I prefer sex scandals by right-wing religionist politicians. It seems like months since the last good one.

Weegi, Fox News is very diligent in its reporting of scandals involving Democratic Congressmen and administration officials.

Jefferson's conviction means that one target has been taken down with (3-digit number) Democratic Congressmen and officials left to go.

The right-wing forwarded emails to the gullible and weak-minded said the same thing when Van Jones, the administration official working to promote green jobs, resigned amidst a campaign of accusations by Fox.

Jefferson was mildly interesting because he kept bundles of cash in his freezer. But it doesn't even begin to compare to the entertainment value of Larry Craig and David Vitter. Even Sanford and Ensign were hilarious because of the hypocrisy factor.

The sad truth is that not too many politicians need to resort to cash bribes anymore. There are too many easy and apparently legal ways to enrich yourself through bribery once you gain office.

So the sex scandals get all the media attention. Since lately most of these scandals have involved outspoken religionist Republicans, Fox News is relieved to have a bribe-taking Democrat to report on.

Someone has to do it, as you won't hear about these from CNN, MSNBC and the other left-loon media sources. Far be it from them to report any violations committed by those they support, but they will spend a lot of effort to tear apart any Republican, whether or not the allegations warrant any merit.

Of course, you wish to down-play the fact that Jones is a self-proclaimed Marxist and want to imply that his beliefs have nothing to do with the position he held. This is ludicrous, as even his recommendations on "green" are based upon his ideology.

The gullible and weak-minded are those that ignore the background of the individuals, such as Van Jones, as well as MOST of the other czars appointed by BO, which have made their Marxist views very clear.

Everyone should keep in mind that people will "surround themselves with those who share their own views". What does this really say about BO? It speaks volumes... listen carefully, lest you are only one of the gullible lemmings and will be led to your own demise, by those who eloquently tell you whatever they think you want to hear.

The "campaign of accusations by Fox" are based on FACTS and have been reported with clear justification to back up those FACTS. Listen carefully...

This is typical of the left-loon mentality... "mildly interesting"... down-play any importance of crooked Democrats that get caught in their own crimes.

Yeah... you're right about the "hypocrisy factor", as any Democrat that gets caught in such scandals, such as Clinton, Edwards, etc.(don't forget Letterman, although not a government official, he has certainly used his stage to promote his political dogma), aren't scrutinized for their behavior and given a "pass", even when they have LIED and DENIED their actions, before having to finally ADMIT to them. Then the left-loon media down-plays it and claims that it shouldn't have any effect on their roles in government.

You've got to be KIDDING!!! If they LIE about something that "shouldn't have any effect on their roles in government", why would you trust them to run your country????????

That's one of the primary differences I've seen between the Democrats and Republicans. While everyone makes mistakes... The Republicans will usually step down and accept their fate for their inappropriate behavior. The Democrats will LIE and fight it to the end. Which would you really have more respect for... those that admit their mistakes or those that continue to LIE, until they can no longer get away with it?

All the news channels have reported Jefferson's conviction and sentencing. What's the matter with you?

You don't think Larry Craig's sex scandal was more entertaining than a cash bribery case? How about the C Street Church shenanigans involving Ensign, Sanford and Coburn, among others? Don't you consider that kind of activity in the federal government to be more entertaining than cash in an envelope?

Jefferson has been prosecuted and is going to jail. These other guys carry on shamelessly doing their Republican duty.

The last Republican I remember being prosecuted for anything was Scooter Libby. He lied to protect his boss Dick Cheney from being prosecuted for outing a covert CIA operative. Then Bush, after pledging to fire anyone involved in a coverup, commuted his sentence.

You need to stop watching Fox News, Gasbag. You're stupid enough without being exposed to more of the same.

Gasbag, you spend way too much time watching "As YOUR World 'Twists and' Turns".

If this had been a Republican, you would have heard about every event regarding it, on a daily basis. The left-loon networks didn't report anything, until he was finally sentenced.

No, I don't find the sex scandals any more "entertaining"... of course, I suppose that's what the left-loon networks think they are doing... i.e. entertaining vs. reporting news.

Of course, I have much more concern about a government official involved in bribery than one embroiled in a sex scandal.

Now, why do you left-loons downplay the Dem's scandals and then try to make a big deal of any Republican sex scandal? Talk about hypocrisy... I'll give Fox News a hell of lot more credibility, as they will report the NEWS, without regard to party affiliation.

It's obvious that you don't watch anything but Fox News.

But I thought even Fox News watchers understood that it is the propaganda organ of the Republican Party.

OK, thank you both for explaning that to me. In my opinion I think too many of the media organizations are owned by too few. We are losing the independant voice. I blame the FCC for letting this happen.

The Reagan administration ushered in this new era of media monopoly. It's funny how deregulation has led to monopoly and lack of competition, the enemies of capitalism.

Media MONOPOLY!???
You mean like the Turner moguls and others... CNN, MSNBC, ABC, NBC, CBS, Air America (failure, because nobody listens), New York Times, Newsweek, etc. etc. etc. etc.

Perhaps you're just jealous that most Fox News programs beat the pants off all their competition COMBINED. They are ONE against MANY. How do you come up with a MONOPOLY?

Your stupidity is showing AGAIN!, you friggin' idiot!

You're not aware of the mergers and consolidation of media companies that has taken place over the years?

Remember when Houstan had three major newspapers? When small radio stations could compete and represent their ommunities.

This is a problem that concerns people of all political points of view. I don't mind the fact that Fox News has good ratings.

But surely you don't believe CNN, the broadcast networks, and the hate radio monoploies offer a real alternative to Fox, do you?

You seem to call a lot of people idiots. It must be hard being you.

Some folks earn the title more than others... you are certainly leading in something, as you're apparently working hard to show your stupidity, as you have done once again.

Would you mind telling what the 3rd major newspaper was?
I'm quite aware of the media consolidations. It might be noted that the Chronicle bought out the Post and has become more biased in its reporting, without the competition, as it leans more and more to the left wing. Perhaps that is also why its readership is continuing to decline.

The small radio stations still have the opportunity to represent their communities. However, people will choose (listen/read) the medium that suits their taste... such is the "freedom" in a free market society. Of course, that's the reason why the liberal talk shows usually die out quickly, as there isn't enough market to support them.

You don't remember the Houston Press? It was definitely a voice of the community. I think Leon Hale started out at the Press. Maybe even Harry Reasoner started his career at the Press.

Small independent radio stations can't compete anymore. Clear Channel owns a big chunk of the airwaves, enough to stifle competition. This kind of thing used to be impossible before deregulation of the airwaves.

Your perception that the giant media companies offer consumers a choice is illogical. You don't seem to understand the fundamental necessity of capitalism -- competition.

Also, the decline in newspaper readership is not because of the liberal slant of newspapers. You have a lot of wacky ideas. No wonder you think everyone is an idiot.
