Ok, I've got your attention.

A good deal of the 2014 LPISD Bond money will go to security upgrades. All our schools, including Heritage and Bayshore Elementary were built "pre-Sandy Hook Elementary Massacre!"

Do you think LPISD Administration learned something from this killing of innocent children? If you don't, you are in denial.

A really good chunk of money is being spent to make sure that this (Sandy Hook Elementary Massacre) does not happen to our children here in La Porte.

There are more guns than ever in La Porte. These guns are accessible to kids who have been brought up on violent computer games.

We do not have adequate background checks.

Kids over 18 can buy guns. They have access to their parents guns, or the guns of their friends.

We have a potential huge problem here.

So how do these LPISD bonds help mitigate this gun availability problem?

If you go to the La Porte ISD website and look up the 2014 Bonds you will see that the new school buildings are built "curved" or "in the round."

Why? Well you can't shoot straight down a curved corridor. If gives kids a chance of escape before law enforcement can arrive if a shooter invades the school.

For existing schools with straight corridors, the bond money covers many bullet resistant doors that can be electronically shut and locked in case of armed invasion in existing schools. Our new schools were built before Sandy Hook.

The Bond Money includes, believe it or not, some kevlar walls where there is only sheet rock in strategic spots to protect our little kids.

There are exits for kids to escape. There is so much more, but I can't talk about it.

OP are you planning to shoot up the school? It seems like you know something from your post.

First off Elaine, I can't fathom what you are saying? Shoot up the school?

I don't own a gun. I understand you own many guns. Why? Paranoid?

In my opinion, it is people like you that are the reason why we should pass these bonds.

It is people like you who are most likely to go wacko...no...more wacko and go postal in a school.

It is people like you that we need to protect our kids from by giving them the best state of the art protection that we can provide.

I guess I hit upon the reason why you are really against the bonds. You want our kids to be vulnerable.

Good much my backside. 1.5 million per school is not a big chunk of 260 million. Again, more scare tactics. Why don't you talk about the 20 million dollar gym. Pork, Pork, Pork

Based on their own budget, that could demo and build a new, state of the art Baker campus. I wonder how many classes they can fit into the gym?

This post indicates that "Reality Check" is obsessed with guns, shooting and violence against children. I hope LPPD is monitoring this thread and will take action.

OP you are mental. Get some help for your violent fantasies!

The best way to protect the kids is have a DECENT cop at each school, razor wire and metal detectors. The only person who should be allowed to have a gun on campus is a trained PROFESSIONAL(cop or armed and licensed professional security). Bulletproof doors do sound like a good idea. Interactions in every room if they don't have that already.

If a school needs a cop, metal detectors and razor wire... why would you send your kid there?

For one reason ,you don't know which kids parent might be mentally ill, and just bought or stole a gun. Columbine was suppose to be a really good school with mostly middle and upper class families. You never know if kids are being bullied or are mentally ill, and have access to fire arms, knives, or bomb making materials(almost every home has some). Idiots let their kids on the internet without supervision or monitoring of any type. These school attacks are rare ,considering the number of schools in our country, but it can happen anywhere.

Home schoolers can indoctrinate their kids to be filled with the same hatreds and bigotry that they are. No offense to decent preschoolers.

To be blunt, you are full of bull excremental. The only way I will vote for this is if you say they are installing unicorn fart machines in every bathroom to sweeten the air.
Typical liberal trying very hard yet seriously failing to scream the sky is falling so you can spend other people's money. If there wasn't so much money at stake, your "inside track" secret squirrel school fortress would be laughable.

Funny thing is I think the ones really pushing this bond are tea party conservatives. They don't want new taxes unless it benefits them.1292

No offense, but scare tactics straight out of the "right's" playbook(and they are very effective). Just watch Fox news for a while, rush Limbaugh loves to try and scare people with his bull shyte, and then their is the teary eyed Glenn Beck who loves scare tactics and bullshyte. Remember Sarah Palin and the death panels(allowing people the choice of hospice). People on the left need to stay away from these tactics.
