Yes, she is a great doctor. So please let me know as soon as possible if she gets with another doctor. I had an appointment with her in Velazquez's office, I got a notice that she was no longer with him, so I call them up and canceled my appointment.

Just to let you know, Michele is a certified Physician Assistant. Not a doctor. Physician Assistants go thru very intense medical training, using the same training module as doctors. More training than nurse practitioners who are really just RNs who wrote a so called "thesis paper" and did some clinical rotations.

And you are right, Michele is a great person AND a great PA. Lol, and she pays her taxes - more than I can say for her doctor.

My autistic son has been a patient of Michelle's for about 6 or 7 years now. She is an EXCELLENT PA, better than alot of MD's my son has seen. She is EXCELLENT with my son and knows how to communicate with him. I don't want to take my son elsewhere for care, I want him to be cared for by her. Michelle, if you see this, John and I are looking for you!!!!And Michelle, we are not alone! There are many of us looking for you!!!!!

And as far as Ms. Smith being slammed....I don't know very many details about Dr. Velazquez, other than he went to jail for tax evasion. But I can tell you that the entire time HE was in jail, MS. SMITH worked her butt off keeping his practice open and running. I know this because I have sat in a PACKED waiting room every time my son and I went for his appointment. She certainly kept his cash flow going when he couldn't. And apparently he didn't think about "things" too much when he had the time on his hands to do so because for the first time in all the years my son has been a patient at his practice, we saw him for the first time, 3 months ago....when Ms. Smith apparently wasn't there. He was very condescending to me, didn't even look at my son's skin, and really was offensive and insulting, and well, blatently uninterested. Keep in mind my son is AUTISTIC. Dr. Velasquez, my son's office visits helped pay for that lawyer, and your house note, too, I am sure of that. Buddy, you need to HUMBLE up, and be THANKFUL you have a practice to come home to, thanks to Michelle Smith. And if you ask, I'll give you my name because if you can't get over yourself and off your ego trip and get Michelle back into your office, I won't be bringing my son back anyway! You need to give her the credit she is due....because she DESERVES it!!!!!!!!! Oh, and my son saw 1 other PA while Michelle was running around being overwhelmed with patients while you were sitting in jail, and I have no confidence in him either. By the way, Chad...it wasn't just a bug bite...it was a staph infection...it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that one out as I tried to convey to you, but that's ok...I got my son the antibitoics he needed to clear it up....thanks anyway. And I'm just a mom.....who KNOWS my son's skin....wow.

Really? That made me laugh. So is that why a PA MUST work under direction of a doctor but a NP can actually have their own offices? Is that why Walgreen's, Wal-Marts, and other pharmacy chains are hiring NPs to perform routine care on their pharmacy clients? Hmmmm, why wouldn't a PA have his/her own office? Because it's illegal. Not enough training. It takes longer to be a NP than a PA. Get a clue. I wouldn't want a PA to look at me. I only see MDs. I don't know this girl, she may be great and what she does but please, stay factual regarding certifications and stop the bashing.

Really???? Wow....my son has sever allergies and severe asthma in addition to autism and ADHD. I've had NP's call ME asking what to do for my child because he's had an allergic reaction or an asthma attack...even though there are doctor's medication statements on file with the school, that is their own red tape and required by me to provide to the school each school year. In addition, my son has an IAP (Health Plan) and a 504 Plan, of which is in writing expressing in detail my son's medical needs. you would think if I, just a self-educated mother, can provide medical care for my child, shouldn't an NP who has extensive medical training be able to do so? My son has been provided care by many people regardles of the MD, DO, NP, RN, PA, etc., whatever title stands behind their name. IT has nothing to do with the title. I've seen an MD be less knowledgeable than a PA. It depends on the person and how assertive they are and how much common sense they have that needs to be included with that MD, DO, NP, RN, PA that stands behind their name. Who cares who has an office and who doesn't. I don't. All I care about is receiving proper and adequate medical care for my child. And I'll take Michelle Smith, who is a PA, over Dr. Valesquez, who is a DO, to care for my child any day.

You are not being truthful. A nurse practitioner can NOT work without supervision of an MD in the state of West Virginia. Check your laws and know that what I say is true. "having your own office" is NOT practicing without supervision. Don't pretend that it is, moron. NPs are not independent and the American Medical Association is opposed to any efforts the nursing lobby has to make them independent. I know some nurse practitioners and they are just that - nurses. I wouldn't let them treat my houseplant.

Now, if you think they are independent- you get the WV Board of Medicine to state it openly.--- hmm, thought so.

I was going to June McIntyre and had to switch to Michelle. I was told she got married to someone in with CAMC (if I'm not mistaken) and moved to Charleston. Which that was great. But no one will say why Velazquez got rid of the best PA in his office. She was (is) the best PA. The only way I will return to his office is for her to come back, if she doesn't then I will have to tried and find someone else.

Of Course, do you. Physician Assistant-Certified. Which means she/he does the same thing a doctor does only under supervision of a doctor. And I think Michelle does just as good or maybe even better than Dr. Velazquez does, so I guess that is why a lot of people would like to know where she is working at now.
