Full story: Eureka Times Standard![]()

Leave it to the Times-Standard to devote an entire fluff piece to a website and then fail to give the website's URL! I notice that they forgot to mention the real reason that EPD had to switch to the City of Eureka's main website. It was due to the fact that someone at EPD forgot to pay the yearly registration fee and the domain was subsequently scooped-up by a company in Asia that used it to sell marital aids, among other things. The company has since removed most of the ads (probably because they weren't selling enough marital aids), but continue to use the title "The Official Website of the Eureka Police Department", as a thumb in EPD's eye. An article about it appeared in The Eureka Reporter quite some time ago. I'm not sure if the Times-Standard ever covered it though.
The domain thing wouldn't be such a big problem, were it not for the fact that it appeared on the Eureka Police Department's letterhead for years, and that hundreds, if not thousands, of pages of the department's documents display the old http://www.eurekapd.org address on them. I seriously doubt that the City of Eureka will (or should) ever trust them to run their own website again. |

Lame.

I was staring at http://www.eurekapd.org/ wondering where all the "goodies" they talked about were. Maybe they wouldn't have let the registration expire if it really were more "plug and play". What? Actually, I think the Asian marital aid website is more "plug and play". I thought that term was used for hardware devices. |

Stupid Police, it's no wonder they catch NOTHING.

???? It's the ugliest thing I have ever seen... besides Joan Rivers. That can't be it. Even cops aren't that dumb. Are they? |

Nine shot and wounded outside S.F. concert
Henry K. Lee, Chronicle Staff Writer Monday, November 16, 2009 www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi... Another prime example of decades of failed social engineering by the Left in an extremely Liberal bastion! Does it ever end? |

What about data on traffic accidents? I would be interested to see how many people ran red lights on 7th Street and on I Street, because there are always collisions at 7th & E and at 7th and I. EPD doesn't care. They don't even report the red light runners to DMV!!! I would want to know where traffic collisions occur because those can be dangerous intersections, and I would have more information.

Why is everyone else who is posting here from Oakland?!!?
|
||||
|
The Oakland posters are likely the same person.
|

The location is not actually where the people are. It is a technical issue; something about the ISP or available bandwidth
I am in Eureka right now as I type this |

The URL is,
http://www.ci.eureka.ca.gov/depts/police/defa... A shorter domanin name will be announced soon. |

If a person gets on the City site and looks up the quartery reports, traffic stats, including the most common areas for tcs are listed. Good information. You may ask for it on a monthly basis from EPD if you desire.
|
||||
No, that is part of the old one. The Russians bought the old domain name. http://www.ci.eureka.ca.gov/depts/police/defa... Here is the new one. New domain soon. |
