam just brush up on high school math, just search online and there are many free sites to point you in the right direction. The teachers are not bitches, they are sick of whiny shits who don't want to do the work required of them. You can't beat it for less than a year and less than 7 grand. They have an awesome board exam pass rate and the people who "fail out" are usually the ones who think they can pass without studying. It's not easy but when you're done you'll know your stuff! Good luck and don't let anyone discourage you!

Too many people failing out?! Isn't that a student problem?! Definitely don't want a nurse who needs a nursing program to be watered down?!

My class started out with only about 35 students and ended with 10. So I guess you reminded me that the majority does drop out.

The reason they whine is because they are either too lazy to commit to the hard work involved or they just don't have the brain power that it takes to survive the class. All the whinny ones are the ones who always dropped from the course in my experience.

Ive been curious about this program as well. Their website isn't working properly, so I can't find out anything that way. I'm 32, and am a little apprehensive about going back to school. I think I'd feel awkward among all the young ladies. :) This is something I've contemplated for a while, now that the kids are in school, next fall will be perfect timing. I hope they get the website running soon. I want info on dates for entrance exams, applications.. Etc.

Thank you! I'm also afraid of getting behind on my household duties... Plus I guess I only have a few months to save up the money. But, I'm going for it!

I graduated from ACT about 7 years ago, was an awesome program all the instructors were excellent! They were hard on you but when you graduate you know what your doing. It's very hard, takes all your time and attention be prepared for no life for that year. By far the best decision I ever made! Good luck!!

I graduated from this program in the past year. I loved it. I worked a full time evening job and still made it through. It's possible. You just have to want it. The best advise I can give you is stay out of the politics and team up with a few good people and study hard!!!! As for the instructors I had no issues with them but I was also one of those students who did not put my nose in business where it did not belong. As for applying just call the school they will let you know when the testing dates are and what all you need to do.
