I know the person who worked in book keeping, if that will help.

I've seen them at Walgreens in Pasadena. Selling tickets and collecting donations...
Unsupervised (many ex-felons) with little or no accountability.

It seems strange that someone is looking for such information, which can normally be found in the phone book.

Maybe its not the kind of information they want people to know.

Then it sounds like something that people might need to know. Cenikor is a non-profit charity that is subject to insure that funds are being used according to their charter. Even if it is someone within the organization that is abusing the charity status, it is not something that should be hidden. That's just one of the things that got ACORN in so much trouble.

I understand their turnover rate is extremely high for their residents. Thats a very low success rate. Money does keep coming in.

Most of the people there are drug users sent there by the judge, then they get put in charge of each other and are sent out to collect money with no supervision.
Most of the staff are also what they call "on recovery". There is no control.
This is a money machine for the higher ups.

I have heard that the whole thing is run by the 12 Step Mafia. They are in bed with the legal system, so they operate with impunity. It is a very elaborate scam to get car wash money.

People don't understand how lucrative the "recovery car wash" business is. They are then taking that money and investing it in pecan candies that they sell to local businesses.

I think this whole operation is about to be exposed.

I wonder what it costs to incarcerate someone for a petty drug charge as opposed to having them for a year at a place like Cenikor?

We have big problems, Cenikor is not one of them. The more places like that better.

I would suggest you take a look at the world around us and see if you can't find a better target for your scorn.

Maybe ya'll need to do a little more investigating before making all these incorrect comments until you walk a mile in someone else's shoes don't talk about it. These residents work for there expense and the money doesn't go directly to them it goes throught the company. And whoever said the turnover rate is high well of course you idiot that is at any rehabilitation center. Not everyone wants to stop the addiction so they leave. Some of your comments are absolutely stupid! Get a life!

The principles behind Cenikor seem valid enough, but I agree it should be looked at if they're diverting moneys or doing anything illigal.
Drug addiction is an illness. I dont understand it, but I see what it does to these people. I would not wish the pain and loss they suffer on anyone.
Here in Deer Park we have a big drug problem. How many of our friends, neighbors or even children and grandchildren abuse drugs? How many of them will get "hooked" and watch their life run out from behind bars? Anyone that doesnt get it is nothing short of an idiot. Wednesday: you are an idiot.
If Cenikor is violating their own rules, breaking the law, or breaking the public's trust they need to be investigated and the situation must be corrected.
If an administrator at Cenikor is using the facility and resources for his own proffit, then that individual needs to be suspended, investigated, and if found to have abused the patients and the resources of the facility (and of those that donate) he should be prosecuted.
For a non-proffit company, they certainly seem to have some high wage earners, and some business groups seem to certainly benefit more than others.

Cenikor is a nightmare , work rehabilitation facility. yes they beg for money , yes the "clients" steal it , yes cenikor makes a lot of money. Even while people there are trapped and have to beg for medical attention........i have many stories of their corruption.

Thank you.
I have been in contact with several former residents and several current and former staff members. It looks to be a good operation with some very serious problems.
There is no real public accounting for all the salaries and expenses and it looks like many donations go unaccounted.
I've also been told of a staff member having been fired for theft and a current staff member who has a long criminal history who presures the residents into situations where they end up either leaving or breaking the rule and being expelled.
If you can provide information (good or bad) on the operation at the Deer Park facility, please email me at TxHou@hotmail.com
Thank you

Hi, My son just made a deal with the judge to attend Cenikor and complete the program or he would serve 12 years in prison. I'm really concerned that my son will not have the strength to finish this program and be sent to prison. He has not been excepted yet by Cenikor since this all happened on Monday and is waiting to be evaluated. I'm so afraid of my 19 year old son being in prison - he is not a criminal - he is a drug addict. Is this place that hard that my son will not stand a chance if he attends??? Please help anyone
