But the very worst characteristic of many Minnesotans, is their often petty, anti-social behavior. They haven't learned the hard way, that you just don't mess with people. I mean, these people deliberately wait for a car to come, and then deliberately cross the street slowly in an apparent bid to get hit? I mean, it's like "I have the right to get hit". But they fail to realize the value of not putting one's life at risk by their idiotic behavior. So dumb!
I agree Mn has wonder weather.

You guys need to zip it and zip it fast. People on that country road go for walks all the time. Unlike you and me who have sidewalks to walk on, people who live in the country do not. So do not go flapping your jaws on something you know nothing about. Please just move on to the next news item.

Being a clinical psychologist with 15 years of experience, my theory as to this behavior is that Minnesotans are for some reason(s) just a very unhappy bunch. There is a very high confidence in this being the reason. People don't behave so badly unless they are very unhappy.
I think you meant to say that you have been under the care of a clinical psychologist for 15 years;-)

Pioneer Press is slow with the story. Others reporting alcohol on her breath. Not a good road to walk trashed on. My bad.

I really hate admitting this as a current minnesotan but wow did you hit the nail on the head here. The above votes are no doubt from MN folks that do not even know another way. The crossing the street thing, I watch that EVERY DAY here. You are right, they wait till the car is there, close enough to HAVE TO STOP, then even go as far as to walk slower across the street than the speed they normally walk on a sidewalk, not to forget the entire time they are bitching about the traffic.

Minnesotans are horribly spoiled. They HAVE to get what they want RIGHT NOW! That is the largest cause of our drug/alcohol problem. People cannot save a dime. They need to SPEND IT as quick as they get it. You also forgot LAZY, Brain Dead, liars, and the best government theives I have ever seen in my whole life.

What could be going through someones mind so hard that a car can sneak up, hit, and kill you while walking at night?
Drunk/high? I don't feel sorry.
blind/deaf?- okay, I feel sorry.

One needs to pay attention to what is going on around them. We just had a drunk guy here lay down in the highway and fell asleep and was hit and killed. I felt sorry for no-one except the guy who hit him, hell - I laughed at that one. IDIOT DRUNKS!

This comment goes to Focodar!

I think for a clinical psychologist with 15 years of experience you need more schooling and maybe some treatment with someone much more qualified then you are. I almost have to laugh but I feel sorry for you so I cant.

You ARE bad! Since when does alcohol detected equal being "trashed"? My sympathies to the Westphal family and the poor man driving home from work that hit Michelle. May the people making judgments here never have to know the kind of pain they are all experiencing today.

At least your "idiot drunk" did not get behind the wheel and kill others. It never ceases to amaze me just how judgmental and uncaring people like you can be.
Walk a mile in my shoes, brother!
Condolences to both families. Thanks for the insight Tinkerbell! Totally agree!!!

That's right, protect your precious booze, blame everything but the booze, couldn't be the alcohol that causes the problems, has to be another source. You a-holes never cease to amaze me.

You my friend have no idea where my shoes have been and maybe yours have been down the road of ugly as well, but it has not 'coditioned' me into dismissing the writing on the wall. Let's not forget roadways, night time, alcohol. Not a good time to not be paying attention. I am sick of all the deaths due to alcohol in a world that protects the poison so dearly, yet goes so far out of their way to arrest the 1000's for stupid 'pot' infractions. If you would total ALL the deaths including of the cartel due to Marijuanna, it would not even come up close to the deaths in the US alone for alcohol related deaths ON THE HIGHWAYS. It is the folks like many of you that protect your precious poison to a point that simply put makes me want to puke! Minnesota is FULL of sickening drunks and somehow has been adopted as perfectly normal. It is far more than iritating. Remember the Republican parties during the el;ection? They CHANGED THE LAW to make bars stay open till 4 A.M. is that what we need? people running our country that need booze till 4 a.m.? why could it not have been Perkins, motel meeting rooms, etc. NO! it had to be bars, and the LAWS WERE CHANGED TO MAKE THE REPUBLICAN PARTY HAPPY! If you cannot find a problem with any of this, you have a big problem yourself. NOW keep my damn shoes and where they have or have not been out of it!!! Bottom line, I do not feel sorry for drunks that do stupids crap and go get themselves killed. I kinda wish they would all go get hammered and go for a walk on the side of the road if it would really be that easy.

TO THE FAMILY, let this be a lesson in what alcohol is really all about. Now be resposible and go out and try to slow it down, or just turn your head and go get drunk to make yourselves feel better only to find later the issue still exists. STUPID MINNESOTANS!

Teen pleads guilty in assault on UMD student from Arden HIlls - Drunk at the time of the incident.

Two men rape 13 year old girl in front of mother - defense attorney Scott Ileas says alcohol was a big part of it,both men need cosideration.

This list could go on and on. Have ANY of you EVER seen an article like these headlines because of someone smoking Marijuanna? HELL NO!

The writing IS on the walls, you people just need to grow up and learn how to read.

A man who allegedly was too drunk to hold his 3-month-old baby, leaving his 7-year-old to carry her across a busy St. Paul street, was charged Monday with child endangerment.

"My daddy kept falling over," the 7-year-old told police when asked why she was carrying the infant.
