Im tired getting stopped by these idiots for no reason whatsoever and being asked where im going and where i came from its nobodys business but mine. I feel at this point its harassment i see them sitting cross the street from the bar all the time just waiting for someone or anyone to pull out this has to be the worst place i have ever lived.

What was the "probably cause" reason for the stop before you were sent on your merry way? Police usually have a reason or suspicion when making a stop.

Some common sense suggestions:

Don't frequent a bar where you "see them sitting cross the street", make sure all equipment is working, make proper stops at lights and signs, don't cross the center-line and wear your seatbelt. Also, be careful of who rides in your vehicle and make sure all drugs are in properly labeled prescription bottles and no drug related paraphernalia or loose alcohol containers are in sight.

there has to be some additional motivation for an officer to wait four and five consecutive hours parked by a bar stopping every car that leaves. I just don't think catching a DUI could be that exciting to vetran officers?

And for every 10 convictions they are awarded a free cruise to a destination of there choice. I have a deputy
friend that busts alot of them and has taken a bunch of cruises.

At thetender age of fifteen, I was educated to the fact that if they don't have a reason, they will make one up. I saw a cop pull a bag of pot out of his pocket and say that the driver of the car had it one him. I was 100 percent positive of what I saw and that the person would never have been carrying pot. SO what does all that matter, they can say what they want to, after all, they ARE the police. Now who you goin believe me or your lyin eyes? lol

lol what bs.
Everyone thinks it's "BS" until it happens to them. No one wants to believe that things like that go on, but they do. There are bad teachers, bad doctors, and bad cops too, there is no way that every police officer is honest, the law of averages refutes it.

If you think that it's okay in any way for police to sit outside of a legitimate business and harass it's patrons you're sorely mistaken.

This town is so backwards, the police harass citizens for bonuses and overtime perks because their base pay is too low. Meanwhile, one of the largest contributions to a city's income is it's night life, which is being stifled by the same police who aren't getting paid what they're worth because of the income they themselves are stifling.

Police need to be paid more, so they have an actual interest in "Protecting and Serving" their citizens, so they're not the most hated group of people in town. So that you might actually pay attention to the drug dealers you speed by on Robert C. Byrd on your way to pull over a car with an expired inspection sticker.

I was a witness to a breaking and entering in which the suspect was subdued by the victim and held until the police arrived. The police then ignored me (the only witness), never even took my name, found a weapon on the suspect which they didn't report, instead gave to the victim. And the fine gentlemen who had been arrested for the same crime 4 times in 6 months was out of jail the next day.

You wonder why so many pillheads will bust your car window for a fix? Because there are NO CONSEQUENCES. Real criminals are treated as a nuisance, and law-abiding citizens are harassed to the point of paranoia.

There was a time when police served their community, created relationships with the citizens of their town, did their best to protect good people.

Now they just want money.

Money.

Money.

Shame on you.

after reading some of these posts, and having served,(and im not taking sides) but i wonder as in the military, the commitment that most officers whether city, county, or state, make in their career choice, to work long hours, be away from the family, while others are at the lake, at a party, etc., nights and weekends, holidays, just as in the military, its a lifestyle choice, after being gone for a long while, the same topics are always being discussed about the integrity of L.E. the corruption, why are they picking on me syndrome, and my favorite, they get bonuses for extra duty, fyi, its a state or federal grant that is for dui, seatbelt, etc. there are no bonuses, its just overtime, i inquired about it. where did that come from?? are all officers/civilians perfect?? hell no! most are good people, but unfortunately, a few screw it up for all. Hell, i wish we got paid more, it is what it is, some might thank god that they live locally, for those that have lived in major urban areas, its not any greener on the other side of the fence, dudes carjack in broad daylight, REAL gangs, not wanna be's, prostitution, rape, murders, but the percentage is lower in wv than most places, point is, people concentrate too much on the peas and carrots, instead of the steak. But if you don't agree with local enforcement, or political posts, then my advice would be to get off of your four point of contact, and either join yourself, vote, help your neighbors and community, family, etc and for those others, you just have to suck it up and drive on, lastly, movie quote ,"what we do in life echoes in eternity." words to live by.
