Violece InSchools

In view of the terrible tragedy in Connecticut and the continuing escalation of acts of violence, I was surprised to learn that Goose Creek Independent School District has done nothing to address the issue of violence at the schools.
There are no immediate plans to do any training, there are no active policies, there is not even a plan on how to address this shooting with staff and or students upon their return on Monday morning. In a world of copycats, this is a very troubling issue.
Do the Baytown children not matter? Are the teachers and employees and students of schools in Baytown Texas not as important as teachers and employees and students elsewhere???
Schools all over the United States are working to review their policies, do additional training, and immediately offer solutions to their staff and students. Why is Goose Creek ISD so far behind the times? Is this going to be the same way that GISD handled the gang problem (by claiming there is no such thing in Baytown)???
Our new head administrator has done nothing but spend money with no improved results. Our school administratorsÂ’ do as little as they can get away with, and our school board just goes where they can get their picture in the paper.
I pray that we donÂ’t have to see a tragedy at our schools before our schools take preventive measures.

I am surprised by how little the people of baytown care about heir schools.
Kids are carrying guns and joyning gangs right at school. Principals do nothing

Calm down and have a drink. Columbine was over ten years ago and is the root of our current zero tolerance policies. What more can the schools do every time something happens?

And Geomax, to the comment about kids bringing guns to school and joining gangs: at what school and when was a gun brought into a school? And what do you know about gangs in our schools? I'm not going to claim there aren't any gangs, but it's nowhere near as bad as the late 80's and early 90's.

Oh, and I found this. 17 year-old found with 9mm and marijuana at La Porte HS, May 2012.

What is it with La Porte?
