Man... this string has had nothing to do with me for almost a year... and YOU had to bring me right back into it.
Moron.
It's always about you.

The mayor is a good man and is doing a good job and I support him 100% and appreciate the job he does

Thank you Mayor Rigby, you really should post more often.

Give him a hand, folks!

Anyone who would use their office to fight a defamed and injured mother of small children is a despicable embarrassment to La Porte and to the constitution of the United States. The city should be ashamed of this slimeball.

Sounds like jealously. A man has to work to support his family. Duh. Mayor position pays nothing. Glad he is not one of those sucking off our city and it's connections with the port. Rigby is a good man. And has been for a long time. This is one that can't be bashed by the twist of lies some choose to project. I would only say, he needs to watch out for the slime he either plays golf with or the ones slinking around the golf course spinning vicious gossip about any move he makes. Don't any of you have anything better to do that taint anothers reputation? Know it is not Gilliam because he wouldn't be comfortable around any golf course.
Yep... you know me, no golf courses thank you very much. All of those trees that were cut down for that course were wasted... and the whole deal does nothing but cost La Porte money.

I'd much rather see it go back to nature.

I can say one thing about Rigby... he has done nothing to stop the bullshit attacks the City has been leveling against me... he may even be behind them.

One thing is for sure... we are going to find out.

Louis (Bubba) Rigby brings a knowledge of the History of LaPorte to City Hall, which is very important to maintain a perspective in decision making. I remember Bubba when his Dad (Doodles) was manager of the Port Theater and on the City Council. I don't believe anyone else could be anymore pro LaPorte than Bubba.

Ummm... anyone who votes to bring more poison to the air your children breathe is not your friend... nor do they care anything about La Porte.

All they care about is what they can get out of La Porte.

LaPorte is what it is and people live there because it is convenient to their jobs and it is removed to some extent from the mess in Houston. There is some price to pay, however things are not so bad in LaPorte as you make out. That being said, I am glad we moved to the piney woods of East Texas.

Well, you tell me why someone would spend in excess of $10,000 to get elected to City Council in La Porte.

I can give you the answer though... lots of money being spread around by the surrounding industry and big business, kickbacks, consulting fees, campaign donations from construction projects.

No one spends $10,000 for more stress and work without compensation.

The City of La Porte is full of "Good old boys" who spend most if their time sucking the city dry and entertaining their friends at the golf course.

It's gotta stop.

You are right. It should stop.
First, let's disband city council. Then fire all of the city personnel. Then, let's shut down all the city services like the police and fire department and most especially, the sewer and water systems.

Since no one will want to live here anymore, the port won't have a pool of labor to draw from and they will collapse. Then you will have your Utopia; an abandoned town.

Problem solved.

Wrong, Elaine.

Why can't we have a city that is not subversively run by the Port and surrounding industry?

I don't want to shut the Port and industry down... I just want them to be more responsible and stop usurping and expanding into La Porte.

Anything I would do would be a gradual change so as to cause as little disruption as possible.

One thing is for sure... things can't be allowed to get any worse.

La Porte has been decimated in the last 20 years... we need to begin repairing the damage that had been done.

I do not know anything about your mayor other than the fact that Heavy Fed doesn't like him. Anyone that Heavy Fed doesn't like can't be all bad.

All over this town we have people parking on the wrong side of the road. At least twice a week I have to dodge cars traveling on the wrong side of the road cause they are too lazy to turn around. It will take someone getting seriously hurt for the cops to get off their butts / sitting in front of the church all day, to get out a write some parking tickets.

I like the guy, but just wish they would do something about all the illegal parking in this town. so tired of driving down roads and be looking at someone coming at me head on because they are to lazy to park n the right side of the street. I have seen police drive right by illegal parked cars and they are too lazy to stop a write a simple parking ticket. Maybe we need a new police chief?

Actually talked to someone who lives near this crazy lady. This woman was not defamed and her children have been in many close calls with cars on the street. People should always be careful driving in a residential area , but they shouldn't have to be terrified of other people's children running out unsupervised in front of their cars.

Fed, 10,000$ is not a lot of money for many people in La Porte. There are many people who get involved in city government for two reasons , one is they had a bad experience dealing with the city and they want to effect some change, secondly they are civic minded and want to be part of the solution and not the problem . There are also those people who do it for the wrong reasons but I trust that they are a very small minority. Anyway for people who have worked hard ten thousand dollars is not a lot of money .

Apparently handicap parking places are just a joke in La Porte. The fine is so low people park their giant work trucks and kids park in them and jump out and literally run into stores from them. This is a n easy way to spot people of low character, if they park in a handicap spot without the plates or placards they are of low character. If they park on the cross hatched lines(which is illegal) and have the plates and/or a placard they are also of low character.

The parking on the wrong side of the street is prevalent in Fairmount and the cops or the home owners association should put a stop to it.
