It gets worse next week

Wow, Wayne Dolcifino (Channel 13 - 10 PM) is really digging into the corruption at the port of houston. It is worse than I ever expected.

Friday's undercover report explains why the port paid off Argentina Jones, the Port's African American PR person $380,000 to cover up a very illegal Port paid entertainment trip on the MV Sam Houston for the executives and clients of Alex's other $250K part time job.

We the taxpayers pay him, Alex Dweyer, over $359,000 a year plus expenses, and hundreds of thousands of dollars in travel/entertainment dollars. And he has a part time job also? What's with that?

Argentina Jones also used the MV Sam Houston for her personal use, to entertain her son's Pearland Basketball Team at a cost of thousands of dollare. And we are paying her $380,000 for hush money? Wow, how do I get a deal like this?

The Port is wasting millions and can't pay more than a few thousand to us who get pounded by noise and pollution from the port every day.

Why are Harris County Commissioners are putting up with this? They appoint the Port Commissioners and approve the Executive Director.

Why is our Port Commissioner Jimmy Burke putting up with this?

Burke is our LP representative on the Port Commission. Is he also corrupt? I'm thinking it looks that way.

Our Mayor and Council votes for Burke to be our rep. Let's hold Rigby and City Council accountable for their selection and Burke to end this corruption on his watch.

Millions in waste, and they still don't have a tenant for the cruise terminal. When will this abuse stop? I'm thinking Federal Investigation.

I watched the reports all week. I hope some action is taken by someone to recoup some of this money these people have wasted. They have rules written for travel expenses and that boat use and they were broken. They should have to repay that money.
It looks like working in one of the administrative jobs for the port is very profitable. Plus many of them work a lucrative 2nd job for a business on the port. Talk about conflict of interests. They need to come up with a new code of ethics with more strict rules of spending OUR money. I will be watching next weeks reports.

I caught the report last night. Every year-and-a-half or so, someone working for the city, the port, a university or some other public entity gets busted for some stupid self-serving expense account fraud. Why don't people have more self respect than that?

Last week was eye opening. I can't wait for 10 PM tonight.

Based on what I have seen, the Port is pretty worried about this, but I'll bet nothing is done.

The County-City of Houston Corrupt Clique makes LP look like Sleepy Hollow.

There is nothing crooked going on at the port. It is only crooked if someone gets arrested and goes to jail.

That is a pretty low bar. So, violating their own rules is OK, conflicts of interests are OK, misappropriation of money & travel expenses, wasting over $100 million on an unused cruise ship terminal---- all OK. They are using OUR money to do this stuff, so perhaps WE can stop it.

In todays Chronicle, our County Commissioners are looking into the activities of our Port Chairman and the Executive Director. Both Port execs look like greedy influence peddlers.

Seems Edmonds was taking money from AECOM and the Port to Lobby in Libya. Dreyer is taking money from the Port and another company and using Port assets for his personal gain.

Now they both want to use their own personal lawyers to investigate themselves, with the port picking up the tab.

Elyse Lanier and Janiece Longoria, both Port Commissioners want Dreyer gone. How about Jimmy Burke. He is at the Port Trough also.

It is ironic that the only Commissioners with balls are the women on the Port Commission.

Something needs to be done to hold these people who waste our tax money accountable.

An audit, not from within, but completely independent and wide ranging, is needed at the Port. We need to clean up this organization and stop the flow of money.

The powers to be will just control the outcome like they did in La Porte. The only thing that will do any good is if the state or federal attorney steps in and does a criminal investigation.

I fear that the County will whitewash this investigation, as reported in today's Chronicle.

There is some really serious stuff here. True misappropriation of tax money.

I agree with Radack, if the port has this type of money to be spent on lavish trips, friends and family jobs and crazy separation packages for execs, there needs to be a change in command AND there needs to be open records and meetings.

Evidently our Representative on the Port Commission, Jimmy Burke is not concerned. His family is on the dole also.

Yes, Burke's Son is the head of the Economic Development Corp --- one of many -- that are being subsidized by us taxpayers of La Porte and the surrounding communities. We provide them with free rent, free utilities and maintenance on the Main St building the city bought and spent $1 million on refurbishing. So, is this Economic Development just a jobs program for well connected, but otherwise unemployable people?

If the port has this type of money to spend on family and friends there needs to be a lowering of the port tax and these people need to go to jail. In any regular job, if you had lost the business 100,000,000 you would of been fired. Why aren't heads rolling?

I'd be PO'd if I was head of another county division like say the constables office tht has had to lay off. Glad to see Mormon taking a stand against this. Front page of Chronicle today. If it is in the DA's hands, I think Lykos is pretty competent.

Come on guys... I've been telling you the Port AND the City are BOTH corrupt and BOTH working hand in hand for over two years now!!!

Jesus... did y'all NOT hear about them obtaining a fraudulent title to my property and bulldozing it????

City Council has been in the pocket of the Port for YEARS!!!

They sold out the people when they traded the Fairmont Park bridge for no opposition to the new cranes!!!

They sold out the people of La Porte again when they allowed the new truck check facility to be built South of Barbours Cut!!!

They had plenty of room to build it on the North side... if they would do something with those containers besides pile them here!!!!

DAMN!!!

The whole freakin town will soon be containers!!!

It's cheaper to build them new in China than it is to send them back empty!!!!

NO MORE CONTAINER YARDS DAMNIT!!!!!

NO MORE PORT EXPANSION!!!

THEY HAVE TAKEN ALL OF LA PORTE THEY ARE GOING TO GET IF I HAVE ANYTHING TO SAY ABOUT IT!

Never trust public officials to investigate their own. If they find these guys guilty of breaking rules then they can't enjoy breaking the same rules themselves.

I think that the FBI is the proper agency to investigate official corruption, especially the falsification of public documents.

We need honest people at the port, if they can be found in that pretty corrupt industry. The State Law that gives these guys a free rein, needs to be changed. They are really not accountable to the public, except through multiple layers of other elected officials.

In the meantime, we need to put pressure on our local officials to get honest representation on the Port Commission. Where is Commissioner Jimmy Burke on this outrage?

Jimmy was busy drinking the "kool aid". He brought his wife along on these excursions / high priced lunches, etc.
