If the Deer Park Federal Credit is not part of the City of Deer Park why is it allowed to use City Hall for everything ? For example the mail room and etc.

Are you serious??? You really need to get a life. The credit union until just this past month was for city employees only. The credit union has been going through numerous changes, it was housed inside City Hall, then inside the Community Center, now at an outside location. The credit union is not part of the City of Deer Park, they do not share budget or employees, etc. It is in the process of moving from a mom and pop organization which was readily available to employees (by being located within city hall) to a more modern credit union which now accepts DPISD members. The point is, things are changing, it takes time. The mail should not be at City Hall, I agree, and it won't be forever. However, what is the big deal???? It has been easy for employees to leave mail or correspondence for the credit union by simply placing in interoffice mail, now that times are changing, the credit union is changing but one step at a time. Be patient!!!

Councilwoman Garrison brought up a similar question in a recent meeting about why a non-city group is allowed to use a room at the court and theater building and have it locked for their use only. The same could be said about the day care located in the community center that is operated by an outside company which is charged a lower than market rate for the use of the space and also has city custodian service provided at the special low rate. City facilities should be for city functions / personnel and or charged the going rate if rented out such as the Jimmy Burke building. Having at least two organizations / businesses using city facilities funded by our tax dollars should be stopped at once, that is what I believe councilwoman Garrison referenced and I agree. Jimmy Burke rent should be a standard rate for all including the Chamber of Commerce which I understand gets a special rate. Just saying

As noted by the city the after school program charges a lot less than private businesses. The city P&R director is on record saying that the city charges monthly what most private companies charge weekly, so why is the city in the business if they are not charging the going rate for such services? The tax payers should expect the city to make good business decisions and charging 25% of a common rate is not in the best interest of the tax payers! Of course is you have your child in the program you probably enjoy the special prices on the back of the tax payer. Nothing is wrong with charging the normal rate that private businesses do, no special deals on my tax dime. Hey, if the city charged a proper rate then perhaps they would have money to fix the sidewalks! And they want to expand the program for the 450 or so waiting to get in. No wonder the list is so long with those low low rates. Your tax dollar going down the sewer and we wonder why they can't fix the sidewalks.

People never cease to amaze me. How pathetic are those who constantly look for perceived "injustices." Their glasses will never be half full and their miserable lives will never be happy. So sad, too bad, sucks to be YOU!

Is it the mail room and etc. or the mail room? What else are you suggesting they use since you state that they are allowed to use City Hall for "everything"? What does it matter to you where their mail gets delivered? Are you saying that they're using the taxpayer's postage? How about you get your facts straight before you start blowing it out of proportion?
