I was at the Walmart Saturday and there was a band of gypsy woman working the parking lot. The first came up while I was driving through the Whataburger parking lot. We rolled the window up and didn't listen to her spiel.

She looked Hispanic far away, but when you saw here close up and heard the accent you know exactly what she was.

Pulled around to the gas station there in WalMart parking lot, and was pumping gas and noticed a second one making her way in my direction. She was hitting up everyone who crossed her path. She walked up and said, "I don't want any money from you, I...."

I stopped her dead in her tracks, "you are a gypsy aren't you? There is a group of you working a scam in the parking lot."

"Gypsy?" She says, "what is a gypsy." She walks away and starts in on the next car.

That is the first group of gypsies I have seen in La Porte. Anyone who runs into them should be careful. If you think I am being reactionary, ask any policeman, he will tell you.

Some people don't think they are real. They are.

They will panhandle or give you some sob story about getting the baby to the hospital or getting a ride to a job. they will watch yor purse or wallet if you open it to help. Then, if you watch them, they will walk to a nice new car or someone will pick them up in a new Escalade.

We had a gypsey family in a rent house in Houston. They paid cash for for rent, 6 months in advance. Two families lived there. Then they left without paying the last 3 months and left the house trashed. they pay cash for everything and don't leave any paper trails.

Just don't give any money to anyone except a reputable charity.

I have been dealing with them for years. They are a menace. If they have set up a nest in La Porte, they will prey on the elderly.

The best thing to do when dealing with one is to immediately make them aware that you know what you are dealing with.

Be very blunt and abrupt. They have developed very thick skin, they will not respond to anything besides strength.

"Back Gypsy! I know what you are!" Will usually set them back on their heels.

Had a guy ask for money so he could buy a cell phone last week in front of krogers. It was very weird.

Why not? Some poor old lady will feel sorry for him and give in.

So weird... We were at the Walmart in Baytown. A girl came up to us saying she needed formula for her baby and she didn't want or need cash. I told her she should go to a food pantry for that. She then asked for a ride to one. We said no. Then I watched her and another lady, who desperately needed a bra, walk up to everyone they came across. Thankfully all those people said no. I felt bad for the baby, if there really is one, but that's what WIC, church charities, and food pantries exist for. Do not beg me for handouts saying you need help or a ride when you were able to get to Walmart yourself.

I have been sstopped outside Bullritos, Angels on Underwood, and Kroger gas station from strangers supposedly out of gas and wanting some "gas" money ...I am very compassionate, but always say no to these types....then I leave with guilt wondering if myself or my children could ever someday be in their shsoes - legitimately...

I think it's all the chemicals in the air and water... luckily I was able to spend a few years in a CLEAN environment to clear my head out a bit.

Why would I want to go and mess up a clean environment... when I could stay here and fight the cause of a dirty environment everywhere?

This is the front line in the battle for our future.

Get a clue.

Gypsies, tramps and thieves
We'd hear it from the people of the town
They'd call us gypsies, tramps and thieves
But every night all the men would come around
And lay their money down

You have no ideal of a real gypsy until you have seen a true Roma. You are just repeating a stupid song sung by a stupid entertainer. Cher's lifestyle and children don't rate knowing anything of the true Roma heritage. I think you are describing the women that are hanging around bars in our own area.
