I thought unions were for skilled laborers. There is nothing skilled going on at Walmart.

try to unionize and see how fast they close that store down...thats their policy....and it should be....unions steal as much money from their members as everyone else...ive had a couple of jobs in my younger years when i had no choice but to join the union....never did anything for me...and honestly since the umwa forced mine owners to clean up unsafe mines back in 19whatever....all unions are just moneymaking scams
Yep. Unions are a scam. Just look how much union bosses make, where they hold their annual meetings, where they vacation....pick a union and look it up on a source you trust. I'm not going to look them up only to have some wingnut bash my source. Union bosses and their support staff and entourage suck the money out of small people.

Too bad big companies like Wal-Mart are too greedy to realize that if they took just 10%, hell even 5%, of each of their high-paid executives salaries and put it into a fund for the employees, they could not only increase wages, but could also pay for healthcare and probably contribute to a 401k for all their damn employees - even the part-timers!!!

As for me, I try not to shop there but they do have low prices and sometimes they have items I can't find at other stores. So, yes I shop there, but very rarely. More often than not, I go to Kroger, Lowes, and Magic Mart. Magic Mart is very good to their employees, I used to work there.

once again VERY FEW retail jobs pay for healthcare(its taken out of your paycheck even though its a reduced rate). Also few ever get above the $9.00 an hour pay scale. Why do people single out Wal Mart?

...LOL.. We have those on the left complaining about BIG Corporations and individuals NOT contributing their fair share in taxes etc....
The calls are for them to be taxed more and give their workers MORE..
WE have corporations paying such low wages and benefits, the TAXPAYERS have to pay their medical coverage and NO one gives a biggen?
The debate is on and intense over taxing the "rich" but in this case no one is for it?:)
We have heard for months how the "big wigs" exploit the rest of us... NOW, when the rubber could hit the road, what do we hear?
Crickets rubbing their legs together.:)
Strange country for sure.
Nope, I hear that same chorus of voices (Informed Citizen, Capitalist Pig, etc.)... the same rightwingertards who can't recognize Walmart is THE American welfare queen.

Possibly, some are missing the point here for some reason.

The TAXPAYERS are paying "benefits" for those who work for outfits such as Wal Mart... NOW, considering the hulabaloo over the Heath Care Law, one would think they would have the opposite view..
You have an outfit here with BILIONS UPON BILLIONS of dollars in profit, but since they evidently don't have enough profit, they make taxpayer funded medical care etc. available to their employees..
So we are in effect giving Wally World billions in profit, but at the same time, we have to pay their own employees medical coverage?

I "ain't" getting it:)

Add to that one more slice of the Walmart pie--Sam's Clubs (wholly owned by Walmart Corporation).

Again the same business formula, billions in profits generated while payroll costs and healthcare are taxpayer subsidized. However, in this case, the taxpayers PAY A MEMBERSHIP FEE for the privilege of shopping at those stores!

LOL...what a racket.

Walmart often hires people with emotional and other disabilities. The amount these people earn is deducted from their welfare checks and also gives these otherwise unemployable people a work ethic.

Which only proves people vote or make decisions with their wallets..

The evil "big corporations" argument often harped on by many, especially on the left became mute yesterday to me...

Again, it boils down to who gets screwed and who doesn't.. As long as it's not US, we don't much care:)

The minimum wage laws actually set WalMarts wages above what the employees would be worth in a free market economy. WalMArt employees get a retirment plan and disability coverage through social security, unemployment insurance paid for by WalMart and also get medicare coverage.
Based upon the skills of these people...they are very well paid
