Freedom of speech is extinct. He was saying what his beliefs are, which tends to be what many people think but do not articulate. When did we become a country that censors us for our personal beliefs? I think A&E will find out they have made a huge mistake by suspending him from the show. Many of the people who are big fans of this show will quit watching because they have similar beliefs as Phil's. I understand that homosexuality is not a choice, but I also believe it is not the natural way of things. Again I say, who cares what you do in your private life.....keep it private......don't stick it in everyones face and you will have no problem.

There was nothing wrong with what he said. I have read the entire article and he merely expressed his beliefs. He placed homosexuality in the same category as adultry, and fornication. Politicly correct has gone too damn far. Freedom of speech is protected in our Constitution the same as Freedom of Religion, but too many cry babies out there want to change those rights from FREEDOM OF to FREEDOM FROM. We are fast becomeing a nation of CANDY A--es. As to A&E you morons knew the mans point of view before you hired him. BUT go ahead and cave in to these people, and try to figure out who you are going to have to cave in to next, believe it you are going to have it to do.

I hope he takes the entire TV show and moves it to another channel.

A&E can suck duck balls if they are such retards to "suspend" they one guy that makes them more money than any other show on their network.

Christ, he's not a politician. He was just speaking his mind.

I think that should apply to his expression of his beliefs also.

In an interview in April 2013, Phil Robertson told Sports Spectrum TV that A&E Network had attempted to cut mention of “Jesus” from the “Duck Dynasty” family prayer at the end of the show, but that he had fought them and won.“So they would just have me saying,‘Thank you Lord for the food, thank you for loving us. Amen,” Robertson related.“So I said,‘Why would you cut out ‘In Jesus’ name?’ They said,‘Well those editors are probably doing that. They just think that they don’t want to offend some of the Muslims or something.”

Your statement offended me. You should have kept it to yourself.

That is just an ignorant thing to say, It's a reality show for crying out loud. I do not watch it or any other reality shows for that matter, but from what I have heard people expressing their unrestricted thoughts and beliefs are one of the reasons people watch these shows. If you don't like what they say or do TURN THE DAMN CHANNEL. But no you have people who wear their feelings on their sleeve and want to whine about everything that doesn't go along with their beliefs. JUST GROW UP, QUIT WHINNING, AND IF YOU DON"T LIKE IT: TURN THE DAMN CHANNEL!

Ducked: using your argument, forums such as this one would go away if no one can express their thoughts and enjoy free speech. Phil was ok to voice his opinion. The rest of us can agree or not. A and E also enjoys a right to suspend him as they are boss when it comes to airing his show.

I hope the whole family tells A&E to stuff the whole show where the sun does not shine.

GQ would not have interviewed Phil if he were unknown. No one would care what he believed without the public recognition that the broadcast network has provided him. He is welcome to promote his beliefs in his private life. In a public forum however, when he is representing the network, he is not. A&E is allowed to screen commentary from it's employees that is offensive to any of it's viewers. Mr. Robertson most likely signed a contract to that effect.

They need to walk, they don't need the money. A&E can take a hit in their back pocket, and blame it on their own pc attitude.. Hell they even insurt bleeps to make you think those folks are cursing when in fact they aren't. They need to go hire some actors write a script and be as pc as they want. Like I said if you don't like those peoples beliefs: TURN THE DAMN CHANNEL!

How do you know why they bleep the show? You don't.

He didn't say anything wrong in his interview. If you are complaining about his comments you should read the interview first. It was very mild and inoffensive. A&E made a huge mistake and they need to correct it.

Elaine at the time Phil complained about them cutting the word "Jesus" they had aired him thanking Jesus seventeen times. It is an entertainment show and not a show on religion and that might be the reason they edit it - like they edit every other show on tv,even Fox news.

I would have liked to know more about Phil's admission to having badly beaten a man and his "wife". I am not a fan of men who beat women and so I wish the ahole who interviewed him had put that in context.

This type of speech, free as it is, is old school

It is no different than the punishment that football players get who "don't get it" and target head shots that cause brain damage. Targeting is "old school." Gay bashing is "old school."

This type of talk, this type of old school old fashioned prejudice thinking, causes brain damage to young kids. It fosters hate, and encourages hate crime.

Duck Dynasty deserves to be off the air. It is a sign of a civil society.

Ducked stated something to the effect that personal opinion is just that personal opinion and should be kept to yourself. A&E can most definitely suspend/fire Phil it is their network. I am not sure it is a wise move however. The important thing to remember is that I have the right to offend you, and you have the right to offend me. There is no law or part of the constitution that says you are protected against be offended. That includes GLAAD members! Tough shit if you don't like it. People burn my bibles, and my countries flag, and somehow I still go on.

Carol- Are you high or just drunk? The correlation between the punishments for the statements made by Phil and football players "targeting" is ridiculous. Our armed forces (myself included) are not fighting for football players' rights to "target". We are fighting for our constitution and the rights ensured within it; including the right to free speech.
What Phil said does not cause brain damage in kids, foster hate, or encourage hate crimes. If A&E wants to play the reality TV game, they should accept reality and not try to hide it, change it, or punish it. Reality is what it is; right or wrong.
