My wife and I are looking at several towns to move to down the shore area. One of the townswe are looking at is Bayville. I was wondering if anyone could tell me about these 2 developments, Oak Crest and Berkeley Woods. The homes appear to be very nice but I would appreciate any information you can give me about the area and also how close they are to shopping? Also if you have any other areas that are as nice. Thanking You in advance, Mike.

Just got out of bayville after 12 years and went back north (north Jersey). Bayville is transient for the most part; cheap yes and with reason - the high school hosts gangs and plenty of drugs. Cops on duty full time there. People are from planet bizarre and will not talk to you unless you initiate all conversation. Anyone with anything on the ball gets out before it is too late! Look at Forked River, Barnegat, Manahawkin - same general low price range without as many negatives. Good luck.

Being a retired police officer probably does not have kids in the high school. You are better served elsewhere. If you're from Williamsport, you will feel right at home in Bayville - same idea - plenty of people who do not work, collect a check and hang out looking for trouble.

Hi we moved to Bayville last year and bought a new house across the street from the Grand Development. I wish we bought one in the develoment. I love the models of the homes. Let us know if you move here. We got two kids and are new to the area as well. My husband still commutes to north jersey. It is a little rough but the commute to the city I believe is shorter than his commute. I think they are suppose to put a train here one day. You think they would have done it already with all this enviromental concern.

Just have a question on the Grand development. Do you know who the builder is so I can check out the development on-line? Also how far have they gotten with the building of this development. Thanks Mike.

Hi, they are almost done. Almost all the homes are done, the homes are beautiful and the prices have dropped so much. I don't know who the builder is but you can google the development on line and find out all the info. I don't know what the other reply about the guy from north jersey but I will say that there is a mix of people down here. I have met some really nice people and a lot of weird ones but I think you have that everywhere, you just become used to it. As far as drugs in the high school, every high school has it. The highest rated schools in north jersey are the same. I don't know if I will stay here for ever but it is a nice town and a lot of kids. Good luck!!!!!

Bayville is decent. Yes there is some crime but not a lot, I can take a walk without getting mugged or anyone bothering me. As for people who don't work, look for trouble, do drugs, etc, you can find that in ANY town, not just Bayville.(you'll find it in Toms River, Beachwood, Lacey, Barnegat, Brick, Lakewood, yadda yadda, I'm sure you get the point)
As for the high school, you would be better off sending them to another district or private school. Central takes kids from all over the county such as Seaside Heights which is known for its large amount poor people and drugs.
Basically Bayville is a fine place to live, it certainly isn't the absolute best nor is it the worst or anywhere near it. If you don't look for trouble, you wont get it. simple as that. And on the very rare occasion that you may be bothered, there is always 911.

I don't know what crime these people are talking about or gangs. It is a safe area. I grew up here and it used to be such a beautiful quiet place to live with plenty of wildlife and no traffic. It's these people that are making those comments are the people that have ruined what it used to be like here. It is still a great place to live. We are close to the beaches, 3 cities are easily commuted to, we have easy access to major highways, and the schools are good in spite of what others say. I went to school here. I know. The kids that come from seaside are not poor drug addicts like Paul says. I hope he's happy in his delusion that kids in private schools with access to money don't touch drugs or raid their parent's medicine chests. Sorry, I am really annoyed by some of the ignorant comments on here. If you live in an urban area and come to live here it is a big adjustment. There really is no public transportation and you need to have a car. Bayville is old with a lot of history and there are families that have lived here for over 100 years. I am glad that the people who found us bizarre moved back to where they came from.

What a mistake! Bayville is by far the worst place on the Jersey Shore to habitate. Get out if you can before it's too late! Crime, gangs, drugs...Bayville has it all! From the crack motel on route 9 to the gang housing behind the Shoprite. Just discusting!

Sandra needs to re-examine her surroundings. Yes, Bayville WAS. Problem is what Bayville IS! I have to agree with Phil. I am stuck here now that values have plumeted. Trapped until some benny or other fool buys my house.

I've been living in Bayville for close to 5 years and I hope I never go to any of the areas that these people are talking about. CRIME in Bayville? Not sure where. I walk around this town very comfortably and do not fear. SCHOOL in Bayville bad because of the Seaside kids....people really need to stop generalizing. My child goes to the High School and has never had a problem. Good teachers that care are what I have found in the school. Taught at a PRIVATE high school and can tell you that if you are looking for a drug-free school, run away from private schools. When money is no option, drugs seem to appear very quickly. I've never seen gangs in Bayville although I am a teacher and there are groups of posers in EVERY school. I would never say that Bayville is the worst place to live in the Jersey Shore but I would never post anything without checking my spelling either as Phil has. lol

bayville is not a bad place the so called crime comes from punk high schoolers that do not know what they are or want te be. NAme a town that does not have this problem. And yes may have some none americans however, they for the most part segregate them selves anyway. Bayville is also in a not to bad traffic wise area when it comes to rt9 I am from there currently in beachwood and plan on moving back to bayville when time comes for me to buy a house. The only problem with this area is those benny's if you can get past them or learn to ingnore them you will be fine...
