John McCain was right to link both the Republican and Democrat parties to the corrupt morals of Washington politicians.

These same party politicians also share a bankruptcy of ideas for how to fix their criminal fiscal mismanagement.

For too long the U.S. Congress has financed its deficit spending with economic policies and legislation that promoted lenient credit and lax oversight to encourage U.S. consumer borrowing in order to produce economic expansion.

This economic house of cards has come tumbling down following the dot-com market bubble burst and sub-prime housing collapse.

As a result of this wealth meltdown, U.S. consumers can no longer finance their debts and Congress is desperate to find revenues to keep the U.S. out of bankruptcy.

It's time to limit Congressional terms.

Elmer, you shouldn't speak of your wife in such terms. Bathing her is a personal matter. By the way, Bush isn't running again, he's already served two terms and that's the limit. You seem to need to revisit your elementary school library and do some reading. Best of luck to you and your hog.

the "simple backdrop" was a picture of Walter Reed Middle School in Hollywood, California. just another example of republicans trying to use the military as a prop but in reality not having a clue what they are talking about.

Congress' approval ratings are low because the leadership (Nancy Pelosi & Harry Reid) won't reach across to President Bush who won't reach across to Democrats. Nothing will change unless someone can actually DO that is elected. Obama had a chance on a reform bill, working with leaders from both parties. In the end, Obama voted AGAINST the reform bill, and to add insult to injury, he now wants to claim credit for it. If this is any indication of Obama's willingness and ability to reach across the Isle in a Bi-Partisan effort, then you can be assured that gridlock will continue. John McCain in his speech last night promised to do everything possible to reach across, just as he has done many times before, on election reform, immigration reform, The Supreme Court Nomination process, and lots of others. If we, as Americans are not smart enough to realize this issue, or if we as a country fail to act in our own best interest, then we will deserve what we get. Socialism is not where I want our country to go. And rest assured that the Republicans in congress are not going to let us go down that path without a tremendous fight, and I certainly agree with them, and will support them. If a free America is what we all want, and we don't want socialism destroying the greatest nation on earth, then we better vote for John McCain and let him try to bring Democrats and Republicans together to work for the common good rather than moving our great country toward socialism and communism.
Vote McCain.

I was never a McCain fan to be honest. I didn't take much time to learn about him. Last night though was different. When he made the statement "We need to stop yelling at each other" when the protests broke out at the RNC I thought it was great.

We Do. We need to stop yelling at each other, come together and whoever has the best idea go with that, instead of taking credit or putting it down becaus ewe ourselves and your own party did not come up with it.

I like Obama - I think he has every true intention of making this country a better place. I just happen to agree with McCain more. I don't think that makes me a bad person, just different views.

I will not scoff at you, if you will not scoff at me.

Go Vote.

You may disagree with some of his politics, but you gotta love this man. Here is a TRUE American hero. But more importantly here is a man who is NOT petty, vain, and a man with the real deal type of deep character that we don't see often enough in politics. The message that came across was that this guy sees himself in the right light; he sees that America is much bigger than himself, not the other way around. He has maturity, authority, and he doesn't care about political posturing. In his own modest, humble way, this guy's character leaps out at you. I'll take a wise man over a great speaker any day. Even if,(or perhaps because of), he's not a perfect man. He at least admits that he's not all that, and strives to do better. I don't want a politician who STARTS with the premise that he's the ONLY one who can effect change. I want a politician who starts with the premise that he's grateful for his country, and acknowledges that he is only one of many Americans who sees something bigger than himself. America will still will go on. I want a leader who has quietly demonstrated change over time and not made a rapid rush to broadcast and inflate a thin resume. I fear that today's masses only want to look on the flash and style that is on the outside rather than seeing the true heart on the inside. American Idol may be a lot more fun, but American heroes are a lot more real.

Yeah, he is a nice man, he served our country, and is a hero. He is by no means a President. To be honest neither of them are. But AMERICA, we need someone who has stated what they are going to do, NOT what they have done. Secondly, the VP, the PITBULL w/lipstick, is just that. She too did not give details, just hard bashing. This time I have to go Democratic...

McCain, the self professed only real American in the whole country because he crashed a plane after killing civilian on twenty-three fly bys. What a great man. Yea, right. He just can't stop talking about himself.

But when he ran against George W. even the Vets wouldn't support him because he, in truth, collaborated with the Vietnamese govt. Now, he throws his military experience out every time he opens his big angry mouth. Well here is the truth about heroics McShame.

Yes, McCain will make the American schools better by introducing competition, i.e., privatize them and let corporations run the schools...like the republicans did to Freddie Mac and Fannie May. Private so long as individuals can profit, but when all the money is scammed away and CEO salaries are bankrupting the schools, the tax payers will bail them out.

Besides Americans want Public schools closed so they can pay approximately $8,000 per child per year for elementry school. Don't worry the Govenment will give you a voucher...for about $1,000 per year, you pay the rest.

Add your private insurance to that since corporation will no longer help you and watch that middle class dream melt away...

Don't worry! McCain will fix it. Perhaps he will get all the corporations to give us money like Palin did in Alaska. Perhaps they could introduce a whole new type of welfare like Palin did in Alaska. Not just people in need will get money from corporations, but everyone. But lets don't put that money into a national account to cover a national healthcare program. That would be socialism...uuuooohhh...bad social causes will ruin us, that would be tax.

No, let's just have those corporations give away their money because we all deserve part of those profits they make extracting oil, poluting our environment, feeding fat food meals to our families, selling gas guzzling cars made in China (used to be made here). But whatever we do lets don't apply it to a social cause because every person knows best what to do with this free money...like buying a new gun, or more beer, or a new truck.

And hey, explain why Levi Johnston shouldn't be arrested as a pedophile. How can Palin protect the country if she can't protect her own kids from pedophiles?

This is his second child; the first was with a 13 year old girl. Even by Alaskan standards (which are very loose) that is a bit young.

Sick.... really sick... yea, we want her in the White House. Her and her husband are good evangelicals, and typical of the breed. But lets move on to other issues.

Her husband and daughter: is child #5 really Sarah's? I don' believe so after looking at family photos on the internet. The eldest daughter is the mother for sure, but is the father of that child Sarah's husband? Let's do a little DNA test.

Will she support states that wish to secede from the United States, since her and her husband were both in a party pushing to have Alaska secede from the Union?

Will she legalize pot since she smokes it herself?

Will she change her position and start supporting unwed mothers, particularly teens so they can finish an education through college?

Last night, this woman was pathetic. Nothing to say that was grounded in reality and less to say about solving our problems except continue the same old republican bull that has existed since Reagan and have proven a failure to all but the rich.

And now from the same group that exposed Edward's affari, the news is she had an affair...oh, no.

What a joke on McCain by his own party. He should have picked Lieberman.

I'm sorry, but, yes, I have to scoff at you. How can you take McCain seriously about not "yelling at each other" when that's all his veep and other supporting speakers did the whole rest of the convention? Read Steve Chapman's column today - the contrast between Palin's attack-dog speech and McCain's "can't we all just get along" speech is so ludicrous that it's laughable.

And McCain even contradicts himself. For months he's been questioning Obama's patriotism and "American-ness", yet in his speech he's all about uniting and offering his hand and working together and, blech, I just lost my lunch.

Dienne,

You know your right. When I watched all 4 days of the DNC none of them riduculed McCain. None of them had a negative word to say about him at all....

I am not saying the political process and conventions are perfect. They aren't - they are both filled with die hard believing zealots that acutally look forward to going to these things. they enjoy hearing thier team tear up the other team. I think it's like summer camp with bad hats if you ask me.

Isn't the VP looked at as someone who should be the vocal mouth in the room? Isn't that what we as voters have come to expect? I have already seen Biden making comments as well on one of the most recent stops Obama and Biden have made.

If you have made your choice on who to vote for that is awesome - if you feel compelled to send them money go for it. If you even want to be the feet on the street and get the word out about thier campaign - that's awesome to.

But if I decide to vote for McCain because I agree with his policies more - then that is just the opinion I have.

We can still be nice to each other.

Chris, You sure are one hate filled person spreading some hefty lies. It's easy to spread lies when you sit behind a typewriter. If you were to write them in a letter to the editor of your favorite newspaper you better have an attorney lined up for a slander suit. By the way speaking about attorneys--How about that lawsuit by Ex Attorney General Berg against Obama?....and of course another friend of Obama's gets thrown under the bus. Kilpatrick--wasn't the quote by Obama.."Kilpatrick a great mayor who will do astounding things for many years to come. I'm greatful to call him friend." He was sentenced today and is heading for the slammer. How are things going for Rezko....the blogs are filled with info that he is going to SING!

The real issue this year with the election is ~historically speaking~ when we get two houses of congress the same party as the president the country goes down the tubes---Jimmy Carter...I really don't want Obama to have no checks and balances in play with his total lack of experience. He is not a centrist candidate...Far left....Look what we got when Bush had both houses...We got Iraq. So just what will Obama do unbridled; since it's pretty obvious that both houses of congress will be democratic McCain would not have the opportunity to get carried away. BUT Obama gets free rein as a rookey....mighty scary to me. Personally my representative is Republican and I was hoping to help vote him out so I'm no help tipping the congress. I vote fairly independently...one year it's the republican, next year it's the democrat. But man, having the executive branch and both houses of congress controlled by the same party is virtually ALWAYS a mistake.

I truly trust my beloved country to McCain and Palin which I don't to Obama at all. McCain and Palin are honorable, trustworthy, patriotic, experienced in governing, have family values. McCain truly laid his life on the line for America. There are no comparisons between the two candidates.

Yeah why do you suppose it is that Obama never served in the military~~ And now he wants to be commander in chief--I think he was a !to big of a coward to serve.

Daily Horoscope for December 19

Gemini

Maybe it's pre-Christmas tension but people can turn nasty in the blink of an eye today. This is especially likely if they've got a lot on their plate or they think they're very important, and you may have to treat them with kid gloves if you want to avoid getting sucked into a bad-tempered war of words. Some gentle humor may help to rescue the situation before it descends into acrimony.
