weakening the military

RUSSIA is again building up their military and flexing their muscles in the European area
CHINA is building up a huge modern military and navy to take control of the pacific
NORTH KOREA is building long range missles that will soon have the range to hit the continental USA
they are working on making nukes small enough to fit on these missles
IRAN hates our guts
and is steadily enlarging and modernizing their military
as soon as they get nukes it is ON in sand land.there are several more countries that hate our guts AFGANISTAN IRAQ SYRIA LEBANON LIBYA most all of sand land.
there are several countries in SOUTH AMERICA that are communist/socialist
that hate our guts and MEXICO certainly IS NOT our friend.
two huge nuclear armed countries PAKISTAN and INDIA are defintly NOT our friends.
the point is-----the HOT spots around the world that hate our guts are building up their military
and the powers that be in Washington want to weaken our military.
cut back on the equipment and troops
cut the troops pay--benefits--and retirements. the troops families are already living on food stamps.
all these cuts--and the reason given---to have more money for (SOCIAL PROGRAMS)
the generals say the military would be below world war 2 manpower strength
BEFORE those with differing opinions go into rabid flame thrower mode
let me offer some FACTS as to the condition of our military
IT IS A FACT in 2 regional wars against poorly armed backward ill trained countries
IRAQ and AFGANISTAN the so called greatest military was so short on manpower
they had to send the NATIONAL GUARD TROOPS to fight in these little backward countries.
point is with MORE cuts this country will be in deep POO POO in any major threats to this country or our allies.
ok let the screams and denial of reality begin.

Your right that the troops benefits, pay and pensions should be higher but a certain group in congress is strongly against this without a way to specifically pay for it. They insist on a "robbing Peter to pay Paul" mentality at the expense of our troops.
We are building F-35's that are so "high tech" they can't be flown in the dark. We have 3000 Abrams, that the military doesn't want or need, in parking lots. While I was in Houston they were building up armored vehicles the military didn't want or need(in fact they couldn't even give them away). That would also be known as corporate welfare(socialism) when companies are being paid for goods that are neither wanted or needed.
Our military budget is more than the next ten military budgets in the world combined.
To say that Lebanon,India and Mexico are not our friends shows how little you know about the world. My uncle is an international lawyer who travels to Lebanon several times a year and loves the hospitality of its people. He is in fact there as I write this.

(they could not even give them away)
hold up now do you expect this forum to believe if THEY were giving away vehicles worth hundreds of thousand of dollars each
no one would take them
and yes sir LEBANON with its terrorists that attack ISRAEL are NOT our good buddies.
MEXICO with its drug lords and a president that claims the southwestern USA belongs to MEXICO-- they are NOT our buddies.
and INDIA is not our buddy either.
now the good news
I agree with the rest of your post
you are getting better,--- a good portion of your post is reasonable and correct
and not once did you call me one of those little favorite names you like to use.
#4 Mar 6, 2014
That is right they couldn't give them away. They are military vehicles and are very expensive to export to militaries that don't need or want them. They are not going to give them away to civilians for obvious reasons. It was on the front page of the Houston Chronicle and made the ten pm local news too. Their was only one name, and I think I only implied it but I could be wrong. I don't call names when others don't call names.

The people of almost all those countries like America but some of their governments and certainly some of the group's in those countries do not.
Iranians for the most part love America for its freedom, their government on the other hand, hates us for the very same reason. Those crowds you see are paid ,and let's say ,encouraged, to show up for demonstrations.
They do not like seeing people publicly hanged in the street.

I am just going to leave the military vehicle thing alone
it is not worth getting in a argument over
but I do stand by my point that this is not the time to cut the military
with all the bad things happening around the world
and our enemies building up their military forces.
lets look at it another way
when the thousands of troops are cut loose from the military
they will be on the unemployed roles probably for a long time
many of the people employed by military supply companies will be laid off
it will have a bad effect on the employment situation.

You are right on this one. The Feds are attempting to "give" these military vehicles to small municipalities around the nation at the request of the companies who supply parts and maintenance for them. Those towns will bear the very high cost of keeping the machines running. They aren't free. Most cities don't want them.
#8 Mar 7, 2014
the point is not about vehicles
the MAIN point is this is NOT the time to cut military strength
with what is going on with our enemies building up their military.
what needs to happen is
stop making equipment we do not need more of
stop the militaries billions of dollars of waste
stop military suppliers from charging outrageous overinflated prices
if this was done --at the present military spending
there would be NO problem funding the military.
#9 Mar 7, 2014
When potential enemies are building up is not the time to cut back on our military. Speak softly, but do not forget that BIG STICK. He who negotiates from a position of strength negotiates best.
#10 Mar 7, 2014
you are absolutely correct
#11 Mar 7, 2014
The politicians are more concerned with the contractors and vendors than with what happens to the soldiers or the people(not the companies)who work on these projects.
I believe in bodies in uniforms too. Soldiers have jobs and are there if or rather when they are needed.
These giant expenditures on questionable equipment needs to stop. The V-35 fighter CAN'T fly in the dark. That is crazy! Do we try and make deals with our enemies that they only fight during daylight?
#12 Mar 7, 2014
the politicans are only concerned with getting those big campaign donations
from the contractors and vendors
those politicians with big military suppliers in their district
are only concerned with jobs and $$$$$ for their district, and being re-elected.
if the graft and overcharging could be stopped
there would be plenty of money to run the military.

It's called greed. Multi-million dollar salaries for CEOs, who blame it on their greedy employees. Never mind that the average CEO makes 450+ times what his employees make. Senators and Represenitives with their annual six figure incomes, does anyone know what you average soldier ( grunt, or mud Marine) makes for PUTTING HIS LIFE ON THE LINE? I agree our troops deserve the best equipment at the best price. BUT THE BEST EQUIPMENT IS A MUST. OUR MILITARY DESERVES IT! Cut the waste, not the military.

Stop blaming the "Rich". Every person in the united states has the RIGHT to educate himself, start a business, work is as off, and become wealthy. You, yourself, chose a different path with less money. Live with your decision or get to work. Stop whining.
#15 Mar 8, 2014
Oh, and stop using the soldiers as your excuse to persecute the wealthy. They don't like being exploited.
#16 Mar 8, 2014
Not blaming the rich. Telling the damn truth, and you have a real problem with the truth. I have some friends who are extremely wealthy, and they earned it. I did get an education and earn a very comfortable living, and I am not whining. Even if I were I wore the the uniform and earned the right to do damn near anything I want. You can't say the same can you? So if you call telling the truth persecusion of the wealthy TYA, learn to live with it or go jump off a bridge or something.
#17 Mar 8, 2014
The thread is about weakening the military and not your politics.Start your own thread.
Sorry, but I had to return the favor.
#18 Mar 8, 2014
You are saying virtually the same thing, that there is nothing patriotic about these big defense contractors, it's all about money. If your in business to overcharge the American taxpayer more power to you, right? There is fundamentally something wrong with that.
#19 Mar 8, 2014
If the government is willing to pay $700 for a toilet seat, can you really blame the fat-cat defense contractor for taking the deal? If the feds think it's too much, they can shop somewhere else.
Companies are only in business to make money; nothing more. Don't criticize them for foolish mistakes made by government bureaucrats.
#20 Mar 8, 2014
Yes, you are blaming the rich. In your case, you are exaggerating, and therefore not telling the truth. You are just making baseless accusations that make you feel good about your miserable lot in life. Take responsibility for your actions
By the way, serving in the military does NOT make you a good person, much less a hero. Ditto for cops and firemen.
