Interesting article. Didn't know Johny Appleseed had his own museum. Would like to visit. He is supposed to be an indirect ancestor in our family too.
Tom, in 19th century America there were dozens if not hundreds of non-mainstream Christ based religions; each espousing a unique philosophy. A few took off (think LDS) but most just faded away. Just because any one of these didn't adhere to your own particular mindset doesn't mean they didn't consider themselves Christians.

It's not my mindset. Lots of folks call themselves Christians but do not adhere to the Scriptures. Ergo, they are not Christians. Mormons like to imply that they are Christians but they are not. Jehovah's Witnesses do the same. I wonder what the definition of a Christ based religion is?
