How do you know this is his kid have you had a DNA test done? And why would you wait 13 years later to tell him?

I need to speak to him because I think he deserves to know and I am ill. RE: his little girl...I do not blame you or your feelings...are we talking about the same "bill?" Was he adopted and his given name is McCoy? His real father is in jail? Same guy??? Stories he told me...? Who knows...I got pregnant in October 1996 and no--if this is the same Bill, he was not with your mother at the time...I am sorry. My son has a "father" that is raising him, but I have told him about Bill, mainly because Bill was a really cool guy and my son has his genes, aside from the fact that he deserves to know the truth. Bill has a rare blood type (the best I remember) and so does my son and my ex---the only other "partner" though not for three months either way--and I do not. I don't need a DNA...I just want to let him know...sad but true. No harm intended....life happens.

We are talking about the same guy and i know all about what happened. And no he does not have a rare blood type and his real given name was kerper. You left him in october and we got together early november of 1996 and we have been together ever since. I know my husband very well. But any way I have told him everything that you have wrote. So, he does know. I dont know what else to tell ya. He does not want to speak to you. I hope things get better for you and your family. Sorry to hear that you are sick.

Thank you very much and I am sorry for the mistakes in my memory. All I can say is that I tried and I can rest well with that. I wish you all the best. I promise I will not contact you again. Once, again I apologize very much.

Is topix really the place to discuss these matters? I mean props to you all because you all handled it very well, ESPECIALLY this man's daughter!! I would hate to think, at her age, that I got on topix and found someone looking for my dad and also discovering that I may have a sibling that no one knew anything about!! In this particular case things were handled in a very mature manner!! However, with most of the reactions of individuals on this website, I thought oh crap, this is about to get ugly. I guess, I would just hope that anyone looking for someone for this reason will react as responsibly as these families did! I am sure there was some disruption to normal daily life after discovering this, and maybe even some embarrassment, but it doesn't appear to have turned someone's life upside down as it could have! I just hope that before anyone uses this method to find a unknowing parent, that they first extinguished all other possibilities of contact! But again, this is just my opinion and you all reacted much better than even I probably would have under the circumstances.

Re: Really...yes, you are right and I am wrong. Yes, I have exhausted all means since I became ill last year. Obviously the wife (as gracious as she was) knew about Bill and myself "before" she got involved and was aware of our situation (Beaver Dam is not that big of a town)--whether it was ever disclosed over the many years or not. My bad. Terribly bad and I will close this dialogue and ask for forgiveness and truly wish everyone the very best.

I agree. If you all were able to handle this as well as you did then obviously you all are very mature adults and would have some curiosity about the child. Especially if the mother is ill and this may be his only chance to ever know the other biological parent. I only say this because I too have a parent I have never met and would love to have this opportunity.
