I love Hackettstown and have lived here for 21 years out of my 49 years.
I didn't think I'd have such a hard problem finding a decent local employer to work for... and didn't want to relocate precisely because I like it here in Hackettstown so much. Haven't worked in 4 years as most local places didn't want me for whatever reason...would be nice if they told me why so I could alleviate their concerns. I guess I'm not very good at selling myself, or the employers are not very good at reading people. One of the years I had a medical problem and couldn't work anyway. That adventure cost me $115k out of my own pocket at Hackettstown Hospital. But I'm alright now and 100% healthy and have nothing but praise for the hospital and staff. I worked for a local chemical company as a senior grade chemical operator for 17 years with an excellent record and numerous awards until it shut down in 2005, and would like to find a local job that can benefit from my 25 years of work experience. Chemical operating overlaps into: food processing, oil/gas handling, plastics, pharmaceuticals, electronics, water treatment, hazardous waste, machine operations, weights and measures, etc. etc. etc. But I'm willing and able to do other types of work also. I'm honest, hardworking, loyal, patient, friendly, creative...etc. NOTE: mean bosses and/or shifty companies need not ask me to work for them because I don't ever have to work again if I don't want to. I want to work for a pleasant, high ethical, interesting establishment. And yes, this is a serious request, and I have a resume and references for serious inquiries only. |

1. I had an interview at M&M Mars with Valerie, but she didn't like me for some reason even though I've lived and worked in Hackettstown for a long time, and had more than ample experience to do anything there.
2. The guy who heads HMUA was nice enough and would have hired me, but he left it to his supervisor who hired his brother-in-law instead. His excuse was that I wasn't currently working. 3. Joe B. over at Compac wouldn't hire me probably because he mentioned that they were having a blood drive and I told him I couldn't give blood because I had a aversion to blood called hemophobia...but it was only an aversion to my own blood not of anyone else. 4. Then I have the occasional $8hr. job offer that's located 40 miles away. So you spend 2 hours on the road per day, and gas costs $4 a gallon...I wind up losing money in the long run after I ruin my vehicle driving there after 4-5 years. There's no way I'm commuting that distance or relocating for $8-10hr., forget it. These are the kind of wacky interviews and offers I get... What's with these people? I just don't get it. |
