In the Beckley newspaper today Raleigh County Sheriff Steve Tanner says he won't obey any federal laws that ban semi-automatic rifles because people need them to protect themselves and their property. He doesn't feel that any such ban will be imposed and he may be correct but he is more than ready to break the law if need be. And this is the sheriff of Raleigh County. If he won't obey the law then how can we expect drug dealers or murderers or home invasion suspects or robbers (all of these were discussed on Pages 2A and 3A in today's Beckley paper) to obey the law. When we start choosing the laws that we will obey then we are criminals and no better than the people locked up in our jails. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the headline in today's newspaper. Are you kidding me?

Once again..(I mentioned this before)...The Bush administration, the Obama administration and a few more refused/refuses to enforce FEDERAL law on immigration..Because they didn't want to or didn't like the laws.

IF the POTUS and the feds can decide what laws to enforce and which ones not to, why can't the Sheriff of Raleigh country chose to not enforce one he doesn't like?

Why do we have any laws if those in authority can pick and choose which they want to obey. I hope that we do get a ban on semi-automatic guns to see if the sheriff will follow through on his threat.

I will be watching.

"According to current figures from Immigration and Customs Enforcement -- the federal agency responsible for deportations -- Obama has removed 1.4 million people during his 42 months in office so far. Technically, that's fewer than under George W. Bush, whose cumulative total was 2 million. But Bush’s number covers eight full years, which doesn’t allow an apples-to-apples comparison.

If you instead compare the two presidents’ monthly averages, it works out to 32,886 for Obama and 20,964 for Bush, putting Obama clearly in the lead. Bill Clinton is far behind with 869,676 total and 9,059 per month. All previous occupants of the White House going back to 1892 fell well short of the level of the three most recent presidents."

LL must have learned a new word because everybody is now a "cyberbully".

At least there is one sane man who realizes the stupidity of the double standards of the idiot president and congress. Anyway it will be difficult to enforce laws that aren't even laws that pertain to everybody. Hard to pick and choose.

Just those who call me names or insult me. That is what a cyberbully is. You will be seeing it a lot until posters start sticking to the subject instead of calling names.

LL,what can we call you? You never stick to the subject. Always going off in left field with your silly comments. You always turn the subject around to suit your purpose and then get hostile when nobody agrees with you.

I really hate hypocrites. How can Obama tell me, a law abiding tax paying American citizen that my second amendment rights need to be reduced in the name of public safety... & yet he sends over 2,000 assault rifles to Mexican drug cartel members to use to kill women, children, & our U.S. border patrol agents. And nobody has had the balls to hold him or Eric holder accountable for this. If he thinks he's gonna ram this gun control agenda down our throats on the back of a tragedy he's exploited then he better be ready for a fight.

State has the power to throw out any government law. So he might be breaking a federal law but he is upholding our rights under the constitution he is protecting his people. The sheriff can do as he pleases and if he is a good one like this man then good for us. Be happy you have someone in power standing up for what is right.

Since there aren't any laws passed as of yet, it seems to be a moot point for now. If there is a law passed(which probably won't be, and if it is it will be some sort of more strict background checks or something that makes it cost more to buy big clips or so called assault rifles)the law will probably be so vague and so many loopholes it will be open to interpretation which will make it inpossible to enforce anyhow.

He's not the only Sheriff in the United States making this stand and I am relieved and proud that he is taking a stand with others across our country and protecting our Second Amendment Right.
It's time, We The People, take a stand on a lot more issues because our voices are clearly NOT being heard.

My jaw dropped when I read this idiot's post. What's sad is that "lesson learned" represents an ever growing number of people in this country that refuse to take responsibility for their own lives and safety. They choose to walk through life blindly-like a content, fat sheep grazing in a field, totally unaware of the danger that lurks around them. The Sheriff is a Hero for the stand he has taken. Thank God that there are still men in this country that will take a stand for what is right. God bless Sheriff Tanner.
