Riddle said he was anxious to see the bids for the golf course.

"There's no question the golf course is savable We still have two years left on paying the bond, which is over $700,000 a year. When we're done paying that, we will be in the black. Even if we didn't lease it out, in two years, with the trends that are going on it, we will be making money on it when the bond is paid off," he said.

The golf course lost over $500,000.00 in the past fiscal year and that does not include the $700,000.00 in debt payment so just how will the golf course be in the black in two years since it has always lost tons of your tax money since inception? What accounting formula will they use to make it look like it will be in the black? What about the $360,000 to fix the bulk head, that is not included in the reported expenses either.

Add the debt/interest to the reported loss and the tax payers are on the hook for at least another $1,200,000.00 for the recent fiscal year. Its time to shut it down IMO. Use the space for consolidation of the baseball / soccer fields and parking or sell it and pay off all of the city bond debt. Use the money to fix priority infrastructure, i.e. streets, sewer, water treatment, Patrick bayou detention, etc. and quash the recent rain water tax and those hired to manage that dept.

The only way to drastically cut the losses would be to lease it out and have someone take responsibility for every penny spent on it instead of the tax payer. The City of Deer Park should not, IMO, spend not another dime on it.

How about we sell off the golfcourse. The money we get we pay the mayor & city council off so they never run for office again.
We may not make any money of the golf course sale, but the money we'll save would be well worthwhile!

Keep in mind, this is the same council that is now considering taking over at least part of the old San Jacinto Elementary for another community center. Why do we need another community center? Their reasoning is because we don't have one in that part of town!

So, what's next?
Another community center for the south part of town because we don't have one there?
How about another golf course on the southeast part of town because we don't have one there?
How about a tournament ball field because it will bring in money for the city (which is what they told us the BG golf course was going to do)?

In the mean time, they pass a rain tax to pay for storm water sewer costs.
They raise our property taxes.
They pass more sales taxes.
All the while, they look for more taxes, fees and other revenues to continue their spending sprees.

DPTX, it doesnt look like your regular postings, but I agree. Deer Park is a pretty small city. We dont need more community centers.

We do need a community center on the South Side of town. I would like to see inside the center an indoor golf training school with state of the art equipment. This would bring in tourists that would train then play. Locals would send their children to learn then play. Perhaps Deer Park could develop a crop of athletes in a sport other than the brain damaging game of football. These golfers would excel professionally then return with their million-billions and reinvest in the City. Perhaps Phil Mickelson would come and live here if he were to receive special tax considerations. A 4b entity should be able to co-ordinate the public-private enterprising nature of the proposal quite nicely.
The center could be named the Riddle Center, a nice legacy to leave the city, a profitable Golf Course and a State of the Art Golf Training School.

just can't understand why the city does not submit to the "righteous" few...

maybe if you complain a little more for the next two years, they will just get tired of listening and sh!tcan the entire "scheme".... just so you'll STFU about it...

Good luck with that...

Why should the Mayor have to talk Mr. Patterson into not running for office? I've got a thought, why doesn't someone viable run against Mr. Patterson in the next election??? Now there's a novel idea.

Dont you worry about things, your mayor and council have things under control. We know how to spend your money (do you like my new truck?).

The Rotary Club and the Chamber of Commerce will tell you what to think.

Punny minds need to leave the running of the city to us. Our Shell Overlords will guide us.

Well Winston, you should listen to your mom and quit arguing with yourself.

Wonder who will run for his seat? I do think if anyone on council vacates their seat to run for mayor, that would leave the seat open temporarily. I think council should appoint Mrs. Pressley as a temporary replacement as she pulled more votes last year than Mouton did in the year he ran and pulled more votes than Burke did last year. That would be the right thing to do.

Any idea what's proper protocol in that situation? Appointment, vacancy, runner up?

I was refused that open records request saying they needed to get the Texas Attorney General to make a ruling. Until then, no open records even thought secret or confidential information that might be harmful for those sumbitting the proposals can be redacted. The city Secretary also has the obligation to notify those submitting the proposals withing 10 days, as i recall, that an open records request has been sought.

This is not the first time the city of Deer Park has refused an open request of mine using the excuse that the AG needed to rule on it. The last time the AG ruled in my favor saying the open record request must be granted. Its just a delay response IMO since it can take up to 6 weeks to hear back from the AG. By then the city should have made a decision and I'm given the option to withdraw the records request, but I want the AG ruling so if it favors my request then the city won't be able to use that excuse again.

If the AG rules in favor of those seeking the open records then the city will have to release all received proposals, not just the selected one providing one is selected.

Remember Jerry Mouton has filed for the Mayor's seat. He also was one of a few who pushed for more taxes via 4B, type B. He beleives in more taxation, lets pray that he is not the only one who runs for that position or your taxes will surely go up along with the ever increaseing fiscal budgets. You need to ask how far they can increase the property taxes.

The race is on, will you taxes be on the line? Like the Obama plan, every thing is on the line, protect your money and demand lower taxes. Tea Party members better show up and vote!

Let's hope other people with more conservative values file for the position.
