Corning store's sugar cookies missed

Please Keep Drums cookie for sale. Great cookies Grew up with them starting about 1942. Tell me where can i purchase these cookes.

Chet Drumm (really spelled "Drum" .... but my family did things like that)was my Great Uncle. His brother, Howard Drum was my Grand Father. My mother still makes these same sugar cookies that I have been eating soon after I was born in 1951!!

The recipe was never given out. And even when my Great uncle Chet sold the cookie recipe with the store he said the cookie was never the same (must have been refined for quantity and not quality) he said that all the time and took it to his grave.

I'd like to but I feel like it should stay in the family .... I'm not sure why though and after my wife made some the other week-end with my teen age daughters (first time they ever had them) I thought it would be a great venture for the internet !?!

All I know is that there was a lot of publicity around here when the recipe was sold by The Food Mart to the folks at Spencer's Restaurant in Corning. We have bought them there, and they taste like the ones from The Food Mart.

What can I say .... I was told by my father when he was alive that Uncle Chet always felt that they never tasted like the ones he made.

I have tasted the cookies at both Spencers and Miniers, both tasty but not the same as the Foodmart.

It's kind of nice to read all the comments about a Sugar Cookie, but persons like yourself know they were not just a "Sugar Cookie". My sisters and brother were probably eating them before most of you and as I've said before in a past comment, we recently made them from the recipe given to my father and mother by Uncle Chet Drum (Drumm)back in the early 50's. I only know of one taste and it's exactly as Chet made them. We've decided to keep it in the family though .... anyone interested in a cookie venture ? A lot of possibilities over the internet !

The recipe was NOT sold to Spencers. Miniers was the place that it was sold to.

I'm only 24, but Drum's cookies have been a tradition in my family since my mother was a little girl. Most of our family now lives in Alaska, but whenever we go back to Painted Post we always stock up on cookies and bring them back home. When we heard that Drum's cookies weren't going to be sold anymore it was the equivalent of a family emergency. My Uncle Tim is trying valiantly to replicate the recipe, and has come close, but so far no cigar. All I know is that it would mean the world to everyone in my family if somehow the recipe could be shared.

I hope soon The "Drum Family" will be able to furnish the original "Sugar Cookie" on line. I'm not sure how Spencer's Resaurant could have gotten this well kept secret ?!?

I'm not sure how my name comes up with West Palm Beach under it. I still live in Sebastian, FL.
We Hope to have the cookies online (under a different name) with the actually last name that was given our family. We might even tell the whole story surrounding how the name was changed "twice" in the Drum family !! Interesting story.

One of my family's legends is that the recipe that Drumms used for one of their other cookies -- molasses maybe?-- came from my great grandmother, Harriet Johnson Bentley. Terry Drum, does that ring any bells for you?

Linda Spencer bought the recipe and makes the cookies at her restaurant in Corning. We used to get them At Rocco Astolfis store in Corning and have had Linda's as well. They are as close as you'll get to the originals. Here's something to remember. I cold glass of Kings Dairy milk and a Drumms Sugar cookie. Ummmmmm Show am Good!!!
