I live at Maxwell Hill and last night I slept with the window open. About 2am a police siren went off. Immediately a pack of coyotes, probably three or four, started yelping on a hill behind the house. Then several more around New River Drive. I've heard them before on New River Drive, but last night they were really close. Another thing, we don't have near as many stray cats roaming the neighborhood. So if you have a cat, you might want to keep it indoors during the night.

Coyotes are everywhere...you have to alert day or night...and watch your kids too.

Be careful with what you have in your trash when you take it out too. Food scraps are not a good thing to leave outside.

From your description, you have to be my neighbor. I hear them all the time also. One night, one was howling pretty much in my backyard.

They wer on Mankin/Orchard/vine the other night. They have turned into dumpster dogs from what I have heard. Not as shy with the lights.

Here's what you do: Get a flat bed pickup, and about 5 bowhunters. Get a CD of an injured rabit and a spot light. They WILL come. When they get close enough turn on the light and fling some arrows! I live in the country so we use assualt rifles which is more fun, but in town...not a great idea. I think people would rather hear coyotes than a hundred or so rounds being blasted off! GOOOOOOD Morning Vietnam!

OR get a pickup truck, put some guys in the back with surf rods and big hooks on the line...Use any kind of rancid meat for bait..

Cast out the back and go Yote fishing..

Be careful, they put up a big fight, and be especially careful taking them off of the hook.

Check with your local police, many areas that don't allow you to use firearms will allow you to use pellet guns for pest control.
A .177 cal multi-pump pellet gun will drop a coyote at close range.
Just a suggestion.

I wonder if the city would frown on the use of a 223 with a muzzle suppressor for coyote eradication???))

You shoot off any gun in city limits or the county and here the cops will come...they will arrest you too. I don't know what you should do....go to the pound and pick you up about 3-4 pity bulls...them maybe you would be safe.
