Animal lovers, please do not take your animals to Jarrell's Animal Clinic in Bradley. Before you start bashing me, which I know some of you will anyway, I am a concerned citizen, who is trying to warn you about an animal doctor who's negligence was the cause of my Siberian Husky's death. The Board of Veterinarian Medicine, located in Cross Lanes, WV agreed with me, when I filed a complaint against him. They issued him a warning which is now in his file, stating he did not perform the necessary tests needed to properly diagnose my dogs illness, and he prescribed the wrong medication which made thing worse. So, once again, stay away from Dr. Jarrell!!

So sorry for your loss. I take my pets to Princeton to be seen. I'm not happy with any of the vets in the Beckley area.

Dr. Ward on Dry Hill Rd saved my cats life (he wasn't going to make it through the night) after a misdiagnosis from another vet. Highly recommended.

They are great. We had 3 birds and a ferret. There is a time when some ferrets goes through a stage of gaining and losing weight. Thought something was wrong. Took him to Dry Hill, xrays, medicine and visits came over $500. And nothing seemed to help. Finally found out that the local pet stores took their animals that wasn't cats or dogs to the Good Shepherd. Told me that this was normal and and it could last up to a year. They was caring and tender with all my pets. Great place to board also. There was a bird and a cat that also boarded same time ever year. And all 3 got along and was able to get out of their cages together, under supervision of course.

I had a Green Wing macaw for around 15 years, birds are neat pets. I used to take him to work with me even. He laughed just like me, had to find him a home a few years ago when I had a port put in my chest. He would bite buttons and snap!!! They where gone, even the metal buttons on blue jeans didn't escape him so I couldn't take a chance on him making me bleed to death in a few minutes. I found him a good home though. Bird vets are hard to find, he never got sick, I could clip his wings myself, big time wrestling match!! But i couldn't clip his claws, the only vets I could find to do that was one in Crab Orchard, can't remember his name. If you are ever up around Charleston there is a great place to take birds off of Corridor G. A few years ago I read Winston Churchill had a Blue and Gold, still alive in a zoo in England and cusses nazis. I'd go for a African Grey over a Quaker. I had a Quaker in Texas, caught him with the old box and stick trick, never could really tame him. There are all kinds of bird rescue groups where you could get an African Grey , Macaws also. Macaws are a handful though and I have lots of scars from the 15 years I had mine.

Have never had a problem with Dr. Jarrell. He's always suggested tests and did them for diagnosis if I wanted them. Cost is always a factor especially for pets when the illness is unknown and the pet can't tell you about pain and discomfort to point in a direction of locating a problem. Always returns calls quickly and comes to office for emergencies.

As I recall, the last time this thread was started there was a mention of a time delay in taking the dog to the doc. I did a search to refresh my memory but I can't find any of the old threads started about this person's pet and previous discussions.
