You can never get school loaans paid, they want to give you the run around, that's why so many people default. The government wont let you pay a lump sum just what you owe off, they take advantage of people (young people) this should be a crime (misleading youth to go in deat).

If students would just borrow what they actually NEED, it would be manageable. But students borrow the maximum allowed. I know students who borrowed enough to buy a used car, a new computer, new phone, new clothes, pay tuition and books, rent, etc. Also, younger people, and some older, just don't know how to be conservative and frugal. They drink $7. starbucks coffee daily and justify that they did not have to buy a bag and make it at home.

Clarification please:)

Are you saying the government REFUSES to let young people pay off a school loan all at once in a lump sum?

I've never heard of such a thing:)

Exactly, you are spot on....
Many do not have self discipline concerning money matters..They figure, hey it's "free" and I'll always be able to pay it back later, but "later" smacks them in the mouth, sooner that they think:)

Heaven forbid they might actually have to WORK somewhere in the summers, on weekends, or even part time while in school..
They could fore-go big screen TV's, the latest "games," the newest cell phone/computers etc...

P.S. Buy Folgers, Maxwell House, or even cheaper brands if that's what it takes:)

.. Just asking, it took me TEN years to pay mine off, and the way things are today you're stuck with five or six YEARS to even pay a new car off...
What choice do you have?... I think SOME felt the government
was going to "forgive" those loans, evidently they were wrong.
Looks kinda like the same thing, different decade:)

Get a degree in a field that allows you to get a job that pays well. Businesses are crying for skilled, educated workers....so much so that the government is considering attaching a "green card" to the diplomas of foreigners who get a college degree here in a field that has a high demand for workers. Here is a list of best paid jobs for graduates with a 4-year degree.

The majority of the jobs on the list linked above are 'evil' Obama capitalist jobs, linked to banking and big business. lol

A nurse, web designer, pharmaceutical rep, financial advisor, internet marketer, network systems admin, engineer, actuary, software developer, investment banker.....all of these jobs have been around much longer than Obama. And we are a capitalist country. You need to get out more.
