We need more department stores, maybe an outlet mall. We don't need this many drug stores in one little town. Don't forget Eppy's drug store. Also, we have way too many dollar general & family dollar stores for this town as well. Dollar General is popping up on every corner like the drug stores.

Ok let's see, here (this is just Beckley, not counting crab orchard and beaver, etc) we have lots of pharmacies.
Lets see there's Kmart pharmacy, 4 CVS pharmacies, Rhonda's pharmacy, bypass pharmacy, 2 Walgreen pharmacy, Walmart pharmacy, 2 Kroger pharmacies, and the med express, rgh, and bar h pharmacies...oh yeah and beckley pharmacy on stanaford rd..did I miss any of them? That's 16 pharmacies for lil ol Beckley. It's no damn wonder we have a pill abuse epidemic...now add the ones in the surrounding areas...folks we got a problem
Plus the Rite Aids and Carriage Drive Pharmacy.

Because we have a group of doctors in this area who are poisioning our citizens with over prescription of drugs. We have a legislature that has been bought and paid for by the doctors and drug companies and are cowards who will not step up to protect the citizens. Everyone knows who is operating these pill mills and nothing is being done. Until we the citizens rise up and demand something be done, it will get worse. So vote that bunch in charleston out, including Gov Tomblin or get some better locks for your doors, bars for your windows and a gun.

Move out of Beckley and you will see that most places have anabundance of pharmacies. Typically there is only a certain number of drugs at each location. Also, insurance companies in some cases require a specific location in order to provide coverage for their patients.

Yeah I totally didnt think this was a loaded question when I saw the thread title.

Yes there are a lot of drug stores. Guess what? Its not unusual, because the number of drugs stores in Raleigh County is on par and proportional to the number of drug stores in other places all across the country.

Obvious troll is obvious.

However, I do agree we do need a much more diverse commercial infrastructure in town. However thanks to our beloved glorious overlord Wal-mart, theres not a lot of "opportunity" for such diversity to exist.

Remember, when Wal-mart was considering pushing into the funerary industry a couple of years back, they actually had to be told NO, this will not look good and will not end well before they thought better of it.

I think it's funny that a pill epedemic is being blamed on a pharmacy. How bout blaming the doctors and the low lifes that sell them on the streets? Huntington WV is the most obese city in the nation. Beckley isn't too far away. When there are so many obese people they are going to have a plehtora of health problems, many of which require medication. Not all drugs at the Pharmacy are drugs of abuse.

Blaming pharmacies for prescription drug abuse is like blaming fast food restaurants for obesity.
