<quoted text>I'm proud of your response Ashley, now thats how a coach should respond. I know RB is upset because his son got hurt, understandable. But as a coach, you are a leader and you have to keep your cool in situations like these. There could have been a big knock down, dragout brawl over there the other night. Grownups are the example for the kids to follow. I am from Mullens but I don't have any kids on the teams. I do know some of the kids playing though, and I don't think they would purposely hurt. I know it looked bad with one player, then two, then three, but it happens in football, occasionally. It's a shame these boys have to suffer these injuries, and they are in our prayers. I will say this though, ANYONE who would ever hurt or tell others to hurt a child is disturbed.

I am so sorry that Chris and the other boys were hurt, for that was not deliberate. The fans and the boys from Mullens have always treated any team visting very well. The conduct of N.B. was inexcusable Saturday night and the coach using all the foul language was uncalled for. When you do come to Mullens, I feel you will be treated much nicer than we were. And again, we wish Chris and the other boys the best recovery.

rocky, sorry to tell the truth but that was not your first time acting like an idiot on or off the field. i have known you for a long time before any of the N.B. team ever heard of you. you acted like this in high school, mullens basketball and football. Hate to tell you this but you are the reason for alot of this . i have spoke to ppl in BECKLEY and most them had nothing good to say about you. you make a complete a** out of yourself and emberass your children everyone in mullens likes chris and Danielle it has nothing to do with the children, its YOU!!!!!!! AND as far as your conviction I KNOW BETTER YOU JUST GOT CAUGHT THAT TIME , I KNOW BECAUSE I'VE BEEN AROUND YOU BEFORE YOU GOT CAUGHT . SO DONT TRY TO ACT ALL INNOCENT. ENOUGH OF THAT I HOPE YOUR SON GETS BETTER BECAUSE HE IS SO TALENTED. BUT YOU NEED TO BE WHERE EVERY OTHER PARENT IS DURING A GAME IN THE STANDS. OR NOT THERE AT ALL BECAUSE YOU REALLY DESTRACT CHRIS!!!! AS FAR IT BEING DONE ON PURPOSE IT WASNT THOSE KIDS ARE LEARNING A SPORT BUT WHEN YOU LET ONE CHILD HANDLE THE BALL ALL THE TIME SOMEONE IS BOUND TO GET HURT!!!!!!!

I'm surprised that more kids aren't hurt in these games. They break alot of rules to win and it is ridiculous. I don't know if they realize most of them are safety rules. They are only kids and are supposed to be learning fundamentals and sportsmanship. They are learning to cheat and break rules, whatever it takes to WIN.

YOUR COACHES ANS PLAYERS were way out of line last night, and listen here yes they did play dirty and illegaland all the fans on mullins side were laughing when our kids got hurt, hope youre happy now..... and as far as the announcer keep your big fat mouth shut i have you know that is my sister youre talking about. I HOPE YOU GUYS NEVER SHOW YOURE FACE AROUND BECKLEY AGAIN. iF HURTING OUR KIDS AND PLAYING DIRTY IS THE ONLY WAY YOU CAN GET YOURE KICKS , then you all should be ashamed of yourselves.. parents coaches and players all included. North sticks toegether and were family unlike youre team. BY THE WAY THE THIRD KID IS MY NEPHEW AND I hope all of you are proud of yore ignorant selves..
First mistake... You need to have disinterested and non-biased people doing your announcing. I have been around the field for many, many years and have seen a lot. In my opinion, Youth League is much more out of control (i.e. parents, fans and yes even coaches) than on the high school level.

First of all this will be my last time posting as well. The shaggy haired kid as you called him has a namt it is BRANDON WALMART HANSFORD and he will bleed black and red forever. All the boys on that team are his brothers and where we come from brothers stick together and come at you face to face not taking cheap shots. So when your boys have enough balls to say the same and play fair we'll talk.
The type of behavior being discussed that is coming from the players on the sidelines needs to be handled. Bleed black and red, bleed green and gold, bleed whatever color you want, but that behavior will just cut a young mans football career short. This past week a WWHS varsity player was cut from the team for displaying this type of behavior on the sideline in Parkersburg. Now what are his chances of being looked at seriously by any college. College coaches are looking for talent, not attitude.

Heres the nitty gritty. Like it or not, this is football. Football is a very physical and at time, dirty game. I know from personal experience that it is hard as a parent (as I am), grandparent, sibling or even just a fan, to sit in the stands and watch what in your opinion is a horribly called game or kids taking illegal shots, but once again it is the game. I also feel your pain when it comes to kids getting hurt, I have spent hours in the emergency room, hours spent in Charleston at my son's orthopedic surgeon's office, hours spent in rehab and hours watching him be in pain from getting a bet down on Friday night. I am one of the lucky parents who has been recruited to play college ball and he started in the local youth leagues. No I was not always happy with coaches, assistant coaches and refs, but the fact is you get what you get. And as much as you don't want to hear it, the pattern continues on the high school level. My point is, that you as parents need to teach your child what you expect from him whether he is on the field or on the sideline. My child has been targeted by players on other teams for many years, but I have always taught him that whether its his tackle or he is on his butt, get up and remember, you chose to be out on the field, nobody forced you. You give your hit and walk away. You take your hit, pick yourself up off the ground and walk away. Its football. I know many other parents who have instilled these thoughts into their kids hearts and heads and they have succeeded in life. I am proud to say that my son is one of the players who will knock another on his butt (maybe taunt him a little), but then will turn around and put a hand out to help him up. I also know parents who have instilled the idea that football is dirty and that is the only way to play. It may end being the only way they know how to play, but they will not succeed doing do.

Patience parents. Youth league ball is not the prize at the end of the day. The prize is teaching your child to have goals and succeed in life. The mentality (mostly of parents) towards the game changes as the kids progress in years. You will see a difference in even beginning in middle school. Aim for the big picture and teach them well

And before anyone starts screaming, this is not about North Beckley Football or any team in particular. I have no personal interest in any youth team. I just love the game and want to see these kids succeed and learn a true love of the game.

this the reason middle schools / high schools have less and less players each year.the band even cant get more than 25 kids out.look at greenbrier east band they used to have over 350 kids now they have maybe 30.parents behavior and presure is the reason...............

really honestly and truly i dont think that you are from NB because for 1-not everybody knows my dad from high school and for 2-you just barely touched the subject. anyone and everyone knows that youre obiviously just trying to get something started because you just cant help yourself and want to prey on people who you know cant say a lot to you because if he does you will probably go and tell his parole officer and get him sent back to jail for no reason. so f*** off people my dad has more self control than you think he does so grow up
I know Ashley McNeely, and he is NOT what you said. In my opinion what you said about him would be called SLANDER. He is a good person, good coach. And IF he dropped out of Marshall, how did he get his Teaching Degree? because he didn't drop out. Get your facts straight Danielle, and I would advise you to STOP slandering people.....

(/quote)okay and for one let me tell you a little about the mullens coach, ashley mcneely. he is a drug addict and thinks that he is something special because he was on a show "A Shot of Love" and because he went to Marshall for one semester and dropped out because he was soo bad on drugs.(/quote)
First off, I am not a drug addict, if I were, then I would not be around kids! If you can't prove it, don't say it!!!
Second, yes I was on a reality show, I could be on more of them, but I choose to be in my home town helping these kids out with football.
Third, if I just went to Marshall for a semester, how did I play footall for 4 years, and won 2 bowl rings?
GOOGLE IT!!!
Shout out to Chris and Rocky...we never want to see these kids get hurt, and I hate it happened.
Chop blocks happen all the time in football. It's unfortunate that it happens, but it does.
I never have replied to a remark about me on topix, but when it comes to the kids, I had to set the record straight. I'm so proud of the way our players conducted themselves that day. When all of the pandemonium was going on, they kept their helmets on and remained on one knee. I'm so proud of them, and hope nothing like this happens again!

I agree with everything you said Ashley, it is obvious, you could be anywhere, and you are helping the kids...People Need to get their facts straight before they talk about anyone...like I told the girl who posted that B.S. it was Slander....should have never been said or posted. Kudos to you & Mullens!!!!!! Kim

You make rebels look bad with your bad sportsmanship. Two wrongs don't make a right.
