Any idea what's proper protocol in that situation? Appointment, vacancy, runner up?
No clue, but Mrs. Pressley should be considered. She is passionate about our city.

Wonder who will run for his seat? I do think if anyone on council vacates their seat to run for mayor, that would leave the seat open temporarily. I think council should appoint Mrs. Pressley as a temporary replacement as she pulled more votes last year than Mouton did in the year he ran and pulled more votes than Burke did last year. That would be the right thing to do.
Damn Shelly I wish you would give up on the "Andrea" thing, you don't even live here anymore!

Mr. Mouton's comment about more taxes:
“On the issue of the proposed Type B sales tax, he said he is in favor of it.”

On the subject of city services, city amenities such as the Battleground Golf Course are enjoyed by many in and around the city of Deer Park. While some residents see the course as just one of several “amenities” provided by the city for the enjoyment of it's residents, still others view the course's self-sustainability as something that has to be taken into consideration. The golf course does cost the city money to operate and based on financial statements periodically released to the public, doesn't make the money some around town think it should to remain open.
“The difficult thing would be to if you take the stance of ‘we should cut that,’ how do you go undo all of that when it's been here for an extended period of time?” asks Mouton.”

Having to ask “how” do you undo all of that, referring to the golf course, when it's been here for an extended period of time is not leadership. Leaders know how and act before an extended period of time passes!

“As the owner of Texas Lawn and Sprinkler, Mouton has had to make the decisions all business owners have to make: budgets, staff increases/cuts and how to increase their business. The same responsibilities apply to running the business of the city said Mouton.”

Seems like he can't make difficult decisions when it comes to suggesting to close the Republic Grill and or the Battleground golf course...never heard him argue that case as a councilman or have I missed something? Maybe he was too aggressively pushing to increase your taxes to find the time to make the needed cuts / closure of the grill / golf course.

I would suggest that loosing more than 1.2 million dollars on the golf course during the last fiscal year when the debt payment is including in the financial losses would trigger a leader to step up and make the difficult decisions that he talks about in his business, what say you?

My guess is the city is ran by about 3 strong willed council members. Maybe 4 now.

I wish enough citizens got involved to say that the citizens ran the show, but of course that isn't the case.

I didn't mean to come off rude Shelly (sorry I don't know how you spell your name). I thought I had seen your house up for sale a few months ago, my bad. About the Andrea lady I am sure she is nice person and I would have prefered her over Mouton, trust me but she has ran twice, if I'm not mistaken. I just feel like she is another "Cernosek" who keeps running but never makes it. Like I said, I am sorry for coming off as rude, I don't want to be one of "those people" on here. I am glad the Mayor is stepping down, just worried about what our choices are going to be and what the end result will be.

Rude? LOL I'd say down right tacky. No house on my street has been up for sale, so I guess I won't be expecting you for tea as you don't know where I reside. Don't put Mrs. Pressley in the catagory of others who have run several times. She lost the last election by 80 votes. As I stated, she pulled more votes than Mouton, when he ran, and Burke, when he ran last year. If she chose to run again, I am quite sure she would win. As far as Larry, he too, cares about our city. If he chooses to run again, I will vote for him. Remain anonymous, as that is what you are, like most on this forum. Enjoy your weekend, hand......

According to the article It seems to me Mouton is an MSNBC watchin' ultra-liberal progressive... saying things such as people have come to expect certain amenities, other things can be done = MORE TAXES.

"Annoyed" SDJS made a suggestion that I be appointed temporarily. Being appointed and running are 2 different animals. If Cernosek wants to run 20 times, he can do just that. I don't know why anyone would be bothered or "annoyed" by someone running as many times as they feel necessary to either achieve their goal.

So, who's going to go up against Mouton and reveal him for what he really is?... a puppet.

One thing I can predict, there won't be any new ideas or direction if Mouton becomes mayor. We'll see the same old crap we've been putting up with under the current "leadership."

I don't know which would be worse, Mouton or Burke. I would say it's a draw.
