My earlier post was in response to your hospice post. I am glad you took action for your grand mother. Hospice and nursing home are NOT the same thing. Hospice care can even be provided for you in your home. Hospice is about letting people die in peace. They help people die on their own terms and as painless as they can if that is what the person wants.<quoted text>
My grandmother was a tough old Hungarian woman... born and raised on the prairie of what became Lomax and later La Porte.
She had a stroke... and her children put her in a nursing home.
This woman raised me... she told me repeatedly growing up, "I'm taking care of you now, you take care of me later but whatever you do please do not put me in a nursing home."
She wanted to die at home... her biggest fear was being put into a nursing home and forgotten about.
I got a lawyer... fought my own family to get her out of that place.
She never fully recovered from the stroke... but she lived for more than a year.
In all that time... the family left me to care for her... none of them offered any help at all.
It was a good thing... she and I had always been very close, I would not trade that last year with her for five more years of life.
We spent hours, days, months, years talking about old La Porte and the people that made it what it was... but more importantly, she pointed out the people she knew were corrupt and only cared for what they could get out of La Porte.
My grandmother raised me to be the activist that I am... I attended and spoke at my first city council meeting with her... and she made me so proud when she stood up in all her frailty and spoke to oppose the Port Expansion Project.
In the original agreement with La Porte, the Port was never to expand South of Barbours Cut.
I sure wish City Council had listened to her... but she knew they would not.
She said all along,"The palms have been greased already, it's a done deal", and she was right.
That's why I fight... because its just right.
I am here... and until I am not... I will walk towards the light.
In this life... that's all you can do... you either walk towards the dark or towards the light.
I will march on... into the breaking dawn of Gods light.
I see it... I feel it... I have become of it.
That is the only way.
Think of this in everything you do, "Who do my actions serve?"
If you are not serving God... you need to quit doing whatever it is you are doing.
I serve God in everything I do.
You think it is a joke... but my connection to God goes from dial up to WiFi when I celebrate the Tree of Life.
If I am writing... you can bet I am celebrating.
Just got some really high grade herb... can you tell?
God says he loves you... God says he is you.
I am you... you are me... together we are one.
One being... one consciousness... divided from itself and seeking reunification.
That's what love is... that desire for connection.
Somehow... through accident or purpose... we lost that connection with God.
Government fears most God... so I think it's purpose that that connection has been severed.
Which is why I believe the oppose Marijuana.
It connects you to God and to the Earth.
That's all I can say, the Tree of Life is good for me... and here in California it's not a big deal.
Give me one good reason Marijuana should be illegal... I'll give you a million why it should be legal.

Yeah Elaine, no one fell for you; no one but Heavy Fed that is. He wants you so bad he says he's coming back to Texas. You had better get ready for him.

Here's a little treat for you...

If showing compassion to someone, even if it was based on bs, then yeah I fell for it. I don't know him and I don't think most people would lie about that. I know every time I shared something in here I have been called a liar too. I do not lie intentionally.

I already saw that. Why would you think that would be a treat for me? I already stated I am against the government forcing the middle class to transfer their wealth to the uber rich insurance industry. It is too bad nobody has tried to ammend the law to make it work. Forced consumerism is taking capitalism to the extreme. Single payer, is what I would have preferred. Most of the insurance industry is rife with greed and a sinister malevolence that disgusts me. I am basing that on my interactions with them not yours.
