Well, Edward, dumbass, I hope you end up being negatively effected by the loss of local money available to be spent by miners and their families. Whatever you do, work or draw entitlement benefits, ie. a check, less revenue in an area affects everyone over time. Unless you're one of those Hollywood nuts who comes to WV occasionally to protest you will suffer the loss of jobs. We see how it has worked out for Calif. Those nuts, treehuggers, have run off all decent jobs and that state is largely in bankruptcy.

well since just about all of the young coal miners think they are better than anyone else, and talk shit about welfare, ssi, dss and the like I hope you all end up on the welfare line and soup line. Thats what u get for downing everyone that is on welfare that has lost there job one time or another. to all the pillheads, hurry up and die of an O.D. and the decent people can have a life again instead of wondering when we will get mugged, robbed or killed! the funny thing is, almost have the miners are pillheads to and have nothing to show for there money. U didn't hear the older coal miners bragging how much they make or down the others that was or has had assistance one time or another.

They lived within their means is why...they scrimped and saved...they did not drive 50,000 pickups and SUVs...new boats and buggies and four wheelers for all..these new breed of miners and their families live very high on the hog and most of the wives (not all) dont work outside the home. That is why...

Coal has always been boom or bust just like back in the 80's when coal mining practically stopped. Whats happening with coal is nothing new. It happens quite often with coal and always has. The world will not end and the sky will not fall over coal use. Now back when coal was all we had to produce electricity it might have wreaked havoc on us but thats not the case anymore. Thats also another reason why its a good thing to be more diverse in the ways we make energy instead of putting all our eggs in one basket with coal. As of June 2012 only 34% of electricity in the u.s. came from coal.
And what so many people dont understand is that the president is only a fraction of the reason for coal's decline right now. Even the coal industry leaders and company owners have all said that the biggest reasons are because of low demand, a changing coal climate and usage, and of course cheap, clean, and abundant natural gas.
I can guarantee you that all these places you mention will not shut down just because of coal. We are smarter than that. When coal has fallen to the side in the past, our nation kept right on moving along and now our dapabilities with other means for energy are even better than they used to be. Health care will affect the jobs you mention before the lack of use of coal ever will.

30,000 coal miners in this state with a population near 2 million people, is not gonna hurt us that much. The natural gas industry employees running around and spending everywhere will also make up for alot of the money normally spent by miners.

Very very true! Natural gas has taken over and coal is going to sideline for a while. Only a few mines will have steady work due to their good quality coal for steel making! Raleigh county has the 3 top good bit coal for steel making, thats why the restaurants are still moving in! NG,wind, and solar are creaping up on wv, get ready ; ) Nows the time to get into the NG,solar and wind power business. Don't sit on the sidelines and wait for that coal job that will never come!

I disagree with you on several points. But I agree with you on most! The young miners where I live are a bunch of arrogant blowhards. Their bench mark for success is 55 thousand per year and a pocket full of oxy. Not much of a thought in their heads they whine about their fate. They say to take a lesser paying job is beneath them. My advice to them is to suck it up and quit crying.

Sitting around blaming a president for your coal jobs that were stolen by the big oil companies who were fracking, looking for oil and found 8 times the natural gas than expected, is stupid! Times are changing, roll with them and feed your family! PROUD miners are only puppets for the operators using you and your health to make billions! Wind generator technitions make about the same pay or more as coal miners! Gas well drillers and operators do the same. FUCK coal, it doesn't care about you, so make west Virginia strong again and quit making the out of state wealthy coal operators lucky to have you hanging in there waiting for nothing to arrive! The future is wind, solar and natural gas!

There simply is nothing whatsoever to be jealous of in regards to being a coal miner.
Why would i want to..........
1.Be put in unecessary hazardous situations that could get me killed because someone else is wanting me to make them rich?
2.Have that same person lay me off because they arent getting enough money in their pockets?
3. Work for someone who will cut my benefits and bonuses for busting my ass because they arent putting enough money in their pockets?
4.Have a job that is ALWAYS a feast or famine situation?
5.Die at a premature age from BLACKLUNG?
6. Work for someone who will fight me in the courts over getting black lung benefits after busting my ass into worthless little pieces for them for years?
7.Work for someone who may not even give me fair warning of a layoff for their own benefit?
8.Put myself in harms way everyday with the potential of not coming back home to a family that needs me more than they need my life insurance?
9.Work for someone who would rather fire me than to address a dangerous situation that i may bring up to them, in the name of production?
10.Limit my own capabilities and talents by getting a H.S. diploma and then working in a black , dirty hole the rest of my life?
11. I could go and on.........

JEALOUS you say? LMAOFF! Not a damn thing to be jealous of i can assure you..LOL!

And if you do it all for the money, that H.S. Diploma didnt do ya much good either.

However i always here about all these educated miners that have degrees working in the mines yet many of them are saying "What we will we do for our families without our coal mining job"?
Well brush the dust off your face and go see. As you can see from the link on pay scales in my above post, the more you have behind you, the more you will make. And thats the way it should be. You are not ENTITLED to go into just any job at twenty some dollars an hour because you have dug a little coal. Another theory is that you just MIGHT be able to work your way up on the pay scale once you get into it. Thats usually the way things work when your trying to progress in your particular field of work. Sure you might have to adjust your lifestyle and luxuries for a while but hey.....we have all done it and so can you. So either sit on your hands and cry bout the president and be left in the dark yourself or get yourself prepared ahead of time. Its about the only two choices you have.

The professional wrote that miners making 55 thousand and pocket full of oxy. Im a coal miner I wounldn't step foot underground for 55 thousand im 40 year old miner making 85 thousand plus wife kids get drug tested almost every month. We got 300 drug free hard working miners in our company that gives somewhere in the ballpark of 15 to 20 million back in raleigh county economy.

Having an education does not guarantee you a good job. And as far as lifestyles and luxuries, some people have children to support so it is very unlikely they can raise their kids off of $8 an hour to work their way up. Your hatred for coal miners is ridiculous.

This is a AVERAGE. I am speaking of SPECIFIC jobs for WV and WITH Experience the max is $15 per hour. And I hate to break it to you, but most companies can give two shits if you have a degree, they want experience.(and being pleasant helps too)
As an owner of a company myself who is quite familiar with what employers look for, you're full of BS.

No hatred for coal miners, i'm just more for diversity when it comes to energy.

Yeah some may have kids and many may not. Put that wife to work if ya dont have kids. If you do have kids, put her to work anyways. I know all kinds of married couples that have kids, dont make what a miner makes, and they still have daycare help and are happy. Life is what you want to get out of it.
