The property at Genoa Red Bluff and Space Center is owned by DPISD. This low income housing project is for general population which is not limited by age. DPISD will profit $1,129,293.00 just after the people imposed a school tax increase upon themselves. You can check it out http://www.tdhca.state.tx.us/multifamily/htc/...

Click on 2013 9% Pre-Applications - Individually Imaged and then click image 13141. This is Genoa Trails Apartments, 100 units, will sit on 6.0748 acres, Abstract 43 Tracts 3E, 1GGG & 2H. Your representatives to contact are Larry Taylor, John E Davis, Mayor Annise Parker, Judge Ed Emmett and of course all of Houston City Council. The developer has applied for $1,100,000.00 in tax credits to get this off the ground.

A quote from the application "The Closing shall occur no later
than September 30, 2013; provided, however that Purchaser shall have the option to extend Closing for up to two (2) thirty calendar day periods by depositing $10,000.00"

Very interesting.

Just down the street south of Fairmont the State has already approved for new construction of a low income project.

I also wonder, if the complex almost directly across the street from DPISD property is consider low income or even the complex at Allen Genoa and Red Bluff.

Another thought would the full property be located in DPISD or just portions of it? Would the children be zoned to a DPISD school or Creek maybe Pasadena schools?

Since this is the last corner to be developed could they actually hold out for more $$$.

If you lived in a Baywood Oaks or Village Grove subdivision I would be concerned.

I totally agree. They should be very concerned. I would be very interested in finding out what discussions took place at the meeting and if there will be further discussions.

Yes DPTX, if you follow the link and the steps I gave you will see the property address, the acreage of property, who the purchaser is, the name of the complex, the amount dpisd is selling it for, the amount the developer is asking TDHCA for, the dates the documents were signed. A copy of the actual purchase and sale agreement between dpisd and developer is there, and the developers application to TDHCA. Purchase agreement was signed on Jan. 3, 2013. The developer applied with TDHCA on Jan. 7, 2013.
The information provided is for public viewing.
I am not up in arms about the project, but many that live in that area are. And still some are upset that this comes at the heals of the tax increase that passed.

OK, now I'm starting to understand what's going on. Sorry, been pretty busy and haven't had as much time to keep up with some of these things.

So, basically, DPISD will get the property sold and get to claim more state funds for those low income kids attending our schools. Isn't that wonderful! Then they can tell us how we need more schools and teachers... as they raise our taxes again.

Hmmm... maybe they could just bus them over to the old SJE and save some money. After all, they're going to be using the building anyway, after telling us it's too old and needs to be replaced. Since they've determined it must still have some usefulness left, they can use it to educate those poor kids.

There is not a need in the area for low income housing, therefore it should not be built. Makes me so mad that we work hard to live somewhere decent and crap like this starts to happen. So disappointed!

I am really disgusted by it all as well. Gee thanks DPISD.. Hey! Fairmont schools can get Title 1 money now. Oh boy..........

 Public comment is taken at all TDHCA board meetings and is accepted during the application review process.
 Public input for purposes of scoring is subject to a number of requirements, including deadlines, all specified in detail in the QAP.
 Regional public hearings are held to take public comment on 9% HTC applications (Applications for 4% HTC have hearings associated with their bond funding; no separate hearing is held for the 4% HTCs.)
 Hearing schedules, TDHCA board meeting announce-ments, and other informational notices are posted on TDHCAs Website at www.tdhca.state.tx.us .

This is coming from someone who doesn't know what he/she is talking about. I wasn't always in the position I am now, and I didn't grow up with much. My parents didn't ask for handouts and went work daily regardless of the job they had and you should not call poor people nasty.

After reviewing the website, it appears that there are three application request on Genoa Red Bluff, two close to Strawberry and the one at Space Center.

I wonder if the one mile rule applies, because it would seem to me all of them would be within the mile of each other.

For the Baywood Oaks and Village Grove neighborhoods, if you plan to fight this.

You may want to see if this property sits in the accident zone or clear zone of EFD (Ellington). It should be an automatic disqualification or a mark against.
