What happened to the old Rescue Squad in Bean Station? Seems like it looks like a dump when you pass by. Everythings scattered around the building.LOL Guess that stuff happens when kids Hold offices and the grown up members have just gave up. When you see them in a Crash truck, it looks like kids just trying to see action. They need the old members to stand up and run the operation. Wonder what grants they'd get if the state board from T.A.R.S came for a visit.

Here's a suggestion for you. As a former member, and one who put in 12 hour shifts driving people to the doctor's office, hospital, and answering emergency calls.....ALL FOR FREE...NO COST TO THE "RESIDENTS OF BEAN STATION?. One who paid his own way with no compensation for time spent serving my community. Didn't cost you one red cent, and it still doesn't. If you are so concerned, why don't you join the Rescue Squad, get the required certifications these "kids who are driving the crash truck" have from TARS, pay your own way, and serve your community instead of being critical of those who do. Better yet, while they are serving you, why don't you stop by and "tidy up" the grounds around the building, buy a couple of cans of paint and paint the most visible parts of the building, and spruce things up in appreciation for their FREE SERVICE TO YOU AND THE OTHER RESIDENTS OF BEAN STATION. Well, how about it Bean Station Resident...just how concerned are you? Concerned enough to do what those you criticize do and volunteer? I sincerely doubt you have the intelligence or fortitude to step up to the plate like a man and serve. A truly "gutless" resident of Bean Station. Sad to say, there are many more like you, but know what? These "kids" will break their necks to get to you if you have an emergency. Instead of being critical, how about being thankful!

Never once was anything mentioned about former members. Thats the problem, the young gun kids ran you out.The last thing I want is a member on disabilities running to my rescue. Guess what, I think thats robbing the citizens of Bean Station when you draw off disability and then serve full- time as a driver of a Rescue Squad. The thing that would be best is if the Ambulance service would just take the Rescue Squad over. I would rather PROFESSIONALS answer Emergency calls instead of members running everyone off the road trying to get to a building then sit there 10 min. with a truck running. HAVE YOU FORGOTTEN THE GOLDEN HOUR BEGINS WHEN AN INCIDENT HAS OCCURED....NOT WHEN YOU FINALLY GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER TO ACTUALLY GO.Members with Ambulance shirts on that drive the trucks seem to be safe drivers....

Since you know about the GOLDEN HOUR it sounds like you have don't this before. If so then you should know how it is. Come on out and volunteer and see what all it takes to run the emergencies in Bean Station. As a VOLUNTEER organization, we depend mostly on the donations of the community. As far as grants are concerned, they are very scarce due to the fact that we are not fire/rescue. The professionals so answer your emergencies but they occasionally need a first responder or some assistance if it's a bad call. Tell me when you saw the truck sit at the building for 10 mins running after they passed you and "ran you off the road"? I would really like to know. Thanks to the former member that posted. They know how it is as well. Everything we do is FREE OF CHARGE to the community. If the call comes and you are trapped in a car, who is going to be the ones to cut you out in Bean Station? WE ARE!!!!! Come out and join us. You never know what you might learn.

Citizens are not robbed, when the vast majority didn't pay anything for the services to begin with. Here's a suggestion for you. When you or your family needs the Bean Station Rescue Squad, don't call 911, call Morristown Rescue Squad, Rutledge, Hawkins County, Knox County, or some other Squad that is staffed by, as you put it, "professionals". Wait for them to arrive as you or your family member suffers. If you don't want the service, you don't have to use it. I wasn't "run off" as you put it. I got tired of listening to complainers like you griping about the time I spent unpaid, volunteering my own time. To put it simple, so you can understand it, people like you just don't matter anymore, and aren't worth what it cost me and my family. THANK YOU TO ALL THE VOLUNTEERS OF THE BEAN STATION VOLUNTEER RESCUE SQUAT, GRAINGER COUNTY, HAWKINS COUNTY, KNOX COUNTY, HAMBLEN COUNTY, AND ALL THE OTHER VOLUNTEERS. AT LEAST SOME OF US APPRECIATE YOU!

I have noticed all you big talkers have been silent for the last 8 hours. I'll bet you are out volunteering to join the Rescue Squad or Fire Department like a GOOD citizen would/should do, and serve their community instead of sitting back and waiting for someone else to serve so you can criticize and complain!

No. I figured my point was made clearly. Even though some don't see. It does cost us Citizens because beings that (Vol. Depts) get grants, they are from Citizens taxes...Wowwww. I stopped by the Rescue Squad one time and it looked like the people were there sleeping. My tax dollars helped pay the electric bill just for people to be able to stay for days and days in a Public Building.....All I seen was people sitting in some big room cursing and yelling about some game they were playing.....Our tax dollars paid for that... I feel that if people are Volunteering, my taxes should be used for training those kids. This will be my last statement on this post. However if I ever thought about ever joining a Volunteer Service, the members would have to be more mature.

You prove MY point exactly. By the way, neither organization would accept you. They don't allow such low intelligence and lack of ability to join. THANK YOU RESCUE SQUAD AND FIRE DEPARTMENT...ALL VOLUNTEERS AND UNPAID!

Old topic but new post. I invite any member of the public to visit the rescue squad building on the first Thursday of every month at 7:00pm. That is the time and place of there monthly meetings. As they are a public service they have nothing to hide. If you want to find out anything come ask.
