i think 5 or 6 is the starting age of Tee Ball. Its run really well in this area and is lots of fun for the kids. I think it starts in April or May. Football im not sure about. Beckley Little League would be the folks to contact

Football is already started, most teams have or going to have their first game now. They are a team in Coal City, South West, East Beckley, and North Beckley for your location unless you are wanting to drive further

there is one is Sophia too. At the Old Sophia High School. I am not sure how old you have to be for Football. T=ball he is def old enough.
There is a game tomorrow at the coal city field between Coal city and Sophia. You could come watch it and see if there is anyway to start now.
Or go to the ball fields for practice tonight.

Where is it at? If it's already started then maybe for this season I can take my son to watch it and he can observe it and see if it's something he'd like for next time it comes up again.

The game is in Coal City at the Old Stoco Field.
Practice is there tonight also. Sophia's practice is at the old Sophia High School or old Alternative School.
The old Stoco directions: Coming from McArthur go to Sophia Turn left at light, take next right,(across from $ General Store) onto Independence rd. Go to end of Independence Rd (U will pass 3 schools on that rd) turn right. Go about 1/4 of a mile, you will seee a War Memorial in front of an old school. Park there. You should see the team.
There are two buildings that use to be a store and one is an old concrete building right before you get there on the right.

I'm guessing both divisions you have to be 6. If you are taking your chance that they can take your kid bring a copy of your kids birth certificate. It is require for the sport and will help in removing any roadblocks in getting started. East and North Beckley is playing at Park Jr. High Sunday c Team starts 1pm.

You can be 5 for t-ball but it's over this year and you need to be 6 by Aug. 1 for midget football most have had their first game but may be able to still join. North Beckley practices at Dry Hill Community Ctr.

Speaking as the mother of a man in his 40s who played football from the time he was 8 years old through his first year of college, I would recommend you choose T-ball and/or soccer rather than football for your boy. Football inflicts too much damage on the body that doesn't show up until sometimes years later. My son broke his wrist, had an eye almost gouged out, and today has back problems that are probably the direct result of playing football in a very competitive environment.

If your son realy wants to play football, as mine did, I know it will be difficult to say no but if I had known then what I know now I would have discouraged it...and he probably would still have played...he loved the game and dreamed of playing in the NFL but he was too small and too slow for even college football. But it made him motivated and competitive and those are good qualities to have when you're in business.

If your son isn't really that interested I wouldn't push him. Get him into golf or tennis....anything that doesn't have a lot of body contact.
