<quoted text>So very true that Mr.jeter was TOO ILL to lead the organization or its staff which is why when he was in the hospital for three months at a time staff was told not to tell the board he was sick. Yet not surprising at all, the Harbor continued to operate without him present. The events girl must have had a strong personality since she was able to set fundraising RECORDS for the Harbor during her tenure-again, just sayin'....
I personally am not interested if the events lady earned a dime or a dollar. I, speaking for myself, think the entire subject is irrelevant. My favorite in that arena was Kathleen Laney. I on the other hand do care about what is said about Mr. Jeter. He truly did more for the Harbor than any other CEO in present history. He earned the respect that was given to him. How ever the last few months were, I believe that they are also irrelevant at this time. I know that he is one of the few that actually cared about the children and the staff. I am aware of a time at an event when one of the ladies in the office made a very unwise choice. And Mr. Jeter graciously forgave her and stood up to staff and board members that wanted her dismissed. He knew that leaving under those circumstances would be career ending at worst and career crippling at best. That was just one of many times he showed compassion. Lets honor and remember how he blessed us. The rest doesn't matter now

Mr oscar who was the whole maintence dept past away. He gave 25 years of his life to boys and girls harbor. 25 years that has and never been acknowledged by the board just like the other countless employees who have given many years of dedication. One place that has so many employees with 20+ years of service without even a thank you is disgraceful.

Sounds like the leaders of this organization does not reward or honor those hard workers who have committed to carry out the vision of the organization. I heard the cook retired a few months back after 20 plus years of committed service and was not given any recognition from the leaders of the organization. The past CEO would not have overlooked her hard work or dedication.

We bought a table to the last event and we have bought our last table. It was a sad sight. So many people that do not know what they are doing anymore. They are doing a good job of trying to divert attention but it does not take much to figure it out. Mr. Sweat came to our table 10 times and re introduced himself to us. After the fourth time we thought this must be a joke. After that we gave random names each time he came by to introduce himself again. And he came back over and over again. Was it mean and childish? Yes but it made us realize we did not feel comfortable opening up our check books for this cause. Which is sad cause we have always enjoyed contributing to the children of boys and girls harbor. Sad turn of events.

<quoted text>If memory serves me I believe Guy Sutherland was Mayor when Bayport began. I remember it a bit different. I understood that since the City owned the streets they could not be obtained by emminant domain and the City used them for bargaining chips for gains by the City of Morgans Point. Lets face it the people along Bayridge have a pretty sweet deal and don't complain much.
No, Guy was the LaPorte City Councilman for several years (and EXCELLENT at that nonpaid job) of the Lomax area, never the Mayor.

My suggestion is not closing your check book because that closes your heart. Remember this is about the children that live at The Boys & Girls Harbor, not the mindless man in charge. This place is called home to some of our future leaders. I strongly believe we it's people like you who give hope to the children and give them a reason to smile.

Guy Sutherland was also the Mayor of Morgans Point when he lived in the company housing at the old Tenneco plant on barbours cut. Guy was always politically inclined and did a good job wherever he served. Need more like Guy in today's world.
