Looks like all the big time welfare bums did very well in the fiscal cliff bill. Somewhere between 60 and 80 billion dollars worth of welfare tax credits for the welfare cadillac club. These welfare bums are a strain on the American Economy and are killing free market capitalism.
Who are these welfare bums? General Electic, Citibank, solar energy companies, hollywood movie makers and all the other usual suspects.
As citizens we must demand that the government quit picking winners and losers in the economy with our tax system.

BTW, most of those tax credits were not in the original bill passed by the senate in July. They were added at the last minute by the White House. yes, added by the guy who wants to make the fat cats pay their fair share.
Suckers !!!!!!!!

The legislators only had 3 minutes from being presented the bill until they voted. Amazing. The bill is about 150 pages in length. The world's fastest speed reader read 100 pages in 3 minutes. So, suffice to say, NO ONE in congress read the bill. Obama was surprised about some of the details in the bill as well, so he didn't read it either. Another Pelosi pass it then read it moment, I suppose. Our congress is more Kabuki theater than policy driven.

Looks like Americans are willing to vote themselves more money even though their children will be stuck with the bill.

they just had moderators and the moderators failed miserably. The moderators were the American Voters and we overwhelmingly re-elected an impotent congress and one of the worst presidents in American History. A statement was loud and clear - a majority of American People want welfare, be it personal or corporate, they want it and the future be damned.

Remember the term "transparency"? Obama said the American people would have 5 days to read every bill before he signed it. He did not read the last bill and we did not get even 1 day to read it before he signed it. What a low-life liar Obama is. There is a special place in He*l for him and his cronies. People are suffering all around. NJ and NY are still as devastated as whey were 2 1/2 months ago from hurricane Sandy. He promised those people he would not rest until they were taken care of. I wonder if he got any rest in Hawaii? He apparently has no conscience. His conduct and ethics scream that almost daily.

YEP....This IS policy today....Put everything off until the last minute or second, put "pork' etc. into it, rush it through, and NOBODY knows what's in it..
Then, after it's too late, they act clueless, take the heat, and WE get the bills again..
What do WE do?...As usual put the same bunch in again with practically the same numbers of Dems and Republicans in Congress to screw up everything, while at the same time electing the SAME President, to ensure NOTHING will change.

We have met the enemy and it is US.
The voter's keep doing this, not them:)

Why blame Obama for what congress does? He was ready to deal with Boehner but Boehner walked away because he was worried about his speakership...not the country. Shame on him.

Obama couldn't vote on the Sandy Hook bill...that again was Boehner's baby....didn't anyone hear or see Chris Christie on television lambasting Boehner for shutting down congress before voting on this bill?

Geez, give a break where it's due....don't post outright lies.

Unfortunately my dear you are the one lying here with more democratic talking points and absolutely no facts to back up your points. First of all Obama moved the goal posts and tried to rasie more taxes that Boehner could get passed. It was Obama who muddied the waters, not Boehenr. Since you only get your news from left wing nut cases, you wouldnt know that. The Sandy Hook Bill was full of pork passed by the Democrat controlled Senate. Most of that money was never going to the victims of the flood. Chris Christie is shamelessly grandstanding. I hope he has killed any chance he will ever have of being president. If you are going to post on a public forum, you at least owe it to the people you to be informed and honest. When it comes to Obama, you are shamelessly lacking on both counts. Attacking people who are better informed than you is not an answer.

First of all, I often disagree with other posters but I don't lie.

Second, I don't know anyone on Beckley Topix who is more informed than I am. I have different opinions based on the same information that is available to everyone else because I look through my own window and I don't let other people form my opinions.

Third, I watch all the news networks, including Fox when someone like Chris Wallace or Shepherd Smith is on...but not when those rightwing crybabies Hannity and O'Reilly or Fox Friends are on. They don't have anything to say that I care to hear or that would further my education. I only needed to watch them once...well, I watched O'Reilly a couple more times. I read a lot of news on the internet...at least that way I don't have to look at someone I disagree with but it gives me a sense of the latest claim by rightwingers.

Fourth, Obama is far from perfect and I won't pretend that I think he is the perfect negotiator but when someone says that he is "a low-life liar" or "There is a special place in He*l for him and his cronies" or "He apparently has no conscience. His conduct and ethics scream that almost daily", you better believe I'm going to defend him. And if you don't like it, too damned bad.

Fifth, Obama was still trying to get a deal with Boehner when he walked away from the debt ceiling talks in the summer of 2011, and he was still trying to get a deal when Boehner walked away this last time. Boehner needs to start working with a majority of the House members rather than a majority of his caucus if we're to get any legislation passed that will have any effect on the problems we're facing.

What does Obama or any President have to do with what Congress does?...Don't you have a clue as to how ANY facet of the U.S. Government operates?

I think CP pretty much covered the rest:).

Gee, you like to accuse other people of lying, but dont like to be called a liar. Well in my opinion when someone posts things but at the same time refuses to actually learn the facts and remains willfully ignorant of the facts and then posts the lying taling points of the left, that is the same as lying. You need to get informed and then come back for serious debate. Otherwise you just was MSNBC and talk back to the TV because no one on here is going to take you seriously as long as you continue this silliness.

Fully agree with you. Christe has found the secret of winning elections in todays USA...hand out the pork.
All I can say is invest accordingly because the so called debt ceiling standoff is just more grandstanding. As far as the taxing of the rich lets see them go after the "carried interest" privledges those hedge fund guys get. Even Reid wouldn't let that issue go to the floor. The Alternative minimum tax would have solved that problem too, but as always that is twisted into the usual. The whole bunch are for the rich regardless of what they proclaim. Naturally the pork to buy the votes has to come from somewhere...thats where the remaining middle class comes in

Why would you ask me a question like that? Did you not read the post from Sally that you agreed with? She blamed Obama for the fiscal cliff fiasco and for the House not voting on the Sandy storm bill, which he had nothing to do with.

Does that answer your question?

Before somebody screams about it, I meant the Sandy storm bill, not the "Sandy Hook" bill.

Even though I disagree with you about I guess everything I have never called you a liar, nor ever would, and I resent your calling me one. As long as your criteria for a liar is that I don't agree with you then I guess we have nothing else to say.

You do realize that the AMT would probably have hit your pocketbook while the increase in taxes for the top 1% probably won't, don't you? The capital gains tax went up to 20% but I don't understand the "carried interest" thing...unless it's a complete pass on interest income that is still invested.
