Police said Halton, who was still sitting in his vehicle, used a 9mm handgun to fire two or three shots at West as he exited his cruiser.

Then, Halton exited his vehicle, made an aggressive move charging toward West’s slumped body and fired two or three more shots.

West did not have a chance to draw his weapon. His body fell to the ground and he was slumped against the side of the cruiser with the door open.
The other two responding units fired shots but did not hit Halton.

Halton then got back into his vehicle and attempted to put his car in reverse to maneuver out of the driveway.

He then exited his vehicle and started running toward a house on Beechwood, one block north of Altamont, where he knew the homeowner.

He reportedly started shedding his clothing as he ran.
