I can remember many speaking to council about the traffic issue during the public hearing. No result about moving it else where, they didn't listen. Too little too late. Remember the councilwoman who said not more apartments for Deer Park, but then voted for it so friends could dump the property then invested in? Check the minutes and see who backed the building of it.

The real solution would have been to not approve it for that location, but the investors had to sell it for the apartments since taxes where coming due and the other plan for the city to purchase it didn't get approved quick enough for he investors. Councilman Harrison should remember that since he provided that comment to council before the vote. Also the city allowed it to be built on less than the minimum 25 acres normally mandated.

What goes around comes around.

Bill, we warned them and said it would be a nightmare. I remember as well. Fell on deaf ears.

The same thing was done on the property that is a Super 8 on Center. What was that little mans name with short legs and fake hair that was on Council who owned it?

Does anyone know who the owners of the Center Street Joint Ventures were. I remember that being talked about when the land that the Providence is on was being sold. I never heard who owned it though.

I have the names stored in a tote full of old city minutes along with other goodies from years ago when I was more involved. I'll look through it today and let y'all know. Got the info from Secretary of State. Have a relative who is an attorney who researched it for me. Think there were 5 or 6... I'll look later.

If my memory serves me correctly, I believe Mr. Butler who has requested the drop in speed also attended the meetings supporting this project.

Now talk about falling on to deaf ears. He should have had his Belltones on because traffic chaos was mentioned numerous times.

Oh do tell. Don't leave the part out about the Section 8 housing and the new Town Square either. I forgot all about this.

Same sneaky stuff is going on with the SJE building I'm afraid. That new Community Center for the Community of Opportunity will probably be named the Riddle Center. When does it stop.

Ok, so now you would have a Burke center on one side of town and a Riddler on the other. Let the tourist come and see the sights. Better tell the tour bus companies.

Tour buses will not be coming. The word is out by the history buffs that Deer Park is not the birth place of Texas. Culp and Cobb are looking for a new place to relocate the cabin.
