Have you ever noticed everything is just a little increase and or a quality of life issue?

I remember Stockstill-Cobb handing out pamphlets at one of the meetings mouthing those very ideas.....It's just a few pennies.... a few pennies on top of all the pennies everyone is TAKING now will leave us all frigging homeless. Anyone else hit up by a more than 10% increase in homeowners policy courtesy of your good neighbors at State Farm? With good neighbors like that and council we are frigging copulated.

What the hell does your insurance premium have to do with the city's taxes?

Answer: NOTHING!

At least try to stay on topic, instead of going off on unrelated tangents that have nothing to do with taxes.

Well, well well... I think I predicted this a couple of years ago when they said the sales tax increase was "only a little more" and of course, it wouldn't affect the citizens because all those tourists would be subsidizing it.

Of course, then they increased our property taxes in the fall of that year.

Then they need more taxes for the storm sewer repairs!

Now they want "just a little more" for our STREETS!

However, they can continue to subsidize a golf course and restaurant that has averaged over $1-million per year.

To top it off!!! They want to rent out the OLD San Jacinto Elementary for a COMMUNITY CENTER on the north end of town (the city is ONLY 10 sq miles!).

That's right... you remember the BOND that was passed by DPISD to replace the old, worn out school (and admin bldg & press box, etc.) because it had too many maintenance issues and was no longer economically feasible... and it needed to be torn down.

So, now the city wants to spend our tax dollars on a worn out building for a community center?

Let's get just a little refresher here...
* The Mayor said the city was in good financial shape in March 2011.
* Shortly afterwards, we were told that we needed to increase our sales tax or our police and EMT wouldn't have the money for needed equipment (after the city cut those budgets).
* In the fall, the city was going to have a deficit and needed to raise property taxes.
* DPISD needed to build a new school and admin building because the old ones were outdated and full of maintenance issues... and needed to be demolished.
* DPISD is going to use part of SJE for the Wolters kids and...
* The city wants to buy the building for a community center.
* The city now requires citizens to pick up their own trash bags to save money. They are also talking about no longer supplying those trash bags.
* The city needs money to repair and maintain our sewer systems (that they were supposed to fix years ago), so they need to charge a "rain tax."
* Now, they say we don't have enough money to properly repair and maintain our streets, so they want to raise MORE taxes.

Never mind the increases in federal taxes (much of it due to ObamaCare).

WHEN DOES IT END?
It doesn't... until the citizens finally get off their apathetic asses and do something about these clueless politicians that are sucking them dry... just a few pennies at a time (because they don't think you will notice).

How does federal taxes relate to city sales taxes? One should at least try to stay on topic, instead of going off on unrelated tangents.

Who was talking only about city sales taxes?

You're kinda slow to catch on, aren't you?

Read it a few more times and if you still don't get it, I'll try to type a little slower and explain it to you.

And how about those water bills. And it isn't even summer. Groceries are going up also but oranges were cheap for a while. How about that gasoline? Why is natural gas as so high when there is so much of it? Is there sales tax on water? How was that super bowl? Did we pay any tax on that?
Stinking comcast blo's as hard as DPTX does..well almost, but my neighbor says Dish sux so whatcha gonna do? Why do people drive so slow on Center Street? And who came up with those turn lanes? How about that Luella situation. Does the Battleground have free Wi-fi, if not why not? Do you own a dog? Does it bark?
Why do I have to pay a universal access fee anyway?
Where is the best place to get a burger around here? Does SDJS still live in Deer Park? Will Andrea run again? Is Mouton really a socialist? Will the Mayor and his buds get to play free golf? What is his retirement package. Whats up with Scooby? Is there any solid data on football head injuries compiled by DPISD? This is all very taxing. Does this forum have a moderator? if not why not? I noticed it has a troll. Good luck ppl.:)

Crystal clear to me that the posted link was about city revenues. Insurance rates are not topic but federal revenues are right on. Strange.

MY GOODNESS!
The only reason most of them don't want to put it on the ballot is because "the timing isn't right" and it will appear that the council put another tax on us!

That's nothing more than their same old politicking crap!!
What? Do they think it will make Mouton look bad and lose the election? If that happened, they might not get the puppet they need to spend more of our tax dollars to boost the fabulous tourist trade...
like a tournament ball field to go along with the golf course deficit...
more community centers! After all we need one on the EAST and WEST sides of town, too (we don't have one there, either)!

This little town will be growing so fast, we'll have to raise more taxes to build more roads and sewers to handle all the businesses it will attract... like Macy's, Landry's and maybe even a Big Lots.

What a bunch of goofy goons.

so you predicted the obvious.... nice work Jean Dixon!!!

what exactly does an federal tax increase and racist political view have to do with your local government activity??? NOTHING!!!

I am not surprised that you would feel the pinch of an extra few pennies. I have a few pieces of coal that I would like to turn into a diamond... mind if I borrow your tight ass for a little while.

You may now respond with the usual anal drunk/barfly rhetoric...
