Well, there wasn't really anything "allegedly" about it.. he DID step in front of the truck.

what a selfish act to do to Mr. Eaton. Now this pedestrians actions have potentially scared a man's life
Sure it wasn't a rabid Arcata person?

i'd kill myself too if i had to live with all you inbred redneck twatsticks

peace to this truck driver/person who will have to have this in his heart for time and healing. And for a person to do this kind of action, they had to be very troubled and this is a saddness that we as a group of people have become more used to hearing. if you have a family or friend that is struggling...offer help, prayer, love, support.

He ran out of speed so he decided to end it. Good riddance.

Is it just me or does Humboldt county have a ridiculous amount of suicides (luckily the newspaper doesn't report on many of them). Maybe we should follow in line with Oregon and get a assisted suicide program started. Sure would save the tax payers a lot of money, and spare people like Mr. Eaton these horrible experiences.

You people don't have a clue who you are even talking about...what if if was someone close to you, someone you might have known or loved. This man was a good man. He was a decent human being that had been suffering from depression for a long, long time. Yes it is horrible that he had to involve another person in his act (if indeed it was a deliberate act), but why don't you just treat him as a good person that you never had the opportunity to meet. METH KILLR, Cedric - The POX on you two! Martin was my cousin and he had been very depressed after his mother passed away. martin was a lovely gentle, sensitive human being.
When something tragic and awful happens to you (and it WILL be real soon!) I hope you remember your comments and your inability to be compassionate human beings. You are swine! My thoughts and prayers are with my family and the driver of the truck. I am so sorry you became part of my cousins choice in ending his life. |
BTW, thank you those of you with compassionate hearts and comments about the death of my cousin Martin and kind words for Mr. Eaton, an unfortunate participant in this tragedy.
LMAO... just one more example of Humboldt County's well educated members. what a brilliant conversationalist!!! My prayers to the families of the parties involved. |

This kind of thing happened to my neice. The person who ran in front of her car went through her windshield and took the top of her head off. She left behind a two year old son who will now never know his mother. This person was depressed and had tried to take their life many times before. This persons family could have stepped in and helped in some way so this tragic accident would never have happened. There are drugs that help with depression, if one does not work others will. My neice was only 24 when she was killed. Killed by the act of a person with little concern about the life of the person they choose to end their life. Sure they might have been a good person. Depression can be treated and if the person won't help themself then the family should step up and help. Rest in peace Mariah, we love you. |
Jo Mama - Unfortunately, if an individual does not not want the help, there is nothing anyone can do. In this case family members had stepped in to try and help, but if the person chooses not to help themselves and refuses help from those who love them, then there is nothing left that can be done. My thoughts and sympathy goes out to you and Mariah. Unfortunately she, like my cousin, made a choice and there nothing anyone could have done about it short of locking them up and force feeding them anti-depressants.
