Buried in 30 La Porte City Charter Amendments is Proposition 11, which will give a 100% pay raise to our Mayor and Councilmembers.

Do you think this is right for them to double their salaries?

You can vote for or against this and the other propositions from April 29th through Tuesday May 7 and Election Day Saturday May 11.
Guess what

Norman Malone didn't retire as Mayor because of his 'salary' from LaPorte!
AND HE WAS THE BEST!

$3 a day is way over paid!

Especially when you throw in "consulting fees and kickbacks".

It seems like it was not that long ago that they cut their reimbursement, right?

What's up with that?

Yeah... he was sooo cool, he's one of the main reason we have giant cranes looming over La Porte!

Thanks!

You're right though, he did not retire because of his "salary".

You suck right up to corruption, don't you, Lomaxx?

The cranes in Morgan's Point are not the only ones looming over the city... and are not really the main cranes he enabled to dominate our skyline and fill our lungs with sulphur dioxide and sulphates, clog our roads with dangerous big rigs and lead to the deaths of many La Porte residents every year from accidents, cancer, emphysema and other diseases!

Yeah, Norman Malone did soooo much to beautify La Porte.

Who is receiving consulting fees?

The better question would be: Who isn't?

There are a slew of backdoor deals, shady agreements and kick backs being passed around.

They are mostly all guilty of conspiring against me... the rest are at least complicit.

They all need to go.

None of them actually represent the people who elected them... just big business that enriches them.

Why do you think they have used their power to attack me with BS, tickets, lawsuits and now a felony charge???

I see right through them.

La Porte will change radically in the next 10 years.

The chemical plants and the Port will begin to be phased out... dismantled and the land beautified... 10's of thousands of tree will be planted and nature will begin to be restored to bring a more natural balance to the land.

We are also going to have to find something for everyone to do for work... restoration will provided a lot of jobs... but restoration is not free.

I propose that we start growing hemp and produce food, fuel, medicines, housing materials and an endless list of other products and CLEANLY replace the jobs that will be lost from the chemical plants closing down.

I propose also that after I am elected Mayor that we rename the town by proclamation "La Pot, Texas" for our annual week long Hempfest every year... and attract a lot of hemp based businesses to the area.

Anyone have any better ideas on how to turn us around from being the cancer capital of the world????

We've got to grow up, folks... and it's either now or never.

Answer the question. I want names. Oh, just like usual, just a lot of hot air from the village idiot.
Why Pay Them

Ratings by HF aside, why pay our Mayor and Council anything?
School Board Trustees do not get paid a dime. Why pay our City Officials?
BTW, they (Council people) only meet, on the average 4 days or so a month for a couple of hours. That puts their pay to $100 a day and the Mayor at $200 a day.
I don't think they should be paid at all, like School Board Trustees. But that is not on the ballot, just doubling their pay.
So how are you going to vote

Agree with nonpayment for school board. Everyone knows the supt runs LPISD all by himself.

I don't HAVE to name names, idiot... it's plenty obvious that backdoor deals are being made.

I returned to La Porte 5 years ago and knew instantly that decisions were not being made based on what was best for the town!!

As soon as I went on the attack... people began resigning... and the ones that remain continue to attack me!!

You can bet they are hiding things from the public!!

You just watch... when I return... resignations will start again... bet that!!!

Many council members donate their pay to various charities. They did not ask for this the charter review committee proposed it. Don't like it? VOTE!

Only when I see that the paycheck is made out to a charity will I believe it. It is too easy to say that the pay goes to charity.

BTW, the travel budget of each councilperson is in excess of $6000/yr. Add food for each and every meeting and the cost of governance is far in excess of the salary.

Also I don't believe that a disinterested committee voted for this raise. Committees are designed to give cover to politicians.

Vote your heart, mine is swaying towards NO.

Travel is 6K for each. Where did you get that number?

Ask for travel records under FOIA. Others have. Check the LP City Council Budget.

I would not take a dime for serving on Council... no reimbursement... no travel expenses... no food expenses, nothing.

Hell, I might even pay the city.

You don't have enough money for the city to put you on council. What you've got wouldn't begin to fix what you would F>up. Just stay in LA with the rest of the nuts & fruits.
