I work at a pet groomer and we charge $40 for one dog and it only takes an hour. I use Rental Data because its the ONLY service in the Portland area that finds me EVERY rental that meets my needs EVERY day for a whole month for only $19 bucks. At todays gas prices, driving around looking for signs would cost me a hundred a month.

I am really glad that I found this website with your opinions about rentaldata.com . My husb and I are looking for a house to rent right now, and like everyone else, I've been checking out Craig's List... I found a few that I liked so I sent emails (they didn't have phone numbers), and lo and behold, that Mr. Edmonds sent me emails for 3 (yes, 3!!!) of the houses in one day... so I went to his website ( rentaldata.com ) to check it out. I read that they get all their info from other sites (thanx Mr. Edmonds, I found ebayclassifieds thru you! lol)... anyway, I sent an email to Mr. Edmonds asking him a question that I was curious about: why was I seeing all these great houses thru him at Craig's List and on ebayclassified, but THEY WERE NOT listed on his rentaldata.com website?

For those that don't know, you can "look" at their listings before joining, but you won't get the addresses or the person to contact until you pay the $35 fee. Anyway, all these wonderful houses, 90%, maybe 95%, of them are NOT LISTED on their rentaldata.com website. Mr. Edmonds did not bother to respond to my email, even though he sure had time to send me emails IMMEDIATELY when I wanted to know more about houses thru Craig's List, etc.

I even called their office and got some snotty woman on the phone. I was very polite, not accusatory. I asked her about a house that was on ebayclassifieds that said to contact them, but it wasn't on their website. She asks me what the address is, I tell her, she says she doesn't see that house listed so it was one that was "old" because they "remove them after 7 days" (another lie as I have seen some of the same houses listed there for weeks now). Anyway, I told her the truth: "No, it was just posted for the first time yesterday."... she had no answer for me and became real curt and abrupt, so I wished her a good day and hung up.

So anyone who is wanting to go thru rentaldata.com , save your money because they are an obvious scam. I mean, c'mon, what legit business doesn't even have an address you can go to in order to see them in person if you need help with their service???

So to sum it up: most of the houses (almost all of them, actually) that they are showing on Craig's List and ebayclassified are NOT on their own website at all.

Once again, thank you so much to everyone who posted about this scam place. I saved my $35 after doing my homework on the place.

I wish all of you a nice search for finding yourself a home in Portland.

I have just had a run-in with this organization while looking for homes in my area, and to add to the overall skeeziness of this business, the rental they listed is currently occupied by homeowners who are not looking to rent. Please be advised to stay far, far away from this "company" and its services. Honestly, how many of us need an auto-renewal account to find an apartment/home to rent? I'll be reporting them to BBB and Craigslist, where I found the listing.

True. Many of the rental properties are also listed by the worst property management companies and or property owners. They also spam the search listings by posting as many as 20 ads for the same exact units. Be careful when using Craigslist. The worst offender list under "FOR RENT BY OWNER", she uses ***** in her ads, and under cuts the rentals in the same number by 1/2. Example: Houses are renting for $1,200 but she lists at $699.00. She gets a tenant in, then "raises the rent" on them. She also stalks her tenants. She put the S in Slum Lord. The locals in the rental industry here call her "Sly Fox" just to give you a clue on who not to "rent from".

I'll be using this service, because my husband is in the Army and is getting out this year. We live in Texas and moving to Portland, OR, so it's either spend forever looking through all the ads myself and either rent a place sight-unseen, or pay 1k to visit and get a place lined up, or pay the $35 dollars that they told me about up front to get a list of places that they said up front was from other web sources and stay with my dad for a few days while we find a place. They were very honest about everything they do. Also when I told them the move was in October they said to call back in September and sign up just for a month or so. A real scam would have found a reason to get you to sign up right now!

As someone who has fallen prey to a similar scam before, I can say that it is worth it to do your research on http://www.firesidepropertygroup.com/sudbury.... before taking possibly detrimental action.

Your comments do not belong in the blog. This blog refers to "local" Portland OR rental properties and your link refers to a website in Canada with no Oregon listings.

I wish I had read this before plunking down 35 dollars.
It's a little disheartening to see this has been going on for a long time.
In addition to the same problems that others have;craigslist ads, bait and switch phony enticing ads........they also:
1 don't post brand new listenings that I have found on craigslist,
2 post some apartment listenings as house listenings
3 do not remove listenings after property has been rented.
A WASTE OF MONEY AND TIME!

Rental Data has been conducting legitimate business in the Portland Oregon area for 20+ years. I know this because I have bought rental data from them regularly, since they opened their doors. Whoever put them on a SCAM website, is #1 mistaken, and #2 probably has ulterior motives.
I met Rob, the owner, for the first time a few days ago, and he is the embodiment of his business...prompt, friendly, safe, down to earth, and quite intelligent.

Question: Did they just rip me off for $35, or are they going to continue to rip me off? Am I going to have to cancel my credit card in order to stop the subscription? Are they going to start charging stuff to my cc number?

Well, I just got scammed by them too. They charge $45 now and $15 every month after that for no visual search, 1992 - level search tools, and postings that are already on Zillow and Craigslist. rental_data.com is a joke.$45 down the drain.
