The real problem with Rio Dell is 3 people
Julie Woodall, Milissa Marks, and Stephine Buchinane. These three lady's have no clue as to what they are doing and nothing is going to change in Rio Dell until they are gone. I will love to see the day the citizens of Rio Dell stand up and push them out of town like they have done to others in the past. |

Who can turn the world on with her smile?
Who can take a nothing day, and suddenly make it all seem worthwhile? Well it’s you girl, and you should know it With each glance and every little movement you show it Love is all around, no need to waste it You can have a town, why don’t you take it You’re gonna make it after all You’re gonna make it after all How will you make it on your own? This world is awfully big, girl this time you’re all alone But it’s time you started living It’s time you let someone else do some giving Love is all around, no need to waste it You can have a town, why don’t you take it You’re gonna make it after all You’re gonna make it after all… The End. |

It's inappropriate for any council member to directly contact a city staff member. You always, always go through the city manager first. If this wasn't occurring in Rio Dell, no wonder she resigned.
|
||||
That would surely help, but the problem with Rio Dell is that there is always at least three nitwits on their city council. Rio Dell, the dumbest city on the Northcoast. |

Although I understand that the California Public Records Act gives a public agency ten days to "respond" to a request for records, I find it very frustrating that the Times-Standard was not provided a copy of Ms. Flemming's contract by deadline. Surely, there was quick access to the contract since the Council has been meeting in closed session on this matter. This contract is accessible to the public, too.

I disagree, a case can be made that Arcata, while well educated, is dummer than Rio Dell if you take into account that common sense is a part of intelligence. Rio Dell has serious issues as a result of low income, drug, all driven by a huge loss of jobs over the last decade or so. If you stand up on the Scotia Bluffs looking down on to the town, blur your eyes a little, you can really see the reason why the town is there and the real potential of the town. Its really a beautiful spot. I am not sure of the whole issue but there have been some recent firing of long term staff that I am lead to believe is personally motivated and blatantly false in many aspects. |

What's with the haircut? |

Touché on Arcata! |

Nancy Flemming is an elietist who came to town when much was expected but nothing was ever delievered. Rio Dell needs a working City Manager not just a meeting attending manager. Stephanie Beauchine needs to be OUT! Nothing will change until she is gone. The tension she causes within the city is UNBELIEVABLE. Her power trip is to great for the City of Rio Dell. As far as Mike Dunkers comment about the micro managing of the council. If it weren't for certain city council members the city would have collapsed months ago.(NO LEADERSHIP) Ask Mike Dunker how much he spent on travel expenses last year? OH Yea! Wasn't that his son hired by public works last year. NO pressure there???

Last year Rio-Del was told it needed to raise its water bills to $150 per month to completely update its waste water system now estimated to cost $15 million. Dumping this mess in Metropolitan is pure Flemming. While Mayor, Flemming did nothing to secure the $15 million needed to update the Eureka waste water system back when the city had some money and the sewers had record overflows, this system will soon cost $40 million!
Flemming's all about old-school development and perpetuating the fallacy that it generates the tax base needed for the services it requires. She did nothing to stem the tide of sprawl that's caused this mess and her developer-benefactors are undoubtedly anxious to poor the usual fortune into her campaign to continue their plans for more sprawl. Flemming and her city manager Harvey Rose did everything they could to plop a Wal-Mart on Eureka's last largest public zoned waterfront property, to hell with the traffic and the public outrage. It's a mystery she survived this long in Rio-Del. If her claim to support work-live developments downtown is honest, this would have been considered downright "communistic" in Eureka. Flemming is one of the most vindictive and self-serving politicians Eureka has ever endured. Her run for supervisor was close due to historic low voter turnouts. The large Obama turn-out ushered in a new political era in Humboldt County that began with Clendenen and Lovelace. To be fair, there's a place for everyone in this world and Crescent City would welcome Nancy Flemming with open arms. |

This has little to do with money and more to do with the dysfunctionality of RD, its mayor and the city council. Fleming was making some very positive changes but you know, if your council won't follow the law and gets "out there," there is little to do but resign. Ms. Fleming didn't need the job, but others who have been recently targeted by the mayor and the city council...well lets just say the mayor and the city council will have a lot to answer for.

If they raise the water rates to $150/month, no one will be able to afford it. It's bad enough as it is. Conserving water makes no difference. The base rate is $80. Give or take a few bucks. And if you pay late then they charge 10% of the bill.
If I'm not mistaken, Ms. Beauchaine's husband works for the Rio Dell police department. |
||||
|
Yes Stephanie is married to policeman John Beauchaine and Graham Hill hired his brother in law Kevin Harrelsen after he was fired from public works and ex Mayor Ernie Canaday got his recently fired son in law Jim Hale his job and Mike Dunkers son works for the city public works and it goes on and on. And the good ole boy network goes on. There is a developer who built about 8 houses all in one area and they all look alike and were built without putting in paved roads and underground utilities and got by without being classified as a subdivision. How do these things happen. Building inspector apparently is another good ole boy. And dont forget the council hiring Jay Parrish illegally and all of the legal services involved in defending what they knew was wrong. No wonder the water bills have to be so high to pay for everyones lawsuits.
