I'm Uncle Willie's daughter, Judy, and I said the prayer at the end of the show. It was a prayer I learned in day school at about 2 1/2. Daddy recorded it in our living room. A transcript was made and played on radio and then TV from about '53-'63. Thanks for remembering.

Daddy passed away in 1980 following a stroke.

Does anyone remember a kid's show that aired in Beaumont TX during the mid to late 50s called The Uncle Willie Show? Which station did it air on and who was Uncle Willie? Many thanks.
The Uncle Willie Club aired on Channel 6, KFDM-TV from 1955 to 1963. Uncle Willie was Bill Hammond, my dad. I'm Judy and I'm the one who recorded the prayer that closed his show every day.

Wow! What great memories of Cowboy John, The Circle 4 Club and Uncle Willy! I remember actually "being" on the Cowboy John Show and when he asked: "And Kenny, what are YOU going to be when YOU grow up?" I answered; "A jet pilot!" lol! Great memories!! How about "Jive at Five"...does anyone remember that show? It came on directly following the Circle 4 Club and it's host was John Stevens!(Black Bart)

Don't care what anyone says; "that" was the greatest time period in the world to grow up in!!

Hi Judy.... your Dad was such a special man! But I'm sure you already knew that! He brought smiles and happiness to many little children such as myself. He was a great man!

I lived in Beaumont from '56-'60 and attended Longfellow Elem. I remember the Uncle Willy show and was on it a couple of times. Also, remember the March of Dimes event and seeing James Arness, Dennis Weaver (remember driving to Chester, TX to see him in a parade one year), Clint Eastwood, Sheb Wooley, ...

In my minds eye I really think that I saw the show on the Circle Four Clue when Leroy made history. If I remember right, it even made it to Chet Huntley and David Brinkley that evening.

Re: Uncle Willie. I met him a couple of times. I think he came to the Roy Guest School over in Voth one time. I also remember his daughter, she said the prayer: it had lines like "thank you for the birds that sing" and "thank you for the food we eat."

Saw Don Mahoney one at the barbar shop in the Ridgeway Center off of I-10

I had some friends who lived near you on Concord. It was near that curve. Their name was Carr. I went to Rosedale Baptist Church.

I would love to have a copy of that prayer.

When we were just kids I met you somewhere.

One of my earliest memories is being on the Uncle Willy Show on my 4th or 5th birthday, I was a grand prize winner and won a battery powered rabbit, kind of like an energizer bunny on a cord, it was cool.

I too was on the Cowboy John show at age 6. I don't know if there is any surviving footage of the show. If available please post. Most of it was filmed live but surely after 14 years airing there should be something out there.

Here is a touching story I found from 2009 on Garner and Stevens:

I remember the Uncle Willie show. My dad took my sister and I there. I sung a gospel song and my sister played the piano. I know it was in the 50's and I don't think I had started school. I wish I could see that taping of the show.

To my knowledge, James Arnez never came to Beaumont. Dennis Weaver and Milburn Stone came in 1957 and stood outside KFDM to take the March of Dimes donations. It was very exciting to see them. Also, I was on the Uncle Willy's Show for my birthday. Those were special times!
