The liberals have always been good at trying to be all things to all groups no matter how crazy some of them are...It works sometimes, and sometimes it doesn't....Theroy being of course, if you get enough of those with minority opinions to the general population, you will get a majority.
I still say he's done this time:)
This policy change of Obama's follows the same guidelines as Marco Rubio's amended Dream Act...so how can it be wrong to rightwingers? Oh, it was a Democrat who announced it rather than a conservative....got it now. LOL

It's just for votes, If someone else is elected they can end this. It actually is a good idea in a way, just needs to be extended on where it puts and end to Illegal Immigration, however it doesn't address that. Seen the one post about landscaping and field work, those people this is not directed to. And if you don't think Illegals take jobs, go live in Texas for awhile, for decades they have cut the bottom out of the construction business there. But all this really is just more smoke and mirrors to distract from the real problems going on.As in a Government corrupt and out of control.

We basically have NO imigration policy...That has been true through the last several administrations, Dems or Republicans.
Why do we even pass laws to begin with in this country...NO one seems to want to enforce them?

Do you not think it is strange when Republicans fail to enforce this vigorously, it is because they want CHEAP labor and wish to bust unions (which you support by the way) but when the liberals do it, it's because they are concerned about individual rights and want compassion and a free ride to those entering this country illegally?
It's beyond funny... borders on complete stupidity....Why should illegals get reduced college fees, welfare, etc. and benefits our own LEGAL immigrants and citizens cannot get?
It's ABSURD!

The MILITARY is now going to have a gay pride week, day or whatever to "celebrate diversity"....What a crock of crap!
Why would anyone with an ounce of sense wish to celebrate a sexual proclivity?....How about celebrating a day for people who like to have sex with animals, or any other nutball reason? Give me a break...This country needs an enema:)

You don't just announce a new policy because you dislike the old or even think it's the right thing to do. We have laws and procedures. Why don't we just abolish Congress and elect a dictator?

Jonathan Turley - constitutional law professor who usually sides with progressive ideals:

"His moves 'fit a disturbing pattern of expansion of executive power'. This is a President who is now functioning as a super legislator who is effectively negating parts of the criminal code because he disagrees with them. That does go beyond the pale.

If votes in the Senate were decided on a majority vote....as it should be in a democracy....then the Dream Act would have passed at least one house of congress but, of course, we know it would not have passed the House regardless of what it said...as long as it was proposed by a Democrat. That's what we should be complaining about and marching on DC about....the total lack of cooperation in getting anything passed by congress while the country goes down the tubes. Why are we paying them huge salaries to sit on their butts and quarrel like a bunch of grade school kids (no offense meant, grade school kids). The only way Obama can get anything done is by fiat. We see how successful he can be by his decisions on foreign affairs that don't require cooperation by congress.

Shootist, of course we need the cheap labor that illegals perform that our own citizens turn their noses up at because they can get too many freebies from the government including food, housing, healthcare, not to mention unemployment benefits. You should see the number of applications we have received lately from people who haven't worked for over a year but now their unemployment benefits are running out so they have to start looking for a job. I can understand why some companies put in their job advertisements that those who have been unemployed over six months won't be considered.

I can differentiate between those who legitimately need a hand up, or will always need to be taken care of, from those who are too lazy to hold down a full time job or just plain have no work ethic. Why would I have any compassion for them after I have worked over 50 years.

The only illegals I have heard of getting reduced college fees are those who were brought here as children and they still have to pay more than instate students but less than those from out of state. I don't have a problem with that.

It's well-known that as long as unemployment is extended, the majority of workers will take that option & wait until they can no longer draw that payment before looking for a job.

You worry so much about the middle class & wages, but the more illegals willing to work for lower wages & businesses willing to hire those workers and pay the associated costs - then the less jobs that are available to the millions of "legal" Americans. The country is stretched to the limit RIGHT now. Polls shows that Latinos also cite the economy as the number one issue facing the US.

Whether or not Congress Will pass any legislation is not the question. It's a matter of following rule of law. Urge for change in Congress, not usurp the law simple because one man doesn't like it.

You cite other presidents who have used executive orders. Was it right then? Did you like it when it happened? Get over looking back -- we are talking TODAY and this president. If it was so wrong before, then continuing the practice without any reining in of power just leads to MORE power grabs.

Time for change?? YES -- There's no guarantee things will be better, but at least we can hope!

Illegals work at minimum wage jobs that our citizen work force doesn't want like picking vegetables or yard work, not middle class jobs that require some education, training, or brute strength. They're not eligible for those jobs now.

However, if they get work permits they might be able to move into some of those jobs so it might behoove our citizenry to exert themselves to doing a better job. I've never worked with immigrant workers, legal or not, but people who have tell me that they're excellent workers. My son managed a restaurant in Key West after college where Cuban immigrants (who get special treatment that other immigrants don't) made up a large percentage of the work force and he said they were great workers. They didn't walk, they ran from one task to another. I've heard the same thing from other people. Heck, maybe I can find some to hire.

It's actually pretty funny to watch Romney attempt to criticize Obama over this policy without saying something offensive to the Latino constituency. That's what happens when you're not true to worthy principles.

How funny, only a few months ago, Obama was out there talking about how he had to obey the laws and there was nothing that he could by himself. Talk about absolutely no principles.

Guess he learned he did have a choice. Don't get me wrong, I think the timing is totally political but what isn't these days. As Romney says, what's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander....:)

Regardless, this was past due. Hopefully after the election a permanent solution can be agreed upon.

Which takes us to the very heart of the matter I, for one have been saying for YEARS.

Why should ANYONE work for minimum wage when they can get public assistance...A check, food stamps, etc. and now even cell phones....These people won't work because they don't have to..
Denmark, I think it was gave unemployment benefits for up to FOUR YEARS....It was hurting the country, so they backed it up to one?...Funniest thing, people began to go out and get JOBS:)
NO one should get more benefits from the government than people who actually work for minimum wage..
