Too bad we all can't be as educated and well-spoken as lol, but unfortunately the world we live in has its share of problems no matter where you are.
One of my close friends lives in Knoxville and she removed her daughter from Knoxville schools to go back to her small home town of Roan County where she said it's almost as bad as Knoxville, but at least it's a smaller version.
Look at what just happened at the University of Tennessee today...the firing of Coach Dooley. Dooley, in my opinion, is a class act. He might not be the best coach in the world, but he attempted to overcome the situation surrounding him when he signed on to Coach the Vols...and that's the thug mentality that seems to come from EVERY direction.
It's not just Morristown or Jeff City or Knoxville....it's wide-spread. True, Morristown is not like it was when I was a kid, but it's still Morristown and no matter where you go, from what I understand by talking to friends and relatives who have moved away...it's practically the same.
Is it going to get better? I don't think so, but that's my opinion. I'm not going to bash people who don't believe the way I do, but I honestly believe taking Jesus out of schools and out of everything has a lot to do with it.
The less people understand about God, the worse it's going to get. Time will tell...but there's no sense in coming on here and cussing people just because you think you're better than they are...except to inflate your own ego.

I agree with this, but what to do? Looks to me like the jails and court systems are complaining about the overcrowding, but they swat them on the hand and push them back out onto the street into the same environment they came from.

Rehab is a JOKE. They send a person to detox for 7 days and tell them to stay away from their alleged 'friends,' but then they send them home and guess where they end up? Instead of keeping people for at least a month, they want to detox them and send them back home, relying on them to go into NA or whatever, which usually doesn't happen. It's my opinion they do this just to make the money off them cuz in the end they will be back a few times. Most of the time when people claim they want to stop using drugs, they really do, but it usually takes a few times of all the garbage and trying to quit to get them to the point where they actually do it.

They have the power to do is on their own.....but they have to get it straight in their own minds, I think. These are just my thoughts. I wish I had an answer to the drug epidemic.

People here have for the most part given up. They have lost any ambition they had. Oh there are a few who might do ok. But.. for the most part, the people have said "its over". They are tired of competing with illegals for jobs. They are sick of struggling to make ends meet on minimum wage. They see others getting free homes, free food, free health care, and free evrything else. They have relized they were played a fool. Told a grand lie by the politicians and factory owners about how hard work would pay off. In this day and age in Morristown, it pays better to be on welfare than to work full time . Plus they are eligible for family benifits on welfare they can never have from a job. They also have lots of time they would have never had if they worked full time . Its like everyone is on a drugged up el-cheap-o vacation. You will never see this place get any better until wages rise, and quality of life gets better for the workers here. Nobody has any reason to have pride in Morristown. They have no respect for the cops that allow illegals to walk around unfettered. They have no respect for any of the politicians that allow factories and illegals to flurish and destroy thier town. They have no respect for each other because no one will back the other to right these wrongs. They have lost thier own self respect by giving into the easy way out and jumping on the gravey train of welfare and pills. The towns slowly croaking. It will just be another dead small town that use to be a manufacturing center and pillar of America. How long before there are more charities and homeless shelters than there is factories with workers?

You always ruin what could have been an educated post with your "the less people know about god" bullsh*t. Are you really that stupid as to think that your god, over ALL the other 3,000 gods worldwide is the one and only true god? Well, if you answered yes to that question, so does the rest of the world. Religion and education does NOT mix. Children shouldn't be taught "what" to think, they should be taught "how" to think.
FYI: I'm not stupid. The fact you have to constantly bad-mouth people sadly shows your own misgivings. Too bad you are so clouded with hatred you have forgotten (assuming you ever knew) how to be a nice and decent person. Decent people, regardless of their religious beliefs, know how to talk to people. You do not.

I was 'taught' all about God when I was a kid but when I got old enough to make my own decisions, I 'forgot' everything I learned. I went about my own business with no thoughts for God. It wasn't until I reached rock bottom that I realized I needed something this world couldn't give me.

That is when I started studying God. I started reading about Him and learning about Him. The stuff I learned as a child didn't do squat for me. It was what I learned as an adult that has changed my nasty ways.

I talked like you do and I treated people like you do. I don't know how people stood me because I could hardly stand myself. I'm glad I'm not that way any more.

I could care less how many other alleged gods there are. They are NOT, and I repeat...NOT the same as the one, true Living God. Until a person experiences God for him or herself, they're not going to understand it. I certainly don't expect you to understand it because you are too filled with hatred.

Prove it. Didn't think so.
Those who knew me years ago can attest to the change in my life. People like you wouldn't claim to see proof if it was spelled out before you, but God doesn't have to prove Himself to you or anyone. It's your choice to believe or not and clearly, you choose not to believe. Stop acting like a child about it. You've made your stand and everyone on Topix has seen your posts and can draw their own conclusions just like with me.
Happy trails to you. Life is too short to be so hateful.

Here we go again with the secret decoder ring analogy. You're such narrow and mindless person.
When it comes to God, yes, I am narrow-minded because I've lived without Him and I will never be willing to do it again.
You can resort to name-calling if it makes you happy. You're not bothering me by doing it. I hope you have a nice evening.

rehab is not any measured time it takes a life time. don't know how to stop some drugs, but the pills I would say start at the top hold the companies responsible for keeping track of who they go to, make the doctor's and pain clinic's responsible for who they wright the scripts for , make the pharmacist responsible for who the sell em to. give every pill a batch number to track it. if those pills are involved in a death or found in the wrong hands you no where they originated. now find the party that failed and prosecute the week link. I will gaurantee it will slow down this handing them out crap thats going on now. you just go to the doctor whine about some pain you have and you get a script. ask a pill head they could tell you how to stop it

Well, there are all different walks of life Norah. Those thugs are someone's babies too who for whatever reason never got a chance or didn't know how to take one, consider yourself and your family lucky if you've not been stricken with the same fate AND birds of a feather flock together, would you live in that part of town? Obviously not so that really has no bearing on this topic any way. The further I read your post, the more I realize YOU are the exact type of person that makes living in Morristown such a drag. You are so negative, insensitive and all about your redneck self.
