There are two telecommunication companies in the Beckley area and I've heard good and bad about both. I've also heard there is good money involved with sign on bonuses for Insurance agents at both companies., not to mention the hourly pay..I also heard some of the reps that do AT & T in one location get about $1000.00 bonuses on their paycheck..Is there really that much difference in the two places? Any info would be greatly appreciated.. is it a hard job to do...?

I have never seen a telmarketing job that is really that great. Used to work for a company that paid great but really sucked to work for. If you take it, be prepared to get yelled at, hung up on, cussed at, and stuck for some period of time listening to all the problems people have and that is why they can not give you money at this time.

I worked at the one IN BECKLEY (Telespectrum)I was there a little over 4 years. It is a highly stressful job because like any other job you are expected to 'exceed'... you have goals to meet and you are trained to meet those goals. I was never 'hollered at' by employer, etc. there were many times a potential customer would be rude & crude but I TRIED to politely THANK THEM WITH KINDNESS and end the call in order to get on with the next call. Usually the worst were '''young punk kids''' and being a mother myself I knew they were getting by with something they considered kool... I was paid good. I made tons of friends at work. Another company closer to Oak Hill started up and many of my fellow employees went there and they told me lots of good things about their place.... like exercise room,.. day care... I don't know if all that is still the same but I do know that a lot of my friends are still at both places & they enjoy their jobs and the pay is good. You HAVE TO BE ABLE TO HANDLE STRESS and Always SMILE when you talk --the person on the other end of the phone CAN TELL.... If you get interviewed and IF you get hired they give you trial basis... I say go for it... If I would go back to work,.. I would go back and reapply for a job at one of the two. JUST MY OPINION. Oh, I was licensed agent. The employer paid me to take the exam... classes... and I had like 47 states I could verify sales in so I didn't just do cold calls I mostly verified.. GOOD LUCK...
